Of NFL.. of which I find it appropriate. But that's an entirely different context vs company wide properties.
I meant more in the sense of how you said, "crowning jewel" is a way saying "this is the best we can achieve". I agree that with all the other the other options in NFL, mine train is the best, but far from what they can achieve, or maybe it is

Your tastes may differ with mine. That doesn't make mine terrible. Maybe you have poor taste? ... Being very close to the business, I realize that my tastes are not typical and I am not a bandwagon jumper (no, I don't like Mad Men ... and I find House of Cards to be laughable despite the talent involved ... and even something popular that I enjoy, like Walking Dead, is terribly uneven from episode to episode).

You don't love house of cards?! You don't love it like sharks love blood?! ;)

And the Marvel plan of folding every single thing they do together may be great for fanbois, but it will harm them with casual viewers.

I have to disagree with that line; my parents are far from fanbois, cousins, aunts, uncles, and my gf included amongst those do never gave two craps about hardly any superhero movies at any point are all in love with the current movies and show tie-ins. Heck, I was never a superhero fan and really didn't care about any of them down to refusing to see the pre-Av movies and leaving the room when someone put one in here.

The hook of so many on this I do thing is the anomaly of a lifetime, however.

Different note, Bora Bora or Panamanian cruise. We need a discussion soon!

Spirited Musings:

It looks like mid-August will bring the next item in the wave of upcharge events at WDW designed to make the NGE drag on the bottom line appear less. The next event will be at TPFKaTD-MGMS. More details soon.

Yet they lack the nads to make an actual upcharge that would be sold out without a doubt regularly through the Fall at DHS... An actual Haunt event! I guess the risk of little Sally Sue and Johnny Jo seeing someone with fake blood on their face is way too big of a risk, though.

BTW, are people really insane enough to spend $48 a PERSON ON BREAKFAST??!!? Apparently for SWWs they are. I don't get it and even though Tom Bricker's pics looked good, I think it is utter insanity.

For $48 it better come on a solid gold plate that you take home.

One thing about this cruise, my fifth with the Mouse, was quite unique in that the ship sailed with only about 270 children on board. Indeed, this was the most Disney fan oriented crowd that I have ever sailed with. Lots of pixie dust addicts, lots of Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members, lots of DLR (and some WDW) APers, lots of DVCers etc. ...I think I almost drive poor Jim from N.J. To jump overboard when I explained that TWDC was not Walt's little company any more and that Mickey might love him, but Bob Iger most assuredly does not. While I met some truly WONDERful people, I would honestly say that I'd prefer to cruise with a better mix of people.

I know the kid thing is an item we have discussed in the past but even with kids I did not find them to be that large of a deal. DCL does a great job at keeping the kids interested in certain and specific areas, and mostly those areas only. People who called me crazy for booking DCL in December because of kids could not have been more wrong. It by far had a much better balance of age groups and activities per age group than the RCL one.

You can go on a DCL cruise that doesn't stop at Castaway Cay and still have a great time.

Tell the lady the outstanding beach fare included island is not needed. She will give you an earful! (or not)

I am convinced that the best written hour of scripted programing on ABC right now is General Hospital. Really.

I dear OUaT has a directive with this Frozen integration crap that is inbound. OUaT has a GREAT formula to success with taking the characters you know and love and making them entirely different. Doing anything but that with the Tweedle Dee sisters will surely only give a temporary pad to the viewer count and wreak havoc afterwards.

How bout The Dome in less than a month? True quality summer TV!

That brings up a COMPLAINT I have with DCL. There are dozens of channels, advertising for DCL and DVC and AbD to Port Adventures to canned international versions of CNN, BBC, MSNBC and FOX (you can't forget your clientele) and countless movie channels -- some showing new films like Gravity, Lego Movie, Hunger Games and others showing Disney and Pixar films on a loop. My issue is you never know what is on and when. You wind up watching the same scenes of Alice in Wonderland or The Pixar Story (a great documentary) at the same spot and missing large chunks. They don,t even have a programming guide at Guest Services, so you have no idea when you're going to get something worthwhile like 101 Dalmatians vs. Something not, like The Lion King 2. Very frustrating.

The channel with crack addicted looking Fab five was only of interest for a tops of give minutes.

Speaking of pushy, went to one of what seemed like 321 DVC sales pitches while onboard. Anyone who says DVC doesn't use high pressure tactics to sell is extremely naive or lying. Pressuring people to place thousands of dollars on their credit cards while on a very pricey cruise to CREATE MEMORIES for their families is incredibly weak. So isn't the industry standard of ''this offer is only available now, not when we are back on land, not in a few weeks, but NOW!!!!'' DVC may not use boilerroom techniques, but they are pressure packed and manipulative just the same.

But free booze in some of them is well worth it!

Funny I noticed the opposite. Every time someone bumped into me At DLR they never looked at me or even acknowledged me. The cast were not very friendly when sparking conversations with them, even more so the guests. At WDW almost everytime I was shoulder checked we would both turn around instantly and say excuse me.

Maybe its the Florida sun but most CMs I have met and spoke with are campy and friendly. Now of course ive had run ins with a couple snott heads at WDW and DLR(both cm and guest). But i found that WDW CMs and guest are more friendly(excluding the stroller crowds and meltdowns, naturally) than their DLR counterparts.
That's been my experience, too.

I love Lord of the Rings, but am I the only one who doesn't see either Disney or Universal doing it justice? I'm sure I am but it being added to a theme park just doesn't thrill me like I know it should. I don't know why. If that's even what the news would be. But who knows? What else would really get the 'community crazy'? I'm not able to think of anything off the top of my head other than LOTR.

I dont think LOTR really lends itself to a theme park, a lot of it is set in really thick woodland, or on huge plains, neither of which are great environments to build rides, restaurants and shops in.

Plus no obvious attractions are coming to mind except maybe a river ride

Because CGI Avatar is easier to build in a theme park than a fantasy realm based in real world constructive techniques? Ok.
