The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

I really like the new clock colors. I think everything should be painted gold (not rose gold) for the 50th, lol.

I like the sign in front of the train station, but the 50 looks like a repurposed easter egg, was there ever an Easter sign out there?

The refurbished Main Street clock is... certainly a decision. Can't say I'm the biggest fan of it.

As for the train station sign, hopefully there's some big final touches to be installed. As it stands, the random "Let the Memories Begin" marketing campaign arguably had a larger, nicer, more elaborate sign.View attachment 584140View attachment 584142
Their sign shop certainly seems to be experiencing some growing pains as of late. (I've been in the sign industry for decades.)

"The World's Most Have Been Outpriced for Such a Disney Trip, Like Myself, but Still is a Celebration....that I am now broke."

....That Disney?

Of course that Disney!

The celebration really does lack any kind of hook at all, anything that separates it from every other seasonal promotion.

As folks have said, imagine if the promotion actually focused on park-based stars (which are valuable IPs themselves). Instead of nonstop Fab Five, promotional materials and merchandise could have focused on Mickey hanging out with Figment, Big Al, the hitchhiking ghosts, the Yeti, a couple pirates, some IaSW dolls, etc. That would help create a unique event. I’d empty my wallet for that.

Didn’t the rose gold trend flop about four years ago?

These early 80s Walt Disney World merchandise of Mickey, Minnie, and Figment comes to mind.

Any rumblings being heard about a October 1st 'ceremony' to mark the day in the Park?
I would LIKE to think something will take place....to honor the actual day itself.

We are twenty something days away at this point....surprised I haven't heard even a whisper yet about something possibly going down.

So....

Who here will actually BE in the Magic Kingdom on 'the day'?
I'll be there, @JohnD will be there....who else?

I ask because I'd like to do another fun 'meet up' somewhere in the Park to give away some more of my art postcards in honor of the 50th.
I did this a couple of years ago over at the Magic Garden at Epcot on October 1st and it was nice to spend some time with fellow fans for a little while.

So don't be shy....let yourself be known!
Will YOU be enduring the masses this October 1st?

They have to have something. Every 5 years they have one, so there's no reason not to do it this year. I think they usually happen around 9:30am, and the "itinerary" for that day gets released a few days before.

I really wish people could stop words like that LATINX garbage x_x
I did notice when Disney posted an image of Miguel and Coco on Instagram to celebrate #HispanicLatinxHeritageMonth, almost all the top-rated comments were people with Latin American heritage making that exact point. Seems like they're undercutting what they're trying to achieve.

It's a very interesting clash of sensitivities and a bit of a minefield at the moment. Polls suggest Hispanic/Latino people by a large majority don't use or particularly like the term but it has become almost ubiquitous in corporate and academic language.

As for the sign, the current one is not perfect but I do prefer something like that tothe polaroids of the Let the Memories Begin sign.
