Trip Report The Story Comes ALIVE! *COMPLETED*

Hello again, my friends.

For nearly a decade it has been such a joy for me to write about 50 (yes, 50!) different trips that I have taken to WDW - including one that was virtual. ;)

The reason? You, the reader.

I don’t do trip reports for my own documentation. I have journals for that. I write because I love interacting with y’all. Your encouragement, humor, curiosity and even snark (*ahem* @amjt660) assure me that I am not alone in my crazy affection for Disney parks. A big thanks to each of you!

I am very fortunate to be a frequent visitor to WDW (despite what @Mr Ferret 88 believes, I do not live there!) and am entering a season of monthly visits. Trip reporting is time consuming (as those of you who’ve written can attest) but I’m not ready to completely give it up - yet.

What I’d like to do is keep this as an ongoing TR for the rest of 2023. It will be highlights and moments, with live posting as the goal. My story coming alive, so to speak.

First up is spring break with my favorite girl.

Followed closely by a getaway with my favorite guy.

There will be Magician meets. New experiences. And (as always) the unexpected.

I hope you’ll join the fun!

I was hungry when we arrived at TRON and when we disembarked I was downright hangry! Though it wouldn’t normally be my first choice for lunch, Cosmic Ray’s was the nearest QS so I quickly placed a mobile order and we headed in that direction.

As we approached the restaurant I pushed “I’m Here” and started up the steps towards the door…

…but I tripped, and face-planted on the concrete. Hard.

My right hand/wrist took the brunt of the fall, but both my palms were scraped and bloody, knees skinned and I could feel the wrist and leg bruises forming. At the moment I wasn’t sure which was worse - the embarrassment or the pain.

Woody and another guest asked if I was all right before helping me to stand. I was a bit shaken but was able to get up. I went straight to the restroom inside to tend to the wounds.

Ouch.

By then our mobile order was ready. I sat at a table while Woody got the food. Despite the pain from the fall I was still very hungry and downed my cheeseburger.

But when lunch was over, I knew where we had to go.
E did that in Italy. Face-planted and ate some sidewalk. Her nose is finally healing. Hope it didn't affect your trip too much!!

Poor E! Hoping for no scar on her pretty face!

As for my last two days at WDW?

Episode 1 Healing GIF by New Amsterdam
Nope, no visible scars on her face. I think it was more embarrassing than anything, though she did say it stung to put on sunscreen after that. But she's ok.

I guess that's the good thing about Disney... Lots of distractions. And some attractions are worth enduring a bit of pain to experience... And a lot of them wouldn't anger the injuries. There's a great big beautiful tomorrow!

Woody and I agree this was a vacation of highs and lows, without much middle ground. He would have preferred our days to have been steady, without the peaks and valleys. We did have fun - but next time want the roller coaster to be TRON or BTMRR, not our circumstances!

Nearly two weeks later, evidence of my fall is still apparent on my palms and right knee. Em has forbidden me to wear my newer and oh-so-comfortable(!) Tevas on our upcoming trip. I know she’s right….and as much as it pains me….I don’t want the pain of another fall.

We ending up really liking our 4th floor room. It meant we were first off the elevators. And we were far enough down the hall to avoid noise. Though we saw no fireworks, we enjoyed the people watching from our window (a pseudo balcony 😉). I wouldn’t hesitate to request a lower floor (rather than a higher floor) on my next stay.

However any future stay will not be during cheerleader/dance competitions, when Coronado Springs is a host resort. The aggravation of an overcrowded food court and buses, coupled with not being able to eat dinner at our resort, was a big negative in an otherwise lovely stay.

Ironically the cheerleaders (and their families) did not impact our time in the parks. We enjoyed low/manageable waits without having to pay the Genie.

Rain was a factor in not getting to do all we'd wanted. Astute observers may have noticed that Tuvalu did not see any fireworks this week!! :jawdrop:(Fear not, I hope to rectify this next visit.) We'd also hoped for more pool time. I want to give props (not a shout out, shouting is loud ;)) to the CMs in charge of the pool games at The Dig Site. Instead of "Cheer for your favorite attraction!" the Encanto-themed games were "Pose like Luisa" and "Mirabel's Pass the Butterfly" - both of which were blissfully quiet!

As always, it was fun to meet other Magicians. There are so many nice folks in this Trip Report forum.

Sadly I have to return my favorite souvenir of the trip.

I wouldn't have thought size 6 months would be too small for 4-month-old Tuvalad. But the Hulk baby is currently 17 lbs. Fingers crossed I can swap this for size 12 months!

Thank you @Tuvalu for yet again your on-point conclusion of your trip.

I agree with @TrolleyFollower91 with the advice! Maybe also check for a soft brace to encapsulate that knee a bit more?

Enjoy your afternoon (?) and looking forward to the next adventures.

Ps. That baby romper is adorable!

Ohh it’s so cute! He is going to be a big dude! 🤣
Thanks for sharing. And please do not wear those Tevas. 😉

I'm not understanding the Teva hostility? I wear mine absolutely everywhere and can't live without them when there's water involved! Including a 7 hour cliffside hike on Kauai.
I Love You Hug GIF
It’s not hostility. I’ve worn Tevas for a decade and love them, especially in the rain. But my newest pair has a different bottom (which I did not notice until recently) and may not grip as well. My family (and sweet friends @93boomer and @Laurenciaa) are merely concerned for my future safety. :inlove:

That’s right! We love our Tuvalu and want her to be safe. 😊
I wear Tevas too.

Haven't bought a new pair of Tevas in a few years. Just wondering -- does your newest pair have rubber soles, or are they switching rubber for some other (not as good) outsole instead? Rubber was always a big selling point for me. (I still have 3 pairs of Tevas that I wear in the summer, and all of them have rubber soles -- excellent grip.)

Just joking about the hostility and I'm pretty sure we all worry about your future safety!

Hoping you have healed up, and I have noticed each time I get a new pair of Tevas they are changing something on them.

The grip is why I started wearing them and the biggest thing I've noticed with mine is that the soles are 2 parts that do not stay together very long (this has definitely changed since my originals many moons ago). I use Gorilla Glue to put them back together, but notice I have to do that a lot more frequently. Although I do put a lot of miles on them...
