The TTA

I may just be weird, but I love the little "space" music inside Space Mountain. It's not "music", but it's that space sound effects. Kinda cosmic sounding. Really, really cool.

If you're weird, then I'm even weirder because I have the music on my computer. I love SM's queue music. I was a little sad when "Sentimental Journey" was removed from the exit ramp.

TTA is a classic MK attraction, I can't see how it would ever close down. It would be too hard in my opinion. Besides, how could Disney manage to change it into something else? I just can't see it. But then again, I would have never imagined Stitch in the MK...

I absolutely love the TTA! It seems like there is always a pleasant breeze blowing when you're riding it, even on a really warm day. I also really love riding a few times in a row just to rest for a bit and enjoy the great scenery.

I had forgotten that Alamo Car Rentals is sponsoring the TTA now. I'm glad I rented the car for my trip to WDW in two weeks from Alamo!!! :animwink:

That was for the main station and the tracks around RocketTower Plaza. The other areas, specifically the stripes near Space Mountain, were left untouched.

I dont think it will go away. It is a large volume attraction that gets plenty of use during the summer months.

Ya this is one of those attractions that will stay just because it was one of the first...Plus if they took it out, T-land would look very empty in away....

I still get chills when I walk past the entrance to the Sky buckets entrance...I have never gotten to go on them since I was too young but everytime I see it I wish I could see it in working operations.....

I love the attraction but I do hope they can touch up the Model of City of Tommorrow. The model is fine but the area around it needed to be painted last time I was there.

I would think being part of Disney history like the model is that they would take pride in the area showcasing this model.

It should have been a great attraction...

And Rocket Rods WERE a LOT of fun to ride, when they were running.

It broke down a LOT (think the early days of Test Track, and you've got it), however, and there were not safety rails everywhere along the elevated tracks, so there was no easy and safe way to allow guests stranded in the cars along the way to EXIT the stopped attraction.

What a sad, sad situation and ultimate end for a great ride idea.

I wish I could find a video of the TTA taken when the Skyway was still open!

That Skyway building is terribly ugly looking when it's empty, especially on a cloudy day, like in that video poste above - ugh - it looks bad.

The original Calafornian entracnce was like WDWs, under the Star Jets - though with 2 sets of Speedramps. This was oblitereated in the 1995-8 revamp to Rocket Rods, which used the CircleVision building as it`s entrance and queue, then descended into a maintainence tunnel under Tomorrowland to the Star Jets platform where an enclosed staircase took the queue to the loading platform. The actual area the speedramps were accessed from had a `dj` booth placed infront of it. However, due to incompetence at the highest levels, Rocket Rods literally tore itself apart and the adapted 1967 Peoplemover track still stands empty, with the Rods guidebar and busbar rusting away.

Just for accuracy's sake I wanted to note that I believe the queue tunnel was created specifically for the attraction. There was a point in time during construction where you couldn't go to the left around the area between the old Circlevision Theater exit and the former Peoplemover loading area. During that time I'm pretty sure they were excavating the tunnel.
Also, the 'dj' booth was actually on the backside facing the current Innoventions. It was a Radio Disney booth where they supposedly broadcast from, though I never saw anyone in it (it did look like it was being used, though). It recently was converted into a store that sells mostly lightsabers and other Star Wars items (since it is next to the Jedi Academy show). The area that used to be the first ramp was turned into a huge planter, in front of which is usually a popcorn cart, and to the right of which is a lousy DVC cart.
As for Rocket Rods itself, it was a horrible waste of two attractions - Circlevision and Peoplemover. It was also insanely noisy (for some reason I always perceived the future to be quieter), making whining, squealing and beeping noises constantly. Additionally, it destroyed the atmosphere of Tomorrowland in general, making the future look like it was designed by a ferret on crack. It didn't have a Disney feel to it at all, in my mind, and gave you no time to enjoy your surroundings. Perhaps if they had just slowed it down to Peoplemover speed and added a narration track similar to Peoplemover's, they might have been okay...except that the cars had no roof and would have been awful in the rain (not that it mattered since we frequently had to shut them down when it rained. They tended to slide downhill when the track and wheels got wet). I truly hope Lassetter greenlights a replacement Peoplemover soon.
By the way, hi Martin! Sorry about the TOT thing!

The TTA= the ultimate relaxing ride in the MK,I could ride it for hours. I saw a video of Disneyland's Peoplemover on Youtube and I am still bedazzled as to why they removed it.

I could have sworn the tunnel was at least a 1967 original, but I stand corrected. All I can find is the tunnel from the north east side of the Carousel theatre building that crosses north of the Rocket Jets platform, and then heads east behind the CV building (Buzz) - it dosn`t go under the Peoplemover platform at all.

I LOVE this ride also! I think it must have to do with getting some time to take in the views of the MK. My family has to ride TTA at least 5 times everytime we're in the MK.

It would be devestating to see it go, so I hope and pray it NEVER happens!

Just a question--

When they rehab Space Mountain eventually will the music I mentioned be removed? The Star Tunnel music? I hope not. Did Disneyland's music themes change in 2005 when they renovated theirs?

I rode the TTA for the first time on my trip on the 11. It was so great. We went to ride it again and then it started to rain so it was the last ride I rode this trip, besides the magical bus back to Pop Century.
