First I would never inject anything into my body that wasn't administered by a Dr. for health concerns. If your implying that I am a drug user, you know where you can go . second you are forgeting about Alcohol, just as bad if not worse if you have a drinking problem, It is unfortunat that I know many people addicted to drinking . personaly I can't drink it makes me sick which I would consider a positive thing .

If you want to know what most other countries think of the USA and 9/11 as well as the reasons for their views you might want to check out the book "911" by Noam Chomsky. It's a good read and might be a wake up call for some of you.

My dad was Catholic and my mom was a jehovah witness! Talk about your differances in religion! But my point is we can all live in peace Muslims, jews, catholic, protestant why can`t they in Ireland?

I think the problems over religion are ridiculous too, but remember, even america has had recent problems of a similar sort with racial segregation etc.

As long as there are narrow minded people there will always be these problems.

Yes, but hit us first. We can wait. Heck, North Africa and Europe have a huge threat. Does the USA have to bail them out again? Are they too weak to respond to the threat? Let's let Europeans figure this one out. As I said, Tony Blair might even give it a go.

Its not just Europe's problem, its the world's problem.

I accept that saddam is more likely to sell his weapons of mass destruction than use them himself (he's not that stupid,) but something needs to be done.

And as for the US bailing people out, i think you'll find it works both ways. This has had such a profound effect, mainly because it is maybe the second attack ever on America as a modern country?

Other countries with much more substancial histories have managed to survive for a long time without america.

...yep, I know...but that's kinda like Mother's Day....I'm talking about a Memorial Day, July 4th type holiday...a state and federal holiday where schools and businesses close....and everyone celebrates another day off but don't know why.

"ok, mommy, let's go to the beach on September 11th"...."sorry Johnny, can't take ya cuz JC Penny's having a sale on hampers and bathroom scales"

Heck, more than half the world dislikes the USA as it is! The reason is simple, they don't have the advantage of living in the USA.

Aren´t you generalizing a whole lot? I don´t think that is the reason why the US might be disliked in other parts of the world.

Maria, how is the USA perceived where you are?

And has it ever really bothered Mexicans or Canadians or South Americans or Central Americans that the United States of America is refered to as "America" itself, since you all are part of an "America" of another sort? Just wondered.

Prberk,

Are you doing a school paper? :animwink:

I´m afraid I can´t really answer your question. I need to be politically correct! :D :animwink:
Serioulsy though, Mexico has had the "no intervention" policy for years and years... We weren´t that pleased with the reaction of our president after 9-11, we thought he made a mistake with a late response to Bush.
In any case, we were happy of not participating in a war although we know that if something happens to the US, we are very affected by it. In fact, the attacks of 9-11 affected our economy a lot (as well as many mexicans died there). I am aware that if the US goes to war in their territory, there is a huge chance that we will be hit too and that scares me. I say I could agree with Rodrigo (MKCustodial) when he says George W.Bush is a cowboy, but our president, Fox, is a bigger one.... So... you can see we have enough things to criticize in here to be paying attention to other systems.

And most of them would be speaking German and bowing to a short guy with a mustache.

But hey, who needs the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

P.S. Yes we are the United States of America, or the United States, or the USA, or even the U.S., but we are not just America.

P.S.S. Nothing against Canada or Mexico, but I don't think they would still be around if they didn't border the USA.

I agree with your first sentence, you are not just America. America is the whole continent from top to bottom.

I disagree with your second sentence. We were here first, and we are still here. Don´t understimate us. If it weren´t for us, (and a stupid president we had) the US wouldn´t be that big, not to mention the minds and labor you have working there who are mexicans.

You're right and most of the countries in Europe are still there. Let's see, England, France, Germany, even Russia were all threatened by Hitler and the U.S. helped rid the world of that threat.

Where was Mexico? How many troops has Mexico lost defending the rest of the world all these years?

And yes there are alot of Mexicans working over here, legal and illegal, but why would they leave Mexico to work here?

Makes you wonder.

We have the "no intervention" policy. We are a peaceful country. That´s the reason. The fact that we didn´t participate in any war other than the ones that we have had inside our own country, doesn´t make respect my country less or any other that didn´t participate in WW´s. I think I respect it more for not getting involved in any politic argument or war with any other country in the world.

Yes, unfortunately, there are many mexicans working there, doing the cheap labor you don´t want to do. There are also many american companies based here for that cheap labor. Have you ever wondered who made the pair of Lee/Gap/you name it clothes you are wearing? Most likely, not an US citizen. Yes, money is on your side, but that doesn´t make it all, you know? Unfortunately, the idea of the "american dream" is popular among the people who have less and they risk everything and leave their families here for a few dollars doing the jobs nobody wants to do there. What would you do without them? There are also many americans moving to Mexico, don´t forget that... they come here for the peace it provides them, the weather, or for business too, and I can assure you that many of them are ilegally staying and not living like kings.

Agreed. I'm really trying to stay out of this, it's a very sensitive subject. Americans are probably the most patriotic people I know, maybe second to Japanese people. And if you guys really wanna know the truth, it's stuff like acellis coments that make people dislike the US. Have they helped out? Definately. Would I like to live there some day? Sure. But there was world before the US, and there probably will be even if they "stop helping". And the whole "drug war" down here in South America has been kinda dubious for some time...

Maria,
I apologize for offending you and I'm glad to see you love your country. All I'm trying to say is that if the USA had a "no intervention" policy, alot of countries would not be around. At least not the way we know them.

I also feel it's easy to sit back and say "We are a peaceful country" when you have a world power at your front door. You, me, and the rest of the world knows that if another country attacked Canada or Mexico, we would step up and help defend you.

As far as our companies coming to your country for cheap labor, or your countrymen coming to our countryand working for cheaper wages, I agree with you.

I think your government shouldn't allow our companies to take advantage of your people.

Anyway I just wanted to say I'm Sorry for offending you.

P.S. Go read my last post on the Tree of Life Contest. I wrote it before I wrote this.:D
