The Transportation and Ticket Center...time for a refurb?

Every time I ride the monorail, I think to myself how dated the TTC looks. It could really look a lot better/more futuristic IMO. I mean even though Epcot's monorail station is basically the same as it was 25 years ago it still looks modern/futuristic.

I don't mean that the TTC needs to be futuristic, but I'd like to see something different.

I remember this topic sort of got brought up in another thread (the exact one escapes me right now). Just for the record, the TTC definitely, without a doubt, needs a refurbishment. And not one of those half refurb jobs-it needs a complete overhaul. What is there now is just not the way one should enter WDW as people make their way to the MK. It doesn't have to be futuristic per se, but something, anything, would be better than what is currently there now.

I agree. Completely redo it. It needs a COMPLETE overhaul. It's just so RETRO. In some cases, that wouldn't be a bad thing, but this is a complex that needs to keep with the times...

My favorite rumor is that it will be substantially downsized or moved out to the current parking lot and the land where it sits will become a new resort or DVC built on the monorail loop. I can't tell you how much I love the idea of a resort there that faces the MK. Seems like a "no brainer".

This may be just me but if your staying on property you really have no reason to go to the TTC unless you are connecting on the monorail from MK to Epcot or Monorail resort to Epcot. Then its just down one ramp and up another. Since I finally saw the light and started staying on property I cant even tell you what the TTC looks like other than the monorail loading areas.

I don't know if it's just that it's Disney, but I've always liked the TTC.
Maybe just nostalgia.

Though I definitely wouldn't mind Mark VIII monorails.
Anybody know when we're getting those?

I have always thought they needed to update the colors/CM uniforms. That purple/gold/teal just isn't cutting it!

We had a little surprise at the TTC this go 'round. When we were there in 2006, you could still catch resort buses there. So, we had dinner ressies for the Cape May's. I had planned to just walk to the TTC from Poly, catch a bus and be there. Quickly found out that the only buses available were to the other parks and Shades of Green. Ended up having to catch the express Monorail to the MK, then get the Beach Club bus. Then the bus made a very weird detour via Coranado Springs(!). Good thing we left well in advance of our trip!

The TTC is subtle genius and the last guest loading and transfer station that Walt personally designed. The parking lot with the sections named after dwarves and such is just the kind of attention to detail that I expect from a Disney-run guest loading and transfer station.

If even an aisle is restriped, it will be a travesty. Save the TTC! :lookaroun :D

I know this is a little off topic, but It annoys me so much that they don't have direct transportation to DTD and other areas at some of the bus areas, including TTC. I know Disney is just trying to stop people from the convenience of parking at DTD without paying- but come on! It's so inconvenient. I wish it was back to the good ole days where you could hop a bus anywhere and go anywhere and not have to, for instance, take a bus from Epcot to Sarasota Springs and then WALK the long walk to DTD. Obviously, Ive had to do that before. lol

They haven't completely abandoned the TTC. I mean, you got the nice little topiaries and there's music. But it does sometimes feel like a 'dead zone' or 'no mans land' when you walk through there. I think the general portion just needs some freshening up. But have you walked past Mickey's Gift Station to the back Bus pick-up/drop-off lot?? It's atrocious! It's a dirty and rundown circle of cracked pavement! I mean, the benches are in rough shape and it just feels like you've left WDW property. It's certainly not up to date as far as Disney's standards go. I even saw a Bus CM lady walk by me smoking a cig! I couldn't believe it!

I Love that Idea! Sometime last year Debbie and I were heading somewhere for a dinner res. Not sure where, but We decided to go down below at TTC. To get there, not realizing that You really can't get too many places from there. AHHHHH. So We waited for the first bus to anywhere, which turned out to be MGM at the time and switched over from there. But yeah, that place seems like "the place that time forgot". It was like We stopped at some closed down amusement park. LOL. I know that there are alot of people who are sick of hearing about anything new for DVC. and I am truely sorry that it is upsetting, but I agree with You that it would be great to have that space as another resort with a monorail stop right there. :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

The condition of that area was actually my first clue that I wasn't going to be able to get a bus to the Beach Club back there!
