The Spirited Back Nine ...

Election night pizza is the best pizza. Us sports folks are always up for a free meal.

Man, our "election night pizza" stopped being pizza years ago. For the last 3 or so years, we've had a BBQ place bring in the spread. This year, Qdoba set up a burrito and nacho bar. I questioned the logic of giving Mexican food to a whole bunch of tv folks in a confined space...

That's an internet myth, there is no trademark on the look of the Chinese Theater as it was built before you could trademark buildings, so no need for a contract.

If they were using the words 'Grauman's Chinese Theatre' that would be different, but it's only ever referred to as 'The Great Movie Ride' in Disney.
While this is absolutely 100% true, I still would not be surprised in the slightest if the Grauman's facade goes the way of the dodo sometime during this refurb. They have a park across the continent they can clone!

Just saw Big Hero 6. It's good, very good. I think I like it best of the four recent CGI Disney movies (Tangled, Frozen, Wreck-It-Ralph and this).

Be sure to stay for the post-end credits scene. It's unusually substantial for a WDFA release.
Better than Wreck-It Ralph? Wow, I might actually go see it then.

A good idea but it still does not solve the case of a firework blowing into the crowd itself, But a reasonable first step, I like the idea of lighting the mist that would be a nice visual.

Make Mickey ears with little sprinklers in them for the crowds. I'd suggest adapting the Glow with the Show ears for this for that extra special "zap" of fun.

Election night is a blast and a pain all at the same time.

Really is. I've been on both sides of it now, as a member of the press reporting the results and a campaign manager waiting for the SOS/media to get the results in during a watch party haha

The county I was covering Tuesday usually is one of the first in the state to report, but they had a new Supervisor of Elections and the computers when down right at 7pm. I have friend in the SOS's office and they were calling me asking what was going on down there. We finally posted all the results by 1am.

Good times.

Read Roller Coasters, Flumes And Flying Saucers The Story of Ed Morgan and Karl Bacon Ride Inventors of the Modern Amusement Parks by Robert R Reynolds.

These are blatant copies of the Disney rides. Even though some of the original Disneyland rides may have been similar to existing and past amusement park rides. The technology in them was new or the vehicles were new designs.

However, I do agree with the point you want to make. The Magic Kingdom has flat rides that are basically the same technology as rides you find in any carnival ride.

I think that any theme park needs flat rides to balance it out. Not everything can be an innovated "E" ticket. I don't have a problem with the Toy Story Playland Rides if themed well. The "carnival" rides at California Adventure add a bit of charm to the park even though the Ferris Wheel, Swings and such are nothing new.

For everyone saying carnie rides have absolutely no place in Disney theme parks...

I actually would rank Wreck-It-Ralph last out of those four. Not that it was bad, but they spent too much time in Sugar Rush IMO. I was hoping for more game jumping and world building based on the trailers and first 30 or so minutes of the movie.
I agree about the game jumping, but I thought that was one of the best Disney movies in a while. Very original, full of story and emotion. And amazing visuals and music.

And why aren't people seemingly understanding this?

And no, maybe TSPL and it's "rides" aren't exactly what the park needs. The fact is people want E-tickets. Folks, we have a park that desperately needs to be built out. No one seems to hate Bugs Land. Because it's Toy Story it's suddenly Chester and Hester's?

The park needs at least two solid D/E attractions (honestly, three), as well as several smaller attractions. Stop focusing on them being 'kiddy" rides. Don't most adults seem to love Mater's? How is RC Racer a kiddy ride? How is Parachute Drop where you go up in the air a kiddy ride? And those aren't even confirmed for us. I just don't get the outrage.

Kudos to you as the voice of reason.

Most if not all is speculation at this point regarding the DHS overhaul. TSPL is not a terrible addition.

It's actually what the park needs and if I could compare it to something, it's what a lot of people hoped Storybook Circus would be. Instead of Meet and Greets, we get 3 solid B-ticket attractions.

If TSPL is the only thing that comes to DHS (aside from an expanded TSMM) then I would see the outrage. There was an article posted earlier in the thread about the possibility of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree being converted into a Woody ride. It was unclear to me whether or not Mater's was also coming, but if that's true, then it seems like we are getting a different version of TSPL with different attractions. And besides, if TSPL goes where the backlot is now, it's not going to take up the entire space. The backlot was huge and took up a lot of real-estate. There should and probably will be a lot of space left over for other Pixar attractions.

As for Star Wars, I really just want one E-ticket experience. If I get that I will be satisfied. Though a fully fleshed out Star Wars themed land on the level of Diagon Alley would be welcomed, but I;m not going to set my standards that high.

@PhotoDave219 Assuming that your info on GMR is correct, is the Chinese Theater facade also safe? Was Disney able to get a new contract with the TCL Corporation (the current owners of the real theater)?

It would be a real stab to the heart to finally get rid of the BAH, only to have the Chinese Theater facade come down with it!

The facade rumors is just an internet myth.

making sure no one steals soda (BTW, found a great way to almost do the same. Thanks to the friend who clued me in as I used it last night at dinner!)

It's the tea dispensers isn't it? The only resort that locks those down with RFID is Vero Beach and it's because it's part of the soda fountain. I enjoy my free tea, there I said it.
