The Spirited Back Nine ...

They do seem to be paying attention to the things people complain about Disney not doing/cutting, and trying to present an alternative.

I imagine Sea World suffers from being the first to take the hit Disney should be taking from Universal getting an extra day - five days Disney, one Universal, one Sea World, is now five Disney, two Universal for many families - but that seems to have pushed them to get extra creative.

Their Christmas event is better than Disney's, their Halloween thing for little kids is great for the audience and the cost of a full day adult park admission ticket, including Halloween trick-or-treating and free candy, is less than Disney charge just for the upcharge party alone.

Anyone with little kids doing Halloween or Christmas should definitely skip the Disney upcharge events and hit Sea World instead, far better nights at far cheaper rates.
They have been offering some good deals lately for APers (i am one) such as free child admission and private views of shows. I'm hoping i can stop by this christmas, everything looks fantastic.

I think you might be too wide on your temp spread. :D

For about 10 months of the year the temp spread in San Diego is 70-77. There's about six weeks in September/October when it can get over 78 with brief heat waves in the upper 80's. Then there's about two weeks combined from December to March with the occasional rainy day where the high may be 65-68 and cloudy/showery. Then there's the other 44 weeks of the year when it truly is perfect.

If Walt had built Disneyland in San Diego County, maybe near Carlsbad where LEGOLAND ended up in the 1990's, it would have been a theme park heaven on earth. Anaheim can be hotter in summer and colder/wetter in winter than San Diego can.
Thank you for correcting me as to the perfection of your weather. I'm totally not cursing you as I sit in jeans and a sweater, with a space heater blowing on me. ;)

I would love to have some snarky, East Coast comeback, but all of this is true. It's pretty close to perfect. Even Tupac was far superior to Biggie;)

We'll just pretend you had a good East Coast comeback. I spent a couple decades living from New England to the Carolinas. Every place in America has its merits, as those locations certainly did.

What I would give for a really good, proper New England, fresh Lobster Roll!

It's okay. I'm not in San Diego. I have to muddle through life 50 miles north in Orange County. All the windows in my house are open on this lovely fall evening after a cloudless 75 degree November day. But at least you can sleep tonight knowing I don't have it as easy as those perfect, attractive, smiling San Diegans! :D

True. There are pros and cons everywhere. I would definitely miss the change of seasons, but I could drown my sorrows at the Stone Brewery:)

I think they should rename Gotham ''The Penguin Chronicles: The Early Years'' because that's all it really is ... or all that is worth watching.

I thought the plan was to focus on one villain each season as the overarching plotline and Season 1 is the Penguin. So, your impression that it is centered on him is probably correct, but isn't the direction the show will continue to take (if it stays on the air for multiple seasons).

I split my time between SoCal and SoFla for eight years last decade and I've also traveled extensively.

I've never been to a place with a more liveable climate than SoCal.

Again, I'm sure if you're in Minnesota then the current temp of 68.8 outside the Spirit Cave must sound great. But we had to deal with six months of largely wretched weather to get here.

Yes Mr. Spirit, I do understand the SoCal and SoFla difference and I do choose to live here in the Frozen North (sorry). However, two years ago it WAS in the 60s here in mid-November and that is what we get...the most fickle, unpredictable weather. I just had the great fortune of being in Orlando during two weeks of the best weather anywhere between October 17 and November 1.

Infinity's Toy Box is like the only place where they even go that far with mashups. I mean look at the strict rules they put Kingdom Hearts under, only the Mickeyverse characters and Maleficent are allowed to visit other Disney settings. The convoluted plot focusing on all the anime rejects in the sequels exists entirely to compensate for that lack of freedom with Disney stuff.

Also, if Thor can exist in a universe with Howard the Duck or his own talking frog counterpart (No I'm not kidding), not to mention all the dimension hopping stuff you find in pretty much every cape comic, I don't see why interacting with Disney characters in some non-canon Super Smash Bros-esque "living toys" setting should be a big deal.
Pretty sure you wont like both gigantic comic worlds right now.
Dc comics is in the middle of the "multiversity" arc.
Marvel is currently in the Spider-verse arc.

I would love that. Hear that @Lee?
Me, too. Never been over there at Christmas time.
Get that guest suite done. Mrs. Lee misses me already!!!
*sigh*
Moving next week. And yes, she misses you....but she misses Diagon Alley more.;)

@WDW1974As for Baymax, of all the new Disney infinity characters released in the last month (at least 15) for the new 2.0 version, Baymax was the only one sold out! Just got back from a Target run!
Disney Infinity? Do people actually use/play/do that?
I want to know who will get that lifetime pass on opening day, you, @Lee or @WDWFigment ? :)
Oh, that's easy. One of the three is actually in Disney's good graces. The other two....

Also...
Seeing Interstellar tomorrow. Very much looking forward to it.
That Big Hero thing...ugh...no thanks.

I'll stick with:

Jim Hill "subtly" swiping at Disney via HuffPo (emphasis mine)

Hollywood Creatives and Theme Park Fans Appreciate the Universal Difference

A minor point, but all the HYPE about Diagon Alley ignores the brilliant move Universal made in building rides off Despicable Me and Transformers, not to mention snagging The Walking Dead for HHN (an event where attendance beat day attendance at US and IoA combined some nights--and no doubt a combination of WDW parks as well). It's not just Potter; other than a lucky break with a princess movie no one wanted to claim before it opened, Uni has been pulling the hot IPs the better part of the last decade.

Interesting.

What are views/opinions on ICE at Gaylord Palms? I've never done that.

Always impressive--true artistry. Just long enough to be immersive, you really are ready to get out of the cold by the time you hit the exit. Well worth $20, although the $15 parking fee feels like gouging.

On a personal note, I am disappointed new owners Marriott have apparently done away with the Polar Bear Plunge for charity at the event this year. Been four years in a row now, brought more and more friends every time, it had become the perfect kick-off to the holiday season.
