🤔 Lookie here who's standing to the left of Elon

The movie is self-directed and stars an actor sharing the same last name of Peltz. So, I guess that's why he's there, to support a relative.

Why Elon is there is unknown.

The subject of the film would upset a certain class of culture warriors, which makes it odd Elon's there to support it. But, that's as far as I think we can say on the subject....

He's there to support his 29 year old daughter / actress Nicola Peltz.

Couple of things. One is ESPN is going nowhere. The the reason is sports gambling, which may actually end up being more profitable than streaming. In 2022 there was 93.2 billion bets placed in USA sportsbooks (per google). Disney is going to use ESPN to get in on a hefty piece of that pie. Second, every time someone says Nelson Peltz, my mind goes to the movie Wallstreet, and Gordon Gekko speach on how greed is good. Make Peltz/Gekko go away by hiring the next CEO now. The longer this drags on, the more likely someone like Gordon Gekko gets in control of the board and strips Disney to the bare bones.

disney is very, very afraid of trian and blackwell gaining influence over the company - and that's why they made a new dedicated site about voting disney at the shareholder meeting on april 3, i posted more details in the shareholder meeting thread
They went so far as to create animations featuring Ludwig Von Drake on how to vote and how important it is to do so "no matter how many or how few shares you own."

Here’s a thought on Iger as a CEO - Tim Cook just opened the 5th Avenue Apple Store to debut the Vision pro. When was the last time Iger opened a store, attraction, broadway show, etc.?

I believe it's been a minute since he's made a public appearance. He was at WDW fairly recently (last month or two).

I'm no Iger defender, but he is not known for hiding away in his private shower in Burbank.
Oh that’s right! They put those topiaries out at boardwalk to impress him. Haha.

Frozen opened on Broadway in 2018, closed for the pandemic. It's currently running a US tour that plans to sunset later this year.

As far as attractions, we can't count the US? Weird limitation for a global company, but all the attractions that have opened in the last few years have his fingerprints as the CEO on them. Does Tiana's count?

Are we pretending that Disney is only WDW and also ignoring everything that does happen? The future is empty and dour, previous projects Tron/Epcot/Guardians/JoW took way too long. But Iger did oversee a ton of additions all the way up to the Pandemic. Not to mention the most successful year of movies for a single studio ever in 2019.

If you're going to get on him for his mistakes and follys you have to give him credit for his successes.

Sorry…. I may not have been clear. I wasn’t saying Tim Cook “opened” a store on 5th Avenue - he was there, as a surprise, at the opening time to greet fans who were in line for the vision pro.

Iger was there with his good friend and potential CEO to replace Iger - Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner at the grand opening of the NBA Experience at Disney Springs. NBA closed up shop at DS about a year ago.
