This may be a little off-topic but, @WDW1974, what are your thoughts on the health of frontline CMs? I swear there's an enormous amount of very obese CMs, I would think if you are walking around on your feet all day you would stay in relatively decent shape, what's being served in the cafeteria?
.

I can answer that. Healthy options are heavily pushed in the cafeterias, with rewards like buy 9 healthy options, get one free. Of course that does not preclude anyone from ordering a double bacon cheeseburger with fries.
Calories for meals are posted as well, with today's "mindful" options always being pushed.

Cheaper foods tend to be less healthy. Even if the cafeterias were models of healthy eating, the choices outside work are not so great. Lower cost housing is also often located in food deserts, further increasing costs.

If I ran my household like so many companies operate, I could stop paying all my bills, claim my most profitable months in years with the saved money, then when threatened with eviction or utilities being turned off, pay only what's required whilst still not paying any maintenance or upgrades. I wonder how long that would last? :banghead:
Many people did just this and stayed in their homes for years. It's called "managed default". Then finally upon eviction, saved money was used to finance a more reasonable home.

Many are on very low incomes, and in America a low income goes hand-in-hand with obesity, so it's not surprising many are on the large side - especially if you're working 12 hours a day and irregular hours, so cooking proper meals is often quite difficult.

I know if cast members are eligible for certain medical benefits they include cash rewards for healthier living (lower BMI, blood pressure, and cholesterol) as well as programs to help employees reach goals.

They do offer a few groceries at Company D (the employee store) now. Milk, eggs, and veggie veggie fruit fruit for decent prices compared to other grocery stores.

This is true. There are also health coaches available that will help with whatever you need.

Also, regarding the original quote "enormous amounts of very obese people" Exaggerate much?

Some Spirited Quick Hits:

You want something unique? Big Hero 6 opens today. You want something unique from Pixar? They have three films in the pipeline that aren't sequels.

Back to capitalism because I just find it so amazing, so scary and so American for ants (and that is what we are) who feel the need to stand up for corporations and their right to make as much as possible at any cost and to treat workers in any way to get there. Yes, that is one sign of a former great society that doesn't have much left in the tank. Apparently, no lessons were learned in 2008 except the economic collapse was caused by those former neighbors that you hated buying a home for $569,000 when they could only afford a $210,000 home and then having them run up $75,000 in credit card debt that they defaulted on.

Responsibility is a two way street to my 'friends' and, yes, I use that term lightly, on the right. If individuals need to show it and live by it in your view of the perfect America, then so also do corporations. $9 an hour and providing no benefits (free theme park admission and 60% off $400 a night hotels don't count) isn't doing so.

Now ... I must run ... I just heard that Black Friday was starting today because why even wait until 6 a.m. on (blanking) Thanksgiving Day to mindlessly spend.

I hit "like" so fast I nearly broke my screen.

That's easy. Carbs are cheaper than healthy food.

And if the CM s are anything like me (having crohns disease, colon cancer and ibs all running in my family bloodline- my mom the sufferer of two of these) fruits and veggies on a 30 minute lunch break are going to result in several trips to the Tangled Toilets after their break time is over and I'm sure managers frown upon that.

And again, crap food is cheap. I've gained nearly twenty pounds since being unemployed because I'm trying to stretch my dollar as far as it'll go. Now I'm taking it to a new level and simply skipping breakfast and lunch and drinking lots of water (and coffee) and without hesitation I'm positive that CMs also do that. I used to survive solely on good meats, fresh fruits and veggies, fancy grains and have now switched to mostly flash frozen veggies, I won't touch canned fruit, and a five lb bag of white rice costs $2.50, versus the $5 a lb red quinoa I love dearly. I'd kill a man for fresh pears and oranges this holiday season and I wish I were joking about that. I Can't imagine what poor CMs think when they see the gluttonous waste going on in the MK. Also, the prices people will pay...unreal.

Being poor, working for little pay, really isn't a joke. I was raised with "any job is a respectable job" but have quickly learned that the lowest paying jobs are the most respectable...because you work your off. The frontline CMs most definitely do.

Rolling this ball back to obese CMs... Our society is a lot different today than it was in Walts days. Cheap food, technology (which keeps you distracted instead of physically engaged in activity) and stress can and will keep you fat. Especially is you're stressing out about not affording groceries because you only make $9 an hour.

I'd like to bump that $9 an hour up to include wages all the way to $14 an hour, but I digress. We shouldn't get into that here.

Live broadcast of castle lighting via disney parks blog. Advertised on Facebook...

Sound is totally off, seems better now, but the actors started talking before they were on stage. Olaf exiting top castle balcony voice way before actor did.... What a mess. Confirmed with three devices in my house, but hoping it didn't happen for everyone because, how embarrassing.

Again, guests only see a fraction of the employees at the Walt Disney World resort.

You've been very lucky to have good managers and be in a good backstage role.

This is available to everyone , not just backstage desk dwellers. Disney, as any other company, has a vested interest in lowering medical costs.
I think you need to drink some happy juice or something.

People can choose to be any weight they want to be. Yeah it's totally unhealthy but it's on them. I'm not sure I understand this fascination with the size of people who work or go to WDW. Who cares if they are plus 1000? I know that sounds mean but really.

And on that note, it's hardly an exaggeration. Obesity is a problem in this country. It's not just someone's opinion. You seem to want to 'correct' everyone and sure do defend the brand a lot. It doesn't need the defense.
