The Spirited Back Nine ...

The park that has impressed me the most in O-Town, as far as Christmas offerings go of late, has been SW. Nothing that Disney or UNI does comes close to the overall effort that SW puts into the holiday season (or did as I haven't seen what they are doing in 2014).

Good to hear since we'll be visiting Seaworld in two weeks for the first time in probably 25 years. Praying for warm weather!!!

Walking by one of the downtown Disney food trucks and seeing prices, I honestly think they're missing the concept.

Food trucks are supposed to be inexpensive and good quality. Like the taco bus in St. Petersburg Florida. But when you're trying to sell me a grass fed slider for $9.50? You're clearly missing the conceptual idea of what a food truck is.

You are obviously not in the food business. Food trucks are no cheaper then brick and mortar locations any more. They are a fad that allow cool cuisines to flourish with little overhead cash outlay.

Food is no cheaper. And in some cases way more expensive.

Me, too. Never been over there at Christmas time.

*sigh*
Moving next week. And yes, she misses you....but she misses Diagon Alley more.;)

Disney Infinity? Do people actually use/play/do that?

Oh, that's easy. One of the three is actually in Disney's good graces. The other two....

Also...
Seeing Interstellar tomorrow. Very much looking forward to it.
That Big Hero thing...ugh...no thanks.

I'll stick with:

My 6 year old loves the game but I do not play it.

Disney wants its rubes to think they are getting a real food truck experience, which btw they did a few years back in Anaheim during the Glow Fest summer event. All they are getting is WDW QSR food served from Disney decorated trucks.

Please don't tell the rubes that the slider would probably be $6-8 for two or three sliders in any big city.

Constant heat, humidity and months of rain and gloom isn't paradise despite what many in northern climes believe.

I'm sure seeing snow in early November isn't fun for the folks in Minnesota or the Dakotas, but that is part of the territory. But as someone who truly can't stand Florida's climate, I wish people would stop making it sound so much better than it is. This isn't San Diego or LA.

And that would why many of us Northerners dream of becoming Snow Birds cherry picking the best of both regions.

As a 35 year old adult, I can honestly say I will never have that chance anymore. I have put more away, earlier in my life for retirement than my parents and I will have essentially nothing when I retire, maybe a few years salary.

Yeah, that's what I used to say. That and the traffic. Then I moved to the DC/Baltimore metro area where it is also expensive with awful traffic, but without the awesome weather. I think I chose poorly. :)
You could move to NW Arkansas and get about 2700 sq ft with outdoor kitchens and fireplaces for 300,000.
Plus you experience all four seasons, sometimes all in the same month. It was 70 today with flurries tomorrow morning and highs in the upper 30s.

That's right; rub it in. You can get hand-dipped corn dogs at DD/DS, plus regular corn dogs at Herbie’s Drive-In, the Beastly kiosk in Discovery Island, and at Westward Ho Refreshments. But can I get cheese on a stick anywhere in WDW? Noooooooooo. What's wrong with you, WDW? How do you not appreciate the joy and wonder that is cheese on a stick?!

Again, mostly agree. Loved Lilo & Stitch, which is FAR superior to Frozen. I finally saw Atlantis last year and was surprised by how good (and adult too -- imagine a character smoking ... others being killed) it was. To this day, I've yet to see Treasure Planet.

Two points I'll hop on with:
  • I think Lilo and Stitch gets beat up on now, in retrospect, because of the subsequent marketing and treatment of Stitch. It seems that Disney latched onto the negative aspects of Stitch's character because those were funny and pushed those. The parks treatment of the character also leaves a sour taste in the mouths of us park fans. Personally, I love the movie. I think it is full of heart and as a adoptive father to a kiddo who was in foster care and has behavioral issues, it really struck home. My daughter kind of reminds me of a mix between the two title characters.
  • Speaking of smoking in films - just re-watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit? the other day... I had forgotten that there were kids smoking in it (or pretending to smoke at least)! I can't imaging Disney letting that scene through today...

Sounds like what I had in Ohio. Crazy weather, but at least you can afford your house!

We get all these vendor folk that move here for Walmart but most don't want the leave. They are sticking around and using their marketing skills to fund retail web startups. Can't wait to see the Corn Dog smelling LSU fans take in the forecasted snow come Sat. Football in the snow alert, 7pm ESPN2.
