The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

What does this mean? I am guilty of blond moments and I'm not getting what Spirit is alluding to. Are y'all talking about the railroad in MK?

Yes, the (apparently very real) fear that the steam locomotives now pulling the trains will be replaced with (cheaper to operate and maintain) diesel locomotives disguised to look like steam engines.

The Lilly Belle is one of the current engines, presently still out for rebuilding.

This whole train thing is an outrage, rediculous
And still just a rumor. They have already been converted to diesel for fuel and some have been recently refurbished so I would take it all with a grain of salt. Unless of course a bus driver confirmed it.

I spent a week with MM+ and I had no issues with it. Not sure if it is because I'm a techie and like that stuff but I will say 2.5 b is fine as long as it doesn't impact bringing new experiences. If it does that is another story. I'm willing to wait another 6 months to see if the DHS redo gets greenlit or not. And I'm ok with Avatar if done well. I also welcome more seating in Casey's and I appreciate the wider and new pathways because I have (gasp) kids with strollers. Single not double.

Now that we are marching on to $2.5 billion, does anyone here want to take back any comments about how great NGE will be? How it will revolutionize the theme park business? How MM+ will be Disney's Potter 2.0 swatter? C'mon, there must be someone who wants to be contrary?

What I'm really curious about is just what Disney's top executives really think about NGE, and will admit privately among themselves. Does anyone there really still believe this thing is going to generate revenue increases even close to the levels claimed (or at all)? Costs continue to mount, and with Bob Iger unable and/or unwilling to answer even basic questions on the programs promised results, do the people within TDO realize what a boondoggle this is becoming? Just how much more money are they going to spend because they can't (publicly?) admit to a mistaken project?

What is more disturbing than even $2.5 billion would be a bunch of executives who continue to run the ship into the ground, rather than admit a mistake and change course. Publicly they may spin such silliness as people not having time for new attractions, but they have to know that while Disney has almost nothing new to offer in the next couple years, the competition up the street does. Can anyone - even Iger - really still think NGE is the answer? That would be most troubling.

At this point they have so much money invested in it that they HAVE to make it work somehow. Or so they think.

I don't think turning back now and going "well that sucked, we give up" is an option. We're stuck with this system.

Okay so the trains at MK are no longer steam? I hate to sound really ignorant about this and I am sure there is a very long and detailed thread on wdwmagic where I can get informed about the trains so someone give me a link please so I don't have to look the idiot completely..

Why is everyone in such an uproar over them converting the trains? It's not like they are getting rid of that attraction?!?

I'm not in an uproar, I just thought they were steam engines....but really I thought they were saying the railroad was getting removed and gee..it's one of my favorite things about MK

They are Steam but the boilers are diesel fueled instead of wood or coal.

They are still steam trains, the trains use diesel fuel that is aerosolized and ignited as a heat source to create the steam.
