The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

He's just messing around. No one in their right mind can think Avatar will hang with HP 2.0. I think Avatar could be great, but it will not be the same level as Potter. Disney simply won't put the money into it like Comcast did with HP 2.0.

I think you meant to say Disney will spend twice as much and half as much to show for it.

I can only speak for myself, but I am not remotely a potter fan - I have not seen one single movie. However, I can't wait to see this new land. It looks to be spectacular. I wish Disney were about to open something on this scale in 2014.
Me to, I haven't read a book or watched a single movie, but what they did minus dragon challenge and hippo griff is downright incredible. I didn't need to know anything about Potter to know I was experiencing something pretty amazing. I can't wait for HP 2.0 because they are starting from scratch and not redoing old rides. This land is going to blow everything out of the water Disney has ever done. The two rides alone in the two Potter lands are better than any ride at WDW.

Daniel Radcliffe stated himself he is done with Potter. Ron Weasley supposedly is the main character in the new attraction.

I am a huge Potter fan, and came away severely disappointed in Potter 1.0. I have low expectations for 2.0, but maybe Universal will surprise me.
Just because he said he is done with Potter doesn't mean he didn't already film scenes for the attraction, and said that AFTER they filmed... ;)
Again, by all accounts, he is in the ride and plays a major role... Just look up HTF's post.. he tells you who is in the attraction...

Got it for ya, no need for you to go digging:

There are all the characters which will be in the ride... Notice Harry is there... :)

Based on news from another thread it looks like the mine train will not "officially" open until May. When's Diagon Alley supposed to open? June? Looks like the gap is going to be really short between these two, which is not good for Disney.

How was the cruise? How would you compare the experience to WDW? Did you stay at a WDW resort?

The cruise was amazing, the service was impeccable as always. We did the St Maartin, St Thomas Eastern Caribbean cruise. The Disney Fantasy has become a very smooth operation over its first 100 cruises. I do have a random concern that they will become afraid to change out the shows on the ships because of fear of WDW style 'all change is bad' backlash.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for only a single night, but the service at the Lodge has IME always been great.

After hitting DAK, Epcot and MK...I was very much wishing for lower attendance. WDW can't be a 'magical experience' when it is so crowded. You can't keep Main Street clean when it is shoulder to shoulder people all day.

The same can be said with Pandora as well of course.
If Cameron would allow them to do it. I guess with HP, Rowling would likely have final say on it as well.

The difference is in the breadth of the source content. HP has far more points of reference that are well established and easy to jump from. JKR built out a wide universe of characters, locations, folklore, etc. Avatar does not have that same breadth of established universe behind it. In fact, it was picked on for being so shallow when it comes to the characters... making connections even more difficult.

The only character I doubt will be in the Gringotts ride is Voldemort

One ride housed in a building not nearly as iconic as Hogwarts and without Harry himself playing a major role.

Rumors suggest otherwise, but do you really think people would stay away from the entire expansion if Daniel Radcliffe didn't appear in the Gringotts ride?

Personally, I don't think it matters one iota. Either you're a fan of the series in which case you'd be interested in the entire land, or you're a fan of good theme park design in which case you'd be interested in the entire land, or you're a fan of fun rides in which case you'd be interested in the ride.

Which of these groups says "no" if Radcliffe doesn't appear in the ride?

They have the right to create a ride using a version of the comic book characters. AFAIK, they do know have the right to use the movie versions of the characters. In other words, an Avengers simulator with cartoons voiced by anonymous actors would be fine, but not one with a live-action film featuring RDJ and Chris Hemsworth.

It's been a while since I've read it, and I know I promised the world that I'd read it and explain it after the Bar Exam (oops!)

I think people would be surprised by what Universal *could* do with Marvel if they wanted to. Unfortunately (well not really), Universal already has so much going on and planned that they don't need to use/expand Marvel. It wouldn't be worth the legal headache (I guess the Mouse would put up some sort of fight) right now when they already have a successful Marvel Island and plans for other areas in IoA and USF with even more exciting IP on the way.

Universal holds all the cards. It's really mind-blowing for someone who became a Universal fan in 2007. The dynamic has shifted.

I don't think I'll ever tire of them myself. Maybe that's the mostly recovered Pixie Dust addict inside me (BTW, have things gotten so bad that everyone is making meth out of cold/sinus meds?!? I mean, seriously, you have to sign your name when buying allergy meds at CVS! What a country ...) but I can spend a day just walking around DAK's animal exhibits or a night around WS.

I think the latter definitely needs something new. If it isn't going to be an attraction or an actual new pavilion, then at least a new night show that hasn't been bastardized because Bob 'Green' Iger wants an environmentally clean show. He wants to be nice to the environment? how about a transport system revamp that removed buses and doesn't add them? How about making sure Disney doesn't murder any more trees?

What were we talking about?
I don't know what you just said but any post that mentions transport revamp and bus reduction deserves a "like".
