So why complain then?
Because if your'e going to put so much time and effort into a post, why rehash the same thing in a different way over and over? I know it doesn't affect me, but @ParentsOf4 obviously is good at what he does and apparently likes doing it as a hobby too. I just feel like i'm ready the same thing every time.

To be clear: I'm complimenting him here in case it wasn't clear for those who just reply without reading.

Cause I'm sure he writes them just for you! I don't think the world will end if you decide not to read his posts, but, some of the rest of us do read and see the reality to them.
Not to mention people love to ignore these very nice detailed explanations about Iger when praising him nonstop (and claiming he is Disney Park's second Messiah) and blasting 24/7 on Eisner

I must be dumb, because I feel like I learn something new every time I read one of @ParentsOf4's posts. He breaks down a fan/emotional argument to a financial level. I'm a big fan of your work PO4!
And thus is the beauty of these Spirited threads. They may meander off topic but still are able to teach and learn. I find the threads help refine one's ability to present a written argument.

at least e this wasn't in Missouri…
I was referring to the original Beijing opener about 20 years ago. My brother's girlfriend was there and got a front row seat. Nothing like going to leave the hotel and a kind group of fully armed military at the door strongly "encouraging" you to stay put. All while hearing shots firing in the distance.

And being fair to myself, I said in my original post I expected to get hate. ;)

The ignore button is your friend. Then you don't have to see any of his posts.

I'm not going to try to tell you what you should or shouldn't read, but @ParentsOf4 generally is a pretty good writer who can explain complex financial things in a way that non-financial people can understand. It's pretty close to required reading here. Plus he has cool graphs:). He doesn't write in an inflammatory style and doesn't take personal shots at other people so there is not much to get upset over. It seems like maybe it's the content of his posts which bothers you and not his style. Unfortunately he is dealing in facts here, not opinions.

I doubt you will get much hate, but people will probably question your motives.

Your posts are great, but I can't help but feel like you are beating a dead horse on this whole "Iger doesn't spend" thing at this point.

If someone doesn't get it by now, they haven't been paying attention. And tbh, I don't have time to read your posts (which seem like they get longer every time) anymore. So I dont.

My point is, we get it. Beat a different drum. Give me something I actually care to read about if you are going to spend all that time writing those posts. Find some other numbers to tell me about.

I expect to get a ton of hate about this post, so bring it on I suppose.
Margin is the singularly most important metric. The macro argument cannot be distilled any further.

To focus on any other metric would just serve to get lost in the weeds.

Okay… What would you like to talk about today? I brought the protests in Hong Kong to the table… iMessage Steve about the Paul Bunyan lumberjack show… .... So I ask you, what would you like to bring to class today?

So what exactly is this lumberjack show? Another band that sings Hagar songs with emphasis on mental flagelation?

To add:

With an encore from the Divynls?

I think I am building a set list.

So how about that DreamWorks Animation/SoftBank rumor?

If I was running DWA I'd be thrilled. Animation is a perilous business to be in on your own, as evidenced by the financial roller coaster that DWA has experienced. They'd be much better off as part of a conglomerate where every single film doesn't make or break them - hopefully it would relieve the pressure on them.

If WDFA was an independent entity, it would have shuttered around 10 years ago. Animation is expensive and even Pixar has proven you can't knock them all out of the park. Hope it works out for them, as DWA has really upped their quality game with most of their recent projects (Turbo notwithstanding).

1. I love @ParentsOf4's posts. Numbers and statistics appeal to me on a deep and primal level that few things can touch.
2. While I'm over-sharing, every time someone mentions the new lumberjack show in the Canada pavilion I get an image in my mind of a scene from the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" where they have a outdoorsy dance-off and it's... horrible.
Funny this is what comes to my mind...

When I think of the lumberjack show with chainsaws I think of Paul Timberman's workshop from MADTV. Not sure if I can put one of the videos on here since it's kind of graphic. Really funny though.
