"Our teams have been hard at work on the new décor package for the 50th anniversary of WaltDisneyWorld, beginning on Oct. 1, 2021. Today, we're excited to share a sneak peek of the royal treatment Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom will receive when shimmering jewels and ribbons in royal blues and EARidescent golds will wrap its turrets and towers in all directions.

To celebrate this enduring icon of Magic Kingdom, our Disney Imagineers developed these new colors, gold detailing and vibrant hues after drawing inspiration from Mary Blair’s vision in the classic "Cinderella" film. We look forward to sharing more about our design inspiration and approach as we bring this vision to life and cannot wait to see these details begin to adorn the castle in the weeks and months to come!"

Hope we like it since it’s all we are getting.

How do we plus this? Add purple? Perfect. Oh no! We've run out of colors! Hold on! We forgot about iridescence! Yay! This will go great with that corny new birthday song. I know right? I still can't get the "15 years" song out of my head! Wow I'm old. Yes you are.

I realize some don’t like any changes to the castle and I understand and respect that. The 25th was too over the top. However, the 50th is more understated and I like it. Come on. You have to “plus” the castle somehow. The same people criticizing any change would be the first in line criticizing no change wondering why no recognition of the 50th?

We aren’t getting a nighttime parade.

A new nighttime parade was in the plans originally according to marni. Was PTN ever a consideration? Was PTN a Plan B over a brand new parade? Then they ultimately they canceled the whole idea?
From the way it sounds a parade might have been the only thing they cut completely. Go figure. And once again they chose to give a MK nighttime show priority, even though it might just be a HEA tag over other enhancements. Sorry for venting lol. And I know, big reason is the pandemic... but with things improving... at least they should have considered it for 2022 instead of canceling all together.

I wonder if they are going to do any painting along with the decorations and fix any fading.

If anything they learned over the past few months, it's that no matter how much you cut. You'll end up with a crowded park.

It was probably the last point in time Eisner was seen as the golden boy. Think about the relatively quick succession of failed attempts to pump up the company, especially P&R (but don't forget movies), pretty much immediately after the 25th anniversary concluded at WDW. Westcot cancelled, Euro Disney Resort firmly in crisis after a weak turnaround attempt, then failures at DCA and DAK up through 9/11 and the final death of meaningful capital expenditures under Eisner. Some would go as far as saying that domestic parks and resorts' best days were probably peaked then and have been stagnant or declining ever since.
Lets hope we dont get the same weather, as the 25th., rain! Come on you remember!

After reading previous threads and posts, dates from September 2020, from insiders about PTN on @MisterPenguins WDW rumor tracker thread, it sounded very much like PTN was imminent for MK. Curious what changed.
Honestly with all the uncertainty and back and forth on things lately, even among insiders, maybe there’s still a chance a parade isn’t dead for the entire 50th. In October? I admit that’s doubtful considering we are just heading into post covid. But in 2022 things should be much better.

Rumors were that a parade was happening as recently as Sept and Oct 2020. Well after the COVID closure and reopening.
Okay, Rumors notwithstanding events on the ground took over. Would love to see a parade too on 10/1 and while more COVID vaccines than infections to date, we’re still not at more than 50% of the population. I’d be staking an early spot in October but frankly I don’t see it happening. Not until 2022 at the earliest. Besides, I can already imagine media coverage only 7 months from now: “Disney promotes superspreader event despite less than 50% of Americans vaccinated.”
