So when would Disaster be closing?

It says a Summer 2015 opening, but no rough closing date...

HTF mentioned he is not aware of a closing date, but prep work has started... I would think, after the holiday rush, the attraction may be going down for the count... So, given that time frame, a little over a year for another massive e-ticket... And yet, another theme park would just finally be opening a minor little coaster...

I am actually looking more forward to Seven Dwarves than I am Gringotts. I am thinking it is going to be a fun attraction and a good family coaster. A Harry Potter attraction with secondary characters and more 3D screens just does not sound all that appealing. Potter peaked 5 years ago, and is continuing on its downward course.

Star Wars is where it will be at!

Awesome news from HTF!

It's got me wondering how much of Disaster might be reused for Kong.

How much more space would the ride have if they decided to expand the footprint? Does Hogwarts Express pin them in from expanding at all?

Will Kong be an animatronic? If so, don't you imagine Uni Creative sees this as a chance to one-up the Yeti? One of the reasons Kongfrontation was such a popular ride was because of the animatronics involved, so hopefully the new ride will recognize that.

So two E-tickets opening at the same resort in two different parks in 2015 -- has that ever happened before? (Like an E-ticket opens in MK and Epcot in the same summer?)

Sounds unprecedented to me, and it further confirms what HTF, Spirit, marni, etc have been saying: Universal isn't slowing down at all. They actually seem to be accelerating in their projects. It's stunning.

You are acting like Star Wars will be open the same time Gringotts opens. It s highly unlikely that a unannounced Star Wars area will be built in time to meet the New Harry Potter section opening.

Gringotts will be more than just another ride with 3D screens. Did you not read HTF's post on Orlando United last night?

Lol. Try a little harder to be less obvious... Your post just looks utterly ridiculous. It's pretty obvious you didnt read the HTF post or that you just have a hard time with reading comprehension as Gringotts is very clearly more than "3D screens." Lol. I mean really, by that account, Star Wars peaked in the early 80s considering most people thought the new movies were tripe. Not to mention they haven't even decided the scope of any Star Wars expansion, and we all know Disney doesn't like to err on the side of "big" when it comes to "scope". Troll.

I did. A rollercoaster with 3D glasses does not sound all that appealing to me. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was one of the rare attactions in Orlando(Mission Space Orange being the other), that actually made me physically ill. This sounds like it could be the same deal. I guess we will know in 2014.

It would be interesting to see how they pull that off...as passive 3D (heck, all 3D) requires that the glasses be lined up in a certain way to function well...

It works for the kuka arm rides because they can "stop" and "slow" the ride to give you specific views, but with a coaster...<shrug>

Not saying it's not doable, just very interested in how they would pull it off...

No they probably didn't. They also probably don't understand that Harry Potter is a perennial because it has been read by more people than the Judeo-Christian bible.

Potter mania is way down from its levels 5 years ago. Until JK writes a new story, it will just drift further into obscurity. Heck, even Daniel Radcliffe wants nothing to do with Potter anymore.

Just because FJ made you ill doesn't mean it is only going to have 3D screens (Neither did FJ for that matter). That's a silly correlation that you just tried to make.

?? What is he supposed to do? Go around wearing the glasses and carry his wand shouting spells? Every time I've seen him interviewed he is extremely appreciative of Potter. Pretty clear you have no idea what you are talking about...

And yes, obviously the "mania" for Potter has died a bit but so has it for Star Wars as well... That is besides the weirdos who live in mom's basement who eat and breathe Star Wars. But the HP fandom still exists, the books are still being bought and read, movies still being watched. It's not like the generation of kids (and adults) who read the books aren't introducing them to their children as well. And it isn't exactly like Universal has stopped doing gangbusters business because of Potter in their parks.

No biggie everyone is entitled to their opinions and your not the only one to get physically ill on the FJ and Mission Space. I will say though if you get the chance in the future please try the FJ again. The ride just finished another rrogramming and without a doubt the best reprogram yet. Animation and FP'S were altered making the dome sequences much smoother and the Kuka movements toned down in a couple of jerky transitions. It doesn't effect the ride experience but does cut back on motion blur, motion sickness, and protein spills...

I will try it again, however as a Potter fan, I thought Forbidden Journey failed to capture the magic of Potter. The storyline was weak(flying benches really?), and they basically just threw you in front of various monsters from the Potter series while they jerked you around. Even the Dementor finale lacked any pop, where was the huge Patronus light to banish the creatures? It was just a massive disappointment(to be fair I also think Star Tours could use a more cohesive storyline as well).
