If Jimmy is Jason, and Jason is now working for Uni, why is be being all pro WDW? Something doesnt connect here.

There's no evidence that suggests:

1 - Jason Surrell is Jimmy Thicke. (Nothing to tie him to it)
2 - Jason Surrell is employed by Universal. (Just a random tweet)

So before we start analysing, lets examine the basic facts first.

Not to mention arms that fall off. We have a lot of armless "Mickey guys" (my kids' name for vinylmation figures) around the house.

I have always thought they were rather poorly made.

To be fair vinylmation is more of a collectable "display only" type item. But I know that with kids that doesn't always fly. I think there is a good weight and sturdiness to them (arms aside).

For the most part we are the same way... But ltely have replaced DAK with US, and our 5th day is IOA.

Point is, you did not say you would NEVER STEP FOOT IN A UNI PARK out of pure hate for the brand. Your kids are squarely in the Disney demo, like mine - that is what they want.

Nothing for us this year unless we decide to go to Sea World in San Antonio. Next year is a cruise the week before Christmas. Hopefully in 2016 we make it to DLR before the boys gets too old for Cars. Maybe in 2017 we make it WDW.

We will go to what makes the kids happy, and I just don't think Universal fits that bill for us. No hate from me, just not their demographic. :)

Where are you finding vinylmation of pretty high standard? Because every single one I've ever seen has paint blotches, smears, misplaced, or they appear dirty despite being unopened in its box. If that's what a "high standard" is I'd hate to see the low standard.

There have been plenty of vinylmation figures that I wanted to buy until I looked at them and realized that Kermit's eye is smeared, or that cute pink my little pony has a dirty tummy, or the Minnie has blotch paint on her pink dress. Every wile one ended up back on the shelf.

But hey, if quality doesn't matter and you're cool with blowing $8-15 each on them, by all means.

That's gonna happen. You'll find bad batches on anything anywhere you buy everything. For the most part the quality I've seen is pretty high.

My bad. Apparently I've struck a chord with this topic. Uni rocks Disney sucks yada yada yada.

I agree about paying for cable and satellite. So I don't anymore and I really don't miss it at all (I have an antenna, and I'm fine with local channels as well as the digital classic television channels offered). I can watch shows for free on a lot of websites, and I can even watch streaming cable channels online for free. I'm slightly annoyed I pay for Hulu and have to endure so many ads. They used to not have so many. It's not awful to sit through but it's obvious how many more ads they show, and I thought the whole point of paying was for less ads than played if you just use the free service.

No kidding. Carriage cost per customer is now over $6.00 per subscriber of TV/SAT from ESPN and with the upcoming new contract with the NBA there will be someone (ummmm... the customer) absorbing what will be a much higher contract that's being paid out to the league from their partners ESPN and Turner.

We've had this talk many times on here, but sports is what drives the horrible cost of paid television in the U.S. A la carte is the answer, but it'll never happen thanks to giant corporations completely having changed the business model over the past two decades. Cable channels were built on the model of advertisers accounting for the majority of revenue and the carriage being a secondary revenue channel. It's all changed and has been flipped. What's mind boggling to many outside of this country is the notion that we PAY for these channels yet still have to endure endless advertisements. You can see the cabal of broadcasting corps that own Hulu (including Comcast and Disney) as they seem to believe that even though you are paying for content, you're supposed to watch ads as well. It's such a slimy industry and I'm glad I left it some time ago.
The solution is 5G cell service. when that finally happens we can all get rid of the tripple play packages from either the Cable company or Telephone company. 5G cell service will provide faster internet service and video from the internet. Then we can stop paying Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner and Cablevision. I think this is something we can all agree on the cable companies and cable channels collect too much from all of us. Drop Cable and hurt both companies but help the consumers. Both Comcast and Disney charge the public too much for TV.

And you really think the cell phone services wont give the same limitations or worse payment plans?

They're not the same person. Each had a different reason for their sudden, yet deserved, "departure."

what kind of antenna you using?

thinking of cutting the cord meself

It's so worth it to me. I think I'll need to get a bigger one (I only can't pick up WESH, the local Orlando NBC station but I really don't watch NBC so it's not a big deal at all), because I can only have it in my attic and am in the fringe zones of the Orlando and West Palm channels but for a supposed range of only 40 miles, this antenna does a great job: http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Suburban-Mini-Yagi-Digital-Outdoor-Antenna-with-Mast/10828410 (and I'm pretty sure the range would be better if I was allowed to place it outdoors, it's small enough so I really like it).

Just make sure you have decent RG-6 cables (I also use an amplifer, which I really don't know that helps, but it was given to me so I use, but if you live close enough you won't need one).

Also check antennaweb.org and see what channels you can pick up and it helps you figure out the antenna needed. If you live close enough you can pick up channels just fine with rabbit ears. If you need any help, I'm no expert by any means, just lots of research, PM me. Make sure you check the range on the antenna as well. The one I linked to has a range of up to 40 miles away, but I am picking up channels a good 60 miles away. Don't fall for the antennas that say "120 mile range". It's not accurate at all.

Sorry for taking this off-topic! Back on topic .....

I thought I would miss mine but it turns out I don't at all. I was surprised. I loved my TiVo and my DirecTV DVR. I really don't miss it at all. But you can use a TiVo with over-the-air antenna's. I think they limit it to only one or two styles of TiVo but it's possible. I just haven't wanted to spend the money on one. I need to build one as well.

I also think it helps that I know I can go online and find a show if I miss it live. I'd have so many shows recorded anyway that I never got around to watching, LOL

I have 2 triple play packages. One in NYC and the other in NJ. At Florida condo I use an antena. I would like to get rid of the cable packages. However, I need them for now because I am a news junkie and love my CNBC. See I dont hate Comcast. I do dislike paying so much for ESPN, YES, SNY and the other sports channels which just rip off all the customers so the athletes and teams can make too much money. But that is rant to another board. As for my internet service I do find I am using my cell phone for internet more than my computers at home.

The difference between Disney's smarmy fakeness of creating 'memories' versus UNI's just delivering them was just showcased to the world on The Tonight Show in a segment where Jimmy and guest Kevin Hart rode the one coaster at UNI that I have even stayed off of.

Genuine emotion. Nothing faked. This isn't Stacy Aswad faking emotion on resort TV.

I hope UNI uses that segment in the future. Classic TV.

I'm enjoying the Jimmy Fallon coverage of Universal. What were your thoughts on the wand sketch where it was all one big dick joke? My first thought was,... I wonder if JKR would approve of this, and I figured there would be something in the contract about that!
