Excerpt of the article regarding Mater's...

"A copy of the ride, re-themed to Woody from Toy Story, will be one of three small rides being added to a new Toy Story Playland area, to be built where much of the shuttered Backlot Tram Tour currently is at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The plans to directly clone Cars Land for WDW may have died at the hands of Orlando’s accountants, but at least one of the three Cars Land rides will make the trip to Florida, albeit with a different character and theme."

So is this suggesting that Mater's will be rethemed to Woody? And the actual Mater attraction isn't coming?

I'm confused because the last line suggests that at least 1 of 3 Cars Land rides are coming to Florida. Luigi's (I would assume) is out. RSR probably isn't coming; if it does it be different, correct? And Mater's seems to be getting rethemed to a Woody ride, so is Florida getting just the Woody version or both Woody and the Cars verison with a different character playing the role of Mater?

If both come, well that's just repetitive. If only Woody comes, well, I'm really having my doubts about this Pixar "expansion."
We are getting some sort of Cars attraction from all accounts, and most likely Flo's V8 Cafe as well from what i've gathered. The ride may not be RSR, but it will be a Cars ride. So it would be more like a small Cars area than an actual land.

Also, if that rumor is true about a Maters retheme for TSPL, that's actually really good news. Not only is it a ride accessible to all ages, but the ride is actually really fun. It's sort of a Tea Cup-style ride, but much more fun.

Networks seem afraid to cancel shows this season, which actually is a good thing ... unlike say ... Agents of ****. (I'm sorry, I just can't help but laugh at Marvel fanbois ... where were they a decade ago?)

Did anyone else see John Mulaney on @Midnight last night? When he lost he said, "I don't think you'll be the first to cancel Mulaney this fall."

Al Lutz and his Miceage boys have a new update up this morning. You should go read it @WDW1974 , as it plays directly into what you have been saying here for weeks. Some of Cars Land is going to be cloned for DHS... http://micechat.com/85860-miceage-update-bridge-to-nowhere/

The rest of the new Miceage Update is the usual dishy goodness that is aimed almost exclusively at Disneyland and West Coasters. But once every three or four months the Miceage team remembers that there is a Disney theme park also in Florida and mentions it in passing. This is one of those updates.
I figured there was a very good chance that the Flying Tires redux was coming to DHS.

And, yes, no Na'vi.
Speaking of, went to Menards last night. Only clearance'd out masks left were Jake Sulley masks and it looked like the same number of masks they had weeks before Halloween. And I'm pretty sure I saw those masks last year as well, so I'm guessing they'll just go back in storage for next year or something so they can get the Christmas stuff all up.

I was shocked at how many people actually believed the lights were from Ozzy and Sharon and not Jennings Osborne.

I've never been to WDW at christmas and so have never paid interest in the Osborne lights. I just presumed they were do to with Ozzy and Sharon. Never heard of a "Jennings Osborne"

I make myself look very thick on here

Spirited Monday Musings:

Fires like last night's little adventure on Mine Train Mountain wouldn't be happening IF WDW did what DLR and TDR regularly do: namely cancel pyro shows in windy and poor conditions.

Please, don't give them those ideas :). We were at DLR for an entire week, when I got the photo taken in my avatar, and not once did we get to see fireworks because of the weather at MK.

They have a chance to make DHS a fantastic park again, this is the time and opportunity to do it, and are somehow going to allow the accountants decide on bringing this park back up to ordinary or allowing it to be extraordinary. How I wish Lasseter was able to make the final decisions on the content and designs of DHS moving forward.

He had been looking forward to working there for half his life, but soon after starting, the young animator's elation began to fade. “The people who were creatively in charge were second-tier animators, in charge through attrition, not talent,” he says. Indeed, they were openly hostile to it. “You want to get ahead in this company?” someone said to him. “You sit and you do in-betweens”—grunt work, filling in the gaps of other animators' creations—“for 20 years, and then you can get ahead.” Lasseter immediately lost interest in the project he was working on and the studio he'd aspired to work for since he was a kid.
I wonder if John has realized that has happened at WDI as well?

BS! even though some of your statement is factually incorrect ( which I wont even address ) its because of decades of ignoring these things that it has come to this point. Its possible to do all these things you mentioned if the company truly had the desire. Expensive? No doubt. Its always more expensive when you let things go till the last minute.

When you make a list of exactly what they are doing as far as rides and attractions are concerned....what are they doing? Avatar?......see you in four years. DHS? Nothing to see but closings. I don't care what they say they are "going" to do. Don't expect this park to be completely reimagined for many years. The hub? Exactly why are they doing this again? FLE?...... How long did that take?

I said it a many times here. I wouldn't care if they didn't build another ride/attraction for years if they would take all that money and put it back in to the little things that to make the "Disney difference" Park ambiance, dining menu, equity actors....I am going to so miss Fife and Drum! maintenance, cleanliness. True guest service. They cut all these things and the only thing I here around these parts is give us more rides....a insatiable appetite that never gets satisfied. I honestly never understood that line of thinking. How long does a ride last? 3 minutes? But your stay at the resort last for days. In between those three minute rides that what I would like to see improved.
I think you're making it sound way worse than it actually is. In my opinion the parks are very clean, i've been going since the 80's and don't think that the cleanliness is any worse. I noticed a big slide in service and employee attitude the late 90s-early 2000s but it has gotten better since then, and the selection/quality of food since then as well has been much improved as well.

It's a shame that so many people on these boards are convinced that Disney quality is terrible nowadays, I think a lot of it has to do with people having such easy access to being able to complain together online. Also the price hikes have exacerbated it as well (but the reality is attendance has grown so there is no way the prices are going to go down).
Have you ever been to Six Flags Magic Mountain? Now THAT is declining quality. As a Socal resident I have had to sit around and watch that once really nice park be mismanaged into complete despair (although it started happening like 15 years ago, it never recovered). WDW made a few deep cuts during the height of the recession such as less frequent bus service when gas was $4/gallon and Fantasmic showing only a few nights a week, but that seems to no longer be an issue and I think visiting the parks now is more enjoyable than back then.

You're entitled to your opinion of course but to me the big problem is still all of the old/outdated attractions that need to be replaced (which looks like its being done with many of the rides I had gripes with: now if we could get Universe of Energy, Imagination/EO, and Stitch's Great Escape done next i'd be one happy camper :) )

This is how I feel (mostly). I do feel all parks need help in one way or another, but there's a difference like @spacemt354 has said here...

DAK simply is in need of more rides, same with MK (because of capacity reasons). EPCOT and DHS have identity issues and Epcot also has a decent amount of pavilions that need help, but there's no denying that DHS is most in need of help at this point.
DAK and DHS seemed to depend more on shows than rides. (DHS with musicals and hollywood stunts/tours, AK with animal stuff and musicals too)
