The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

Imagine if other boards decided to come over here and start digging up quotes to post someplace...man, they'd have a field day with some of the nutjobs here.

Folks in the Disney Twitverse regularly link to discussions here, usually in a very mocking 'can you believe this?' type of way. And while there is plenty of insanity here from time to time, there is far more intelligent and, just plain fun, discourse about WDW and themed entertainment in general.

What this isn't is an echo chamber.

With so many buildings and lands in Disney parks inspired or copied from real places, you think it would inspire people to visit the real places and not be content with a scaled down model of it.

yeah, but the Disney versions are perfect ...and so much cleaner and everyone (well, except the CMs) speaks English and you can get burgers and chicken nuggets around every bend!!! So there!!!

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between linking to a person's open Twitter feed and linking to published stories, blog posts, news from other sites etc ... the only difference is some people have thin skin and don't want big bad strangers talking about them here (possibly in unflattering terms).

I think it boils down to the typical 'talking about someone when they aren't here to defend themselves'. For people of position, when you are talking about their role/job/impact, etc... that works because they are in effect, public figures. But just because someone posts online, that doesn't put them in that same category... and you fall into the inevitable trap of talking about the people vs the message, etc. I wouldn't call it gossip, but it has the same kind of negative impacts... when two camps talk about each other vs integrated, etc. Just like wars between forums, etc.. it only leads one direction.. down :)

Could you imagine if all of those real places (that the Disney versions were copied from) all sold the same exact generic Disney t-shirts and merchandise in all of their gift shops? lol

Not surprising but non-creative executives interjecting themselves into the creative decision-making process is never a good idea. WDAS has a pretty exciting and diverse slate of films coming up in Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Giants and Moana, Lasseter and Catmull are doing a good job at the studio and really don't need Iger interfering.

On a not-entirely unrelated note, did you ever hear anything about a potential sequel to Wreck-It Ralph? I know Rich Moore said publicly that one could happen and spoke about wanting to have Super Mario feature, I'm jut curious as to whether there was ever actually anything to the rumour.

There is something to the rumour, but whether it will ever happen is another story!

All the direct to DVD sequels were appalling! The only one that's worth watching is Cinderella 3 A Twist In Time...lol

I wouldn't say all, I'd say most. And the quality varied greatly. Some were decent and some were just so godawful ... Mulan 2 comes to mind since the original was so wonderful. They just ruined this strong character and made her an insecure, whining girl.

But I agree about Cindy 3, which I only saw because it was on one of the many movie channels on my transatlantic Disney MAGIC cruise. I couldn't believe that it was actually a good movie.

Bump! Let's discuss something that's actually relevant to theme parks and actually happening. Or do the Disney diehards feel threatened?;)

The floor is open. Let's discuss. While I am a huge fan of the original Kong ride at UNI, I'm not a fan of Peter Jackson's bloated CGI-fest remake film and I sincerely hope that this attraction is going to pay more than passing reference to the original.

I have heard whispers of a very big Monkey that likely won't be known as Disco Kong being included, which has my interest up!

Just love everything UNI is doing ... although have heard very mixed things about that new Meixcan restaurant that replaced Latin Quarter. So, maybe everything isn't perfect at UNI after all!

One question then: why in the world would you waste your time with it? I know LP.com died, but there are plenty of other interesting threads here, most that I am not even a part of ...
Because I can. Doesn't mean I gain anything from it. I do keep hoping though. And I do spend more time on threads other then Rumors, Guessed News and Gossip. I find it amusing when your fanbois start infighting to gain your love. Don't deny an old man his entertainment.:)

I heard Universal is adding restaurants all around the lagoon....yeah I can't even say that without laughing. Poor EPCOT off-Center.

I consider Merf the most level headed person on twitter. Read into that what you will.

Merf is highly intelligent and has some great perspective ... but he tends to blow up in psycho "I know it all'' rants, which is why he has been run off of every Disney site out there.

I also think he has way too much of a focus on EPCOT (and I am an EC fanboi through and through ... but you have to see beyond one park).

Maybe Elsa will go up against Heat-Miser in this one. :banghead:
Nope, an adult Jack Jack.

I agree with the heart of your message, but the idea that they aren't here is just total BS. The harder they claim they never read here, the more often they are here reading or have friends reporting to them ...

If you place words out to the world, then it doesn't matter whether you are here to defend them. They speak for themselves ... and nothing is preventing someone from doing just that (like Erica did). That is the adult way. The classy way.

Now, you or others may disagree ... but I think it's open season ... and most assuredly on folks who Tweet anonymously and/or Lifestylers who have blogs etc.

Enjoy all the entertainment you can get. If I educate or entertain ... or just excite ... then my work is done.

One tidbit of news that will get buried here, and I am used to and OK with that, is that folks wondering why Disney is building what amounts to a second parade route adjacent to MSUSA on this 'second street bypass' are ASSuming that the entire project is simply what has been announced and not a larger project that will spread out over years and possibly change the whole front of the MK.
