Disney allows it to happen. If the copany was fine, they'd fix the problem.

The only part of TWDC I have faith in is Pixar.
I think it's management in TDO that's the problem. They seem to be stopping it.

It goes in cycles, always has, always will. WDW will get it's turn.
True.

Still wrong of them, though. Allowing DL to fall into terrible shape before it's 50th was wrong, and the same can be said for the litany of problems at WDW. There will be times when they stop building, yes, but they can never let quality slip in the meantime. That's just not Disney, IMHO.

We are turning a corner, now, though, you are right. :) There's a ton better in 2009 than there was in 2006. Or in 2003. Quality and Maintenance has returned. Disney feels like it's old self again, when visiting it. Back then? Not so much. We are on the way, but it's been a looooooong time coming, and they can't let us fall that far again when the cycle comes around again.

That goes for DL, too.

Except, I firmly believe FLE is our cycle.

My cheerleading days died with the Adventurers Club. I'm not bitter or angry, but I refuse to be a lemming and follow tWDC with blind faith. My demographic has been left for dead by the company that once sought to please all ages.

Good point, seeing that I'm in the same demographic.

Good thing I was still a kid when Horizons was killed. :lookaroun

And I fear that Fastpasses, strollers, ADRs, and character meals will ruin the high points of the expansion.

True. Doesn't really matter though. I don't plan on experiencing it any time soon.

Once I make a trip for Star Tours, I won't be making a trip to WDW until they build something that deserves my money.

Too early to tell. Don't pull a jt here and make me ask for proof. :p

The 40th, and the events after it will show us a lot about what they intend to do here. I have confidence in their efforts for a 40th, and beyond, but at the same time, I do know (or think I do) how TDO likes to think....hopefully they see what FLE does for them, and they don't stop there, rest on their laurels, and think that the FLE will hold us over.

We shall see. The future is clouded by a disturbance in the Force.:lookaroun

Can't let all that cloud it for you. I hate it all, too, it bothers me to no end, but looking at the bigger picture here, this can be something very good.

It's like WS. Strollers, M/G's, ADR's, a few good shows. Does that kill the atmosphere? Heck no. I love it to death. I think the same will happen here, despite the lack of EPCOT.

No, this is completely different. It's fantasyland. Fantasyland is like the Capital Beltway of strollers.

Have you LOOKED at Norway!?:brick::fork::ROFLOL:

Freaking Askershus.

If anything, I hope they delegate and ENFORCE areas for Strollers in this expansion. Those purple blobs of plastic ruin the theme so much...Ugh.

Just my opinion, as I believe I'm entitled to on my own site here.

CGI doesn't do anything for me to help promote something such as this. Just like when you see previews of video games that don't show in-game graphics. It's what's in the park that counts, and that CGI ad doesn't show me any of that. I think if anything, that ad will set people up for disappointment when they see the real thing. The reality of what has been built is nowhere near the scale and level of immersion shown in that CGI.

It is called a conceptual teaser sir. It is a 30 second ad just to let people who are not aware of it yet that it is coming.

Think for yourselfer

Not to derail the thread too much, but this is the ugliest thing I have ever seen.

As for the WWoHP ad, I think it's kind of cool. The CGI does not bother me, they are just trying to make everyone aware of what they are doing down in the swamp. It is eye catching, and it needs to be to stand out in the ocean of super bowl ads.

Litle late to the discussion here, but I think the Uni ad is very interesting.

As far as the use of cgi representations to advertise unbuilt (or built) theme park attractions, it's definitely not the norm. But I think it works, and I'd like to see more of it.

To me, the liberties of cgi allow for a more inviting look at what a theme park experience will portray, mainly because actual theme park footage just does not really advertise that well on the tv screen. (With the exception of the weenies. Thinks of Mickey waving on top of SSE.)

Since most theme park experiences are designed to be absorbed from live, first person perspective, you never are going to get a good enough effect. It's why all commercials that do show actual attractions (including Disney's) tend to show "modified representations" or quick, split-second footage.

Take for example, Disney's recent commercial featuring TSMM. What you see is a scene morphing from the Toy Story characters playing in someone's attic into a cutout of the TSMM ride vehicle within their "play area." This commercial was actually way more of a stylized fancification that the Uni HP ad.

Your only other option is the complete, no-footage tease, which can work effectively. That's how TWDC usually advertises their stuff, including their films. They want to show you the least amount as possible.

Frankly, I would rather see a cgi representation of what will actually be or is there (even if it is dimensionally stylized or enhanced), rather than fanciful portrayals that show mostly things that will not be present.

But all this being said, I want to change gears to the Dragon ride. The tail, as you can see, morphs into an inverted coaster car. Does this represent the retheming of an existing inverted coaster, or does this refer to the ride vehicle of the new, signature attraction?
