One tidbit of news that will get buried here, and I am used to and OK with that, is that folks wondering why Disney is building what amounts to a second parade route adjacent to MSUSA on this 'second street bypass' are ASSuming that the entire project is simply what has been announced and not a larger project that will spread out over years and possibly change the whole front of the MK.
interesting....

To me, it sounds like you are one of the many miserable people living in a town that isn't what it once was or what you'd like it to be?

And I am glad you like my ''looking for the childhoods that never were and never will be'' quote ... that is one of my favorite lines!

You're right about that brother. I consider most of what I interact with in this city to be beneath me and I do look forward to moving from this city that is almost certainly not what it once was and never will be what I want it to be. I'm sorry. This is theme park town. People move here to take life long vacations. This is not a place to build a meaningful life.

But as far as having "standards" goes, I'm raising mine once again and I urge you to do the same. It roots out a lot of misery and anxiety from life. I make no apologies for this. It's called growing up. Putting someone beneath your social standards doesn't make them inherently bad or even mean that there's anything wrong with them at all. But I do think drawing an honest line is important, and the tough decisions that come with walking on that line are worth making in the pursuit of progress and getting more from life.

That's what everyone seems to say about it. I have no problem saying I liked it better than certain "cannon" titles like Home on the Range and Chicken Little.

Since when are Home On The Range and Chicken Little cannon? Not my opinion, but I think the common view is that both of those are huge embarrassments for WDA (personally, I love Chicken Little).

I assume you can't give more detail, but is this a good change? Tell me they aren't going to destroy Main Street...again:(

Now you have spiked my interest. Can't decide what to think about this. Hopefully any changes will be for the better! The preferred route for disney to take (at least for us as fans) would be to build something like the international street previously planned for disneyland in that area, that way it would truly be a second street and it would be a new area to explore instead of just a boring old bypass. When I originally saw the plans with the parade infrastructure in that area I first thought it would just be used as a direct path for the street parties to the hub. They could build a parade gate near that area of the bypass where the backstage are is located now. By doing this they wouldn't have to bother with as much crowd control like they have to do when they travel all the way down mainstreet. I guess only the future will tell what plans are in store (if there are truly any).

Now for something completely off topic -

What do you get when you mix Death Metal with Japanese Teen Pop

It's simply mindblowing and we all need a palate cleanser I think, so enjoy

Wow, I actually almost like that! Definitely love the heavy metal part, the j pop is it's own beast. Nice combo.

Spirit, are they trying to change the entire front of the park...is there an end game in mind or is it a "lets do this and see what happens" kind of thing?

I agree with the heart of your message, but the idea that they aren't here is just total BS. The harder they claim they never read here, the more often they are here reading or have friends reporting to them ...

Didn't say they CAN'T be here... but simply that it's a one sided conversation. I know you feel (correctly) that they could come here and defend themselves or engage.. but generally they are not. So it's still a one-way thing.

I don't want to speak for steve - but the statement he made is pretty consistent with other proactive site owners. These one-sided discussions always slide into pile-ons that ultimately create other unnecessary drama. It's just proactive in taking the high road and stopping it because it always goes the wrong way.

If you place words out to the world, then it doesn't matter whether you are here to defend them. They speak for themselves ... and nothing is preventing someone from doing just that (like Erica did). That is the adult way. The classy way.

Now, you or others may disagree ... but I think it's open season ... and most assuredly on folks who Tweet anonymously and/or Lifestylers who have blogs etc.

I actually think you and Erica have a very similar opinion on most matters when it comes to the mouse....

Now that the storm here has pretty much passed, back to subject...

I've known for quite awhile now that Iger has been in secret merger talks with an unnamed company. Apparently, this would be his biggest merger yet and would be announced by or on 2015.

Up until now, my best guess was that maybe it's Hasbro. But, the Comcast merger with TWC has me thinking otherwise. Hasbro is too small and not Disney's line of business. As crazy as it sounds, I think TW is good possibility now. I can't think of anything other that is big, has key brand names, and is in line with Disney's core businesses.

If anyone else could think of what else it could be that fits the above qualifiers, I'll lay off the TW poison.

It can't be Viacom-Paramount because they own CBS and half of the CW, so the Feds won't let that one.

It's going to have to be something that would balance things after Comcast-TWC closes...

I've said this before (I believe on a different thread a little while back) but I'm still thinking that maybe Disney is planning on buying up all the old Hanna-Barbera (sp?) stuff that is owned by TW (?). Is this connected to TWC? Does Time Warner out and out own this stuff? I know it used to be a presence in Universal Orlando back when it opened, but as far as I've seen, isn't anymore. There's all the Flintstones and Scooby, that whole catalog. I guess Bugs Bunny and friends would qualify as its WB? It probably depends on how that is all divvied up as far as who owns what and who retains what.

Hasbro might be small but...Disney does have alot of toys that they give the rights out to Mattel to make. Why not try for a smaller company that has their own network, properties, and animation series that are successful and have fan bases?

Mattel is probably way too big for them and doesn''t have its own animation/tv network. Hasbro actually kind of fits.

But we both could be completely off and it could be something absolutely random that no one knows why they'd buy or want.

Btw, has anyone else seen the Muppets showing up in various commercials since the Super Bowl? I've seen one for I think NIssan, one for Subway with Kermit, PIggy, and Swedish Chef, and my personal favorite, the Lipton one with a city full of 'Animals'.

I know plenty of folks on Twitter, including a few quoted in this thread, who remember what the parks were like in the 70s and 80s and simply want to hold Disney to the standards it once set for itself.
Really not all that different from a lot of posters here. Same message, just from different messengers on a different medium.

Although I doubt it will happen, I would be ecstatic if disney bought all the old Hanna barbera characters! I was absolutely obsessed with the Jetsons as a kid. The characters were so lovable and I always dreamed of living in a world they did. Hopefully disney would give them some new life if this would ever happen.

Also loved the Jetsons. Horizons actually reminded me as a kid of what a 'real life' Jetsons apartment would look like. :) The Jetsons and Scooby. But it does bear the question, who owns them? I know they're on Cartoon Network/Boomerang. So...are they TW owned? Would they be up for sale along with the rest of the catalog? And where does Bugs Bunny fit in if at all since I know the Looney Tunes characters are WB owned?

I would only hope if Disney does pick them up, they don't drop the ball like they did on the Muppets.
