The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

This is one of the reasons why I love the "Kings" parks. Though their entryways and malls are slightly different, I actually love the fact that they diverted from using the typical Magic Kingdom style entrance with a street heading toward the castle, and instead went with a mall. I really enjoyed having lunch last weekend under shady trees next to the fountains along the main mall at Kings Island.

And as you can see @WDW1974 both Kings Island and Kings Dominion are full of #hubtrees!

BUT LETS TALK ABOUT THAT CONCRETE VIEWING SPACE TO SEE THE LOW PYRO FOR WISHES!

And to just take this WAY off topic....this is why we love....dare I say it....Dollywood!!! Gasp!!
It's beautiful, clean, friendly and they spend a few million on a new "big" ride almost every year. Yes, obviously smaller than Disney but they are doing something right. They are Building a resort, they have a GREAT water park and are not growing stagnant.
And yes, I ADORE WDW!! :)

I believe Taft was the name of the company that built King's Dominion. They also made Canada's Wonderland, which has its own "International Street" at the front, and even the same trash can logo:

Unlike Taft's other parks, the Eiffel Tower was replaced with a mountain to look more Canadian, and behold - more trees! Like a theme park should.

When Paramount took over in the 90s they killed much of the theming to make way for the big flat rides and coasters they thought would bring in the crowds. Since Cedar Fair took ownership the park has been making better rides, while investing in entertainment, the annual Haunt event and keeping the place clean. It's not the top tier amusement experience early press material suggest:

but it still has some nice buildings here and there from the original 1981 design:

When season passes can be bought for as low as $60 CDN, it's a great value experience. Only problem is dealing with the crowds of North America's most visited seasonal amusment park (some years, even more people than open-year-round Knotts!). It's what happens when you have little to no direct competition and 6 million people live within a half-hour drive!

So, we are arguing about people who have no business running in serious races, running at Disney events again? Some people will never get the point, even if you hit them over the head with 75 pounds of fat that was lipo'd out of someone who needed to lose a few pounds!
That is perhaps the most non-commital paragraph I have ever seen you post. Not only does it qualify you as a politician, but the wording is acceptance for people on both sides of the argument. I'm in awe!

It's interesting that studios have made May-June 2016 so jam packed, when really any release date nowadays can net a high grossing film.

May 6th, 2016 - Captain America 3 and Batman v. Superman
May 27th, 2016 - X-Men: Apocalypse and Alice in Wonderland 2
June 10th, 2016 - The Amazing Spider-Man 3
June 17th, 2016 - Finding Dory and How to Train Your Dragon 3

Seems like they are doing themselves a disservice by opening up so close together. Perhaps an attempt to bring the Summer Movie Season back?

Note: I expect (hope?) that studios will eventually move some of these release dates. Especially May 6th. I just can't see Warner Bros risking their biggest comic-book film to date.
What I find interesting and why I tend to think summer movie season will lead to a year-round tentpole calendar is how the exhibitors feel about this. For the past couple CinemaCons, the expo where the studios formally show their slates to exhibitors, multiple theater chain execs have pressured the studios to move their tent poles to a year-round schedule because these films compete against each other for screens, in turn theater goers, and that has created peaks and valleys in theatrical attendance (while they ignore requests from folks like Christopher Nolan to more regularly screen older films). Their argument is that when the tent poles are more equally spread through the calendar, the films will have less competition not only during their opening week, but during the crucial following weeks where exhibitor often have to throw these summer tentpoles out of theaters after 3-4 weeks to keep up with the newest releases which hurts grosses. The best example of how spreading tentpoles helps would be 'The Lego Movie' which served as counter programming to the norm for February, generally limited attendance save for Oscar nominated films typically targeted at adults.

I know lots of folks think 2015 will be the biggest year for movies, inflation adjustion be damned, but it seems it could be the year where 5-10 tentpoles go down spectactularly. How these tentpoles perform in 2015 will have an impact on studio scheduling for years to come.

Story was planted. Nikki is trying to remain relevant while in litigation with her old site and its owners. UGLY stuff.

Not saying that it won't come down to them, but I know some on the BoD want fresh blood ... and I don't mean dreamy Tom!

Iger wasn't plucked from obscurity either. He was the heir apparent to Cap Cities, which was a huge acquisition. He was in charge of ABC and then was COO, I think he was pretty known. Correct me if I'm wrong though but it just seems to be a misstatement.

Anybody looking to compete seriously should compete in serious marathons. Disneys is meant to be fun. Yes, its accepted as qualifiers for Boston but even you have stated that the first mile of the race can dramatically skew your times due to all the people.

Try looking at any big race... they are all like this.. it's part of the run. It often takes MILES for the pack to thin out. But that's why runners want to minimize this, not say 'well she tried!' as they get tripped or turn an ankle dodging people at mile 7, 8, 12, 15, 20, etc. When people are in the right corrals, it thins out as the faster ones pull away and some slow down. When the corrals are not regulated well, you have faster people running into slower people all the time.. or worse.. people trying to run around walkers.

I would like to know who was the moron at TDO who scheduled TTA refurb during the frickin summer. Yes, lets close down our relaxing high capacity ride that keeps people occupied during the busiest time of year. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to refurb schedules anymore.
PeopleMover was exactly what me and my friends were planning to do after lunch at MK.. saw it closed. Did Laugh Floor instead. Tomorrowland definitely is the king of low wait attractions (4 of them with 10 minutes waits every day of the year)

Universal does better with screens than AAs. I'm hoping Kong has sets too, but I'm not counting on it. Really Disney relies too much on outdated AAs. Screens can do certain things a stationary figure simply can't.

Spirited Friday Musings:

... but let's talk about Erin Glover (I need a nickname for her) and her post about the subs returning at the start of the new fiscal year. Gee, those Miceage dudes were right, after all.

BTW, Star Wars plans for DLR have taken a rather interesting turn and involve existing attractions, but not the ones originally thought. And, no, you won't get a word more out of me until things move further along.

So we are getting the Gungan sub ride. Thru de planet core!

Sorry for the spoiler, Dave.
