The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

So, so true.

WDI needs a backstory on a lifestyle (and Lifestyler) center because it justifies jobs for many individuals. Disney's STORY BS has become such a self-perpetuating, self-serving myth largely that only diehard fanbois and BRAND advocates pay attention.

I mean, what's the STORY behind place Princess Tangled's Tower and Toilets into Liberty Square (please, no answer is needed!)
What really bothers me about the big story "reveal" is that they did not reveal anything! They said they made a story, but they never actually got around to telling us the story.

Sure they did. There was a natural spring and settlers built stuff around it. The end. I don't know about you but that right there is a serious contender for the greatest story ever told.

MiceChat's shift has spun so far out of control that the place to find people calling the MiceAge Update a bunch of lies is the MiceChat Forums. You've got a problem when the House that Lutz built is now full of people who proudly proclaim that they only trust the DisneyParks Blog and that rumors shouldn't be a topic for discussion.

I didn't know that, but I barely have time for just a few topics here ... I haven't checked their boards out in years and I posted quite frequently there once upon a time. I know that the forums are not something they take that seriously anymore ... but, still, if the community is ripping the content, then something is off.

They've generally kept up Al's standards. I think they rushed some stuff when he first left (BTW, he had a nice B-Day celeb this past weekend at DL and I was happy that he can still get there and out and enjoy the place he loves so much!) ... Some of it wasn't wrong at the time, but it became that way ... and it just wasn't necessary.

I knew Toontown was the current plan for Star Wars since early spring. And I've only placed it out in public in early August. Sometimes, you really are best to sit on things (no fanboi/Imagineer jokes as tempting as they may be!) and see what happens.

I am pretty sure that was already known. I'm am curious to know how they are going to justify an elevated railroad in rural, empty, flat Florida.

The reaction to the latest update is no as bad as some of the others, but yes, it has become that bad. A good many are completely unaware of the site's origins and really do think it wrong for the site to be in the rumor game.

It's a typical WDI circle j ... they have a story about a story and they'll develop that story through the buildings and landscaping that carry that story on so then we'll all be entranced by how Disney found this community founded on the edge of springs that somehow (I'll say through lazy storytelling and lack of creativity and vision by both WDI and TDO) has been turned into a charming lakeside shopping and dining complex with a story that harkens back to Elias Disney's career as a mailman in Kissimmee (you think Walt did a lot before becoming an animator or at the same time? he had nothing on his old man ...) ... oh, and did I say there was going to be an amazing backstory to the entire place. ... Like the faux elevated railway line that isn't ... to the amazing new bridges. Hell, WDI even has a backstory in place for the garages ... you just wait and see and be amazed!

Yes, I think the Imagineers really do need to learn the definition of ABSTRACT NARRATIVE.

Wasn't Disney Springs designed primarily by an outside firm?

Too much time catching up on this thread, now I can't head to the others right now.

BTW, am sad to see that Disney has canceled the Festival of the Masters this year (but get why) ... I do wonder if they'll bring it back or use this as an excuse to kill it for good. It was always a locals event that goes back decades and that isn't what Bob Iger's Disney is all about.

if it all looks half as nice as the renderings i will be pleased...
I know there are a lot of crappy building projects out there slapped together, but building pretty buildings is not that difficult. There are plenty of nice malls and lifestyle centers.

I haven't been following this project at all because I'm not really that interested, but there's going to be an elevated railroad?
There will be no train. In the West Side they are building a shade structure that is supposed to be a repurposed elevated train like The High Line Park in New York. It is a contradiction of the worst, being inappropriate to both Florida and a small town.

I've read a Forbes article recently that had Disney interested in purchasing Formula 1. I can't see that happening but have you heard any rumblings @WDW1974 ? Would be great to watch formula 1 on espn but not many are going to get up at 6am et to watch a race in Europe/Asia. Though I do currently.

I don't know how you can say that - I know of at least one owner, and about 2,000 rowdy football fans that really wanted that stadium. But to the good side, at least Winter Park isn't going to build a new baseball stadium to house a minor league team so that the owner can breach his lease with Brevard County and move the team closer to home.

Pretty sure the residents of the church - The ones that got kicked out by eminent domain - were not in favor of it.
