The Sponsor-less Land and Test Track's lack of Fuel

DD would definitely get my vote. Personally I can not stand Starbucks coffee...far to bitter for my taste. Their espresso drinks are good though.

I moved from Florida 2 years ago to Indy and finally found a DD up here.Brand new.For a while my mom had to Fed Ex coffee from DD to us to get our fix.

Now if I can only find Sonnys BBQ up here.

Just out of curiosity how much fuel does the average person go through a week in the UK?

Don't know if I'm your average Joe , but I'm putting in about £50 every 14 days or so. I think that's about $93.12 (if £1 = $1.86). The price of diesel, which I use in my car is currently £1.25 a ltr ($8.81 a gallon) and rising as we speak!! :brick:

I'm placing bets for 'Cars' tie-in exhibit.

I haven't got a problem with pixar or any other tie-in. However, I think that GM are very happy to continue sponsoring TT and the cars from "Cars" are not all manufacturer specific. Do you think they'll stick a Chevy badge on Lightning??

I work for GM Europe, and have been in the corp facility at TT many times (but not in the past 2 years), I don't think they intend to pull out any time soon.

Over here in the UK we are paying (about) £1.15 a ltr. That converts to $8.10 a (US) gallon!!!

i know that you drive much more fuel efficient cars there and mass transit is much easier to come by. i just recall ever seeing gas guzzling trucks/ suv's over there.

A friend of mine who moved from MI down to FL swears to me-- "If the south had Noodles & Co. and the north had Sonnys BBQ, there would be world peace."

We went to Sonnys once and it was pretty fantastic...it would be sure great to have them.

Yep...I have been eating at Sonnys all over Fl for about the last 30 plus years.The closest one to me here is in Ky.
There is no good BBQ anywhere up here that comes even close.

You'd be surprised how many "Chelsea Tractors" we have on our roads! ("Chelsea Tractors" are the big 4x4's that mum's use to take their kids to school. the nearest they get to off road is the car park at the local superstore :lol::lol. In fact, we have just opened a new Hummer showroom in Manchester! But, yes we do drive smaller cars in general.

Having said that, I have noticed that over the years ( I've been coming over the US & Canada since 1980 when I was 10) more Americans seem to be choosing smaller cars. Especially over the last 6 years or so.

We seem to have shot off at a tangent,sorry!!

we didnt go smaller, but we sure did go more fuel efficient with this last purchase.

the toyota prias has a 2 year waiting time at a local dealer. nice.

Considering the direction in which Test Track is set to head within the next 2-4 years, that is far from unlikely. Actually... Its the most likely candidate on the board at this point...

Like I said before, I have no problem with characters as long as they are used to educate as well as entertain, but there's just nothing really wrong with Test Track to warrant a change like that. Post-show? Okay. Unnecessary ride retheme? No thank you!

I was just thinking, there have been a few sponsors to leave Disney lately. Any ideas why?

I guess they should just change the signs coming off of I-4 to "Welcome to Pixar World" now...It's pretty much the direction things are heading.

I didn't have time to read the whole thread but I don't think anyone mentioned the possiblility of a Fuel Cell exhibit. I recently saw one in person and it's very interesting. Maybe that might be worked in?

Die? Why, Nemo resurrected a fading pavilion stripped of its original charm and attractions. I can near-guarantee you that a non-character TLS wouldn't have got as near a big budget, nor such big lines. :shrug:

As in die I ment the takeover of Pixar and the unfortunate inclusion of too many characters in a Futuristic Pavilion meant to exhibit the beauty and magnitude of the seas and their involvement in our future.

Hence,EPCOT Center>Epcot.

Meh.Just a opinion.

I don't see Test Track becoming a Cars tie-in if GM continues to sponsor it because a lot of the cars in the movie were not GM. If GM were ever to sponsor a movie tie-in attraction, I think there is probably more of chance them doing it where the cars are actually Transformers (pretty much every car in the movie was a Pontiac, Chevy, Cadillac, etc... ), rather than Cars.

Perhaps they are tired of sponsors trying to micro-manage things. I really don't think Disney needs the corporate sponsor's money so it could just be a way to simplify things and gain creative control of the parks. Besides if Disney needs people to micro-manage what they do they always have us here. :lol:

While I won't say the extent of the refurbishment currently on the table, I will say that some effects and systems will be installed in Test Track (or whatever it is by that time) in preparation for DCA's Radiator Springs Racer attraction. Again, I'm not saying anything about how Test Track will be affected by these changes just yet, but look for some show scene updates in the coming year or so. Remember that Test Track is the base for the Radiator Springs attraction, and what better attraction to test new effects on if not an attraction that after ten years has Imagineers calling for an update anyways...

As for the post show, I'm half and half on the closure of Fuel for Thought. I was excited at the prospect of a more-tech aware exhibit in the post-show for Test Track, but I was disappointed by the lack of hands on experiences or enough "edjutainment" to keep guests captivated for even five minutes. The exhibit ended up wasting more energy than it set out to save. Personally, I have a strong feeling we will see GM use this space for something a little more interesting, and a little more reasonable from a sponsor stand point. As for the future of the space, that will be reassessed when the pavilion receives its refurbishment as mentioned above.

While this is true, GM gets a strong amount of publicity from the attraction. Everything I've been told has reassured me that they are in it for the long haul. Even if Cars eventually makes its way into the attraction in some form (I won't comment yet), GM will still remain as a sponsor--especially since their investment is in the pavilion as a whole (in whatever state it is in during the duration of their contract).

2-4 years, but yep. Extensive? Maybe. The more noticable changes would be inside of the building, as the facade wouldn't need too much changing. But again, the plans are not yet finite.
