Hi Tom - I was the one who originally mentioned going to Yosemite. We're planning to go next fall for probably a week. I'm just in the planning stages of it now, and I'm having a blast just checking out the possibilities.Camping is a possibility, but at this point we're weighing all our options. PBS did a whole series about the National Park lodges, and the Ahwahnee looked really awesome, but it's way over our budget right now. I'll probably have a ton of questions for you soon if you don't mind.

If I weren't going to stay at The Ahwahnee, I'd probably camp. I was not impressed with Yosemite Lodge at the Falls, outside of the location, which is amazing. It's very motel-ish. Make sure to visit The Ahwahnee regardless, it's gorgeous and you'll see a lot of the inspiration for Wilderness Lodge there.

Of the National Parks I've visited thus far (about half), Yosemite is my absolute favorite. Everything about it is breathtaking, and it seems like every landmark there has a very distinct look (El Cap, Three Brothers, Half Dome, etc.). I cannot imagine anyone not having an amazing time there!

Thanks. I went there many many years ago and I do remember how stunningly beautiful it is. My husband has never been, but he's very exited about it too. We definitely plan to check out Ahwanhee anyway - it just looks so amazing. The PBS show we watched also mentioned a special (and quite pricey) presentation/dinner that they do for Christmas that was just awesome, but I know we'll never get to see that.

Here's a link about it:

Sorry about veering off course here '74...

C'mon, that's not fair and you know it. That 'tude simply says the world is a very messed up place, so no one should ever focus on any one part of it.

That's not an argument. I have gay fanboi pals (shocking right?!) and I can guarantee you they'll go and see the new Star Wars film no matter what. Folks are very good at compartmentalizing and generalizing when it gets them what they want at a given time.

And I am not saying people should boycott the film. But fans should let Disney know they don't agree with filming in the UAE, so they don't get to use Disney as a tacit sign of approval for their regimes.

I agree with everything you said. My father is gay.

I also said I'm not ready to start judging fanboys yet, because it's not on their radar. I guarantee it. Their concern is the quality of the product, and like my example about the typewriter, it's something that fans just aren't talking about. It's not hypocrisy, it's ignorance.

I can say most are hypocritical about clothes, food, etc. . . I am too. But people can't be called out as hypocritical if they don't know about it. Now I know about it.

I am extremely interested in taking action, but I am still digesting this. I hope you are serious about it too. You've got the ear of powerful people that I don't, and your voice carries further.

Predictions for Guardians of the Galaxy have it now opening at $65-70 million domestically and potentially garnering over $600M worldwide for its run. Would be pretty massive is Marvel can pull that off for such a (previously) little known property.
the marvel brand is strong right now

Can someone post the "Dreamworks face" meme? I'm on my phone.

Disney princesses have had similar facial styling for decades upon decades. Notable exceptions are those of different ethnicities.
Dreamworks as the "face pose" meme (aka most of the main characters making the same expression in the posters) this is not a "design" issue as disney latest.

heres some examples: http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/DreamworksFace3_8392.jpg

funnily, the posterface was finally changed since "Mr. Peabody and Sherman"

Saw a preview of GotG tonight, it's a movie worth seeing even if like most Marvel movies the climax drags on longer than it should. No twitter fanbois, but Drax was there. :)
Did ur screening have the end credit scene? I've heard all the advanced screening did not have the post credit scene due to spoilers?

I honestly think worldwide might be a bit weaker.. the chars aren't that well known.

definitively going to see it as soon its out in my local cinema! sounds awesome!

also, interestingly.. theres tv ads and memoralia everywhere about TMNT in the local cinemas.. and very little about the GOTG (just cardboard cuts)

Speaking of Marvel/Disney rumblings, Marvel attractions for DSP are apparently off the table again.

The reasoning, such as it is? That Euro Disney SCA wants a third gate devoted to the IP, something that has been pushed for by Gas and the DLP management team since Disney purchased Marvel.

Very interesting and this is contradicting other WDS Marvel rumors, like turning the Backlot into Marvel land with retheming of all the attractions there to Marvel. I wonder what they would do with the Backlot then, since it's the ugliest part of the WDS.

@WDW1974 do u know why WDW seems to be trying to revert back to A bogus version of Legacy FP with the te A and E meet n greet and now Soarin???
I believe WDW is experimenting with these changes because they are listening to guest feedback and are trying to take steps to improve the situation.

Stating the obvious, when something new is tried, X number of people will like it and Y number of people won't.

It's possible to survey and postulate to the nth degree, but you can't really know whether X or Y will be larger until you just try it.

I commend WDW for trying to make things better for the greatest number of guests. :)

(Even if they do so only when it involves minimal cost. :D)

I'm reading on other websites that are DVC heavy, that the Return Cards are backfiring in a big way, as is FP+ planning. I find that surprising, as these sites I read are very pro Disney/Pixie Dust. Perhaps a blip on the radar? I'm looking forward to see how the comments settle out.

I know the barest minimum of details about what's going on with it. And I also hate to see my babies grow up into the inevitable WDW v. Universal debate you just know this will turn into (seriously, if I do it, over/under 5 posts before Gringotts is brought up?).

Shockingly we actually made it to Page 2--and it was the Disney lifestylers, not the Uni fanbois!

But yeah, now all discussion has been shut down to a shouting match of "y u hate Disney???".

I think it felt like it Dragged on because of the exposition, granted this goes with explaining exactly who these guys are and why we should care.
