The premise of Alita: Battle Angel alone is intriguing:

In the distant future, a female adolescent cyborg, who was found stranded and left to die on a garbage dump of an isolated world, is saved and adopted by a family from Earth and saves Earth from annihilation by aliens...

You might want to do a little more research on Battle Angel, you're incredibilly wrong with your synopsis.

You're assuming they GET their phones on international places.
Some phones are locked.. believe it or not.. prepaid phones from some companies in Mexico do not work in the US.. they demand you PAY extra money to make it work in the US.

so having the phone in the US could be considered dumb..as the phone would be a literal brick.

I'm not assuming anything. I was asking a question because I was curious.

couldn't the film/preview itself be considered an attraction? I am sure any lawyer could argue that.

Sorry but, LOL...wouldn't that mean that any theater east of the Mississippi would not be able to even show the film in a theater? I have read lots of talk about the contract and I have never once heard or seen in writing specific marvel properties exempt from the contract...can u???

As far as I know, no Marvel characters at all are allowed in WDW! I don't think Gaurdians would be allowed. I have no idea about Big Hero 6 though, since it seems that Disney isn't connecting it to Marvel in any way shape or form??? There is no Marvel tag on any trailer...
The only characters Universal has the rights to are the ones they are currently using. I am shocked that the uni fans haven't responded to your post yet because they are all so fast when a Disney fan gets it wrong.

So is muppets 3d not considered an attraction? How about philarmagic? All of these experiences are just films that with today's technology can be experienced in any movie theater really minus some special effects. So this begs the question where is the line drawn, and if the monorail with iron man+the avengers couldn't even enter epcot what makes you think somehow showing a film makes them exempt?

To my understanding (for what that's worth), only Marvel characters currently in the Uni parks and those in their immediate sphere (universe? family?) are off-limits. So if a property is completely independent of the likes of Spidey, Avengers, X-men, etc. it is fair game. It gets a little complicated with cross-overs, but that's the gist. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, because I'd love a better understanding!
Edit: That's kind of why I thought/hoped Disney was introducing some of these lesser known properties, to be honest...

If they did an indoor x-wing spinner or even x-wing/TIE spinner that made it seem like you were in space and maybe even shooting things that could work. It would be different enough but still be a spinner that all ages could enjoy.

That's a really cool idea -- make it like Buzz where you're flying an XWing in a round room while a tie fighter is projected on the wall where your energy beam is pointing. It's fairly simple from the computing standpoint -- the ride vehicle has to be at a certain altitude to be scored a hit.

The logic here is if Guardians of the Galaxy is showing up in any capacity (film, preview etc) over at hollywood studios somehow they are not in breach of the contract that universal has. At least that's my limited understanding of it. Because captain america 2 didn't recieve the same preview treatment.

There was the Avengerrail.

Speaking of which, members of the Guardians have been members of the Avengers as well. Just about any Marvel character you can imagine is covered by that pesky "family" clause in the contract.

GoG may be obscure enough to be allowed. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if Universal owned the theme park rights to them too.

No, showing the movie in a theater isn't a problem because the exclusivity only applies to theme park use. Yes, Uni only has the rights to characters they currently use and characters in the same "family", so this covers pretty much every major Marvel character, but there are still some that won't be covered.

Here's a question:

What do people think the point of My Disney Experience/My Magic Plus is?

...

So who's right here? Are DME and FP+ the end or just a means to an end?

It's been obvious to me all along that DME & FP+ were the public lipstick on what should've been a very private pig, but I'm involved with a lot of the enabling technologies. I've said before on these threads that by far the biggest problem with NGE was that the public is aware of it. Every one of the 10000 largest corporations in the world is mining data just about as hard as they can (every. single. one.), and really only one thought that they could polish it up enough to sell the idea to the public.

There was a catch with the Avengerrail. It was only allowed for the Magic Kingdom, not Epcot.
