Back in 2008, my family and I saw a shuttle launch our last night at sea returning to JAXPORT from our cruise. Now that was an unforgettable experience!
I'm so sad I never got to experience a shuttle launch. I'm kind of a space nerd, and it was always a goal of mine to see one. I guess I never thought the opportunity wouldn't be there. Just another example of why you should never put things off...

I witnessed one from the parking lot at Denny's in Kissimmee, just east of I-4 on 192. Of course, all I saw was a bright orange streak in the sky, but, it was pretty cool none the less.:)

It gave me chills when I walked in there and saw it the first time. Truly awe-inspiring!
At KSC it's suspended over you like this:

One of the few things I can remember about my first WDW trip was being able to see a shuttle launch while on the plane heading to Orlando. Sadly I never got to witness one any closer than that.

(These aren't my photos.)

It's also suspended in Huntsville. Pretty awesome! We were there last August, and we happened upon a program where they show you artifacts from space travel for the last few decades. I touched Neil Armstrong's glove and squee'd like a little girl. My favorite was the make-up kids for the female astronauts. Their explanation was that they wanted to keep the astronauts on a routine so they provided the make-up kits so they would have a routine similar to what they have at home. I think they just want them to look nice for the camera...lol!

Chevrolet has signed a sponsorship deal for Shanghai. According to Disney and More, that deal will include sponsorship of an attraction in the park. However it is not clear if this is an attraction on the opening day menu @WDW1974 gave us or a rushed Phase 2 attraction.

https://thenewswheel.com/shanghai-disney-resort-shanghai-gm-ink-long-term-deal/

"As part of this partnership, Shanghai Disney Resort and Shanghai GM will be collaborating on a stand-alone attraction that will feature Chevrolet within Shanghai Disneyland. The Chevy brand will also be integrated into a pre-existing and iconic attraction at the park."

I interpret the above as definitely incorporated into TRON from opening day, with the scope of this new second standalone attraction being somewhat unknown.

Shanghai remains a really big question mark with all this talk of phase 2 being pushed forward, which Disney did insist was for extra attractions and not just because they were running behind schedule...

I get WHY they're investing in Shanghai. Lots of people. Huge emerging markets there & in India.

I just feel that between Shanghai & Hong Kong, they've neglected Orlando & resulted in the mess we're in today with upcharges, etc.
Disney owns less than half of those two ventures and only paid for the recent three land expansion because they under invested before opening.
