Since it's not in theaters yet ... what does a guy who takes pictures of theme park attractions and bathrooms know about film criticism to score an invite to the preview?

Since you bring him back up--wonder if brought along his mentally unstable ... "fan" who, unprovoked, threatened to do physical violence to me inside an Orlando theme park a couple weeks ago. Clearly the social media team in Celebration is unfamiliar with the concept of "vetting."

I would guess far more of these folks lean toward mentally unstable then the other side.

He's not there to "review", he's there to promote. It's another way to get the message out at little to no cost to Disney.

Doubt he'll be invited to review any Disney subsidiary screenings (like Touchstone) though.

Really? Haven't they all been to screenings of Thor 2 and Saving Mr. Banks already?

I'm still having a hard time getting excited about Shanghai Igerland. There is no vision beyond franchises, doing what is known.

I sorta feel that way, but just don't know enough about the whole pie yet to say.

There are original non-IP major attractions in this park and even the IP-based ones like Pirates and Tron are going to be very different than anything that exists out there.

I went to the Shanghai World Expo. It was bedlam. Besides there being too many people, the manners and etiquette of the Chinese mainlanders is really (what's the right word) rough? Uncouth? Self-serving? Lackadaisical? Unbecoming?

Their behavior has been a sore point for Hong Kong Disneyland for many years. I don't know how they've handled it there, and I don't know how they're gonna handle it when these types of customers become the majority of the park.

Especially with such a small roster of attractions. With that crowd, it can get tough really quick...

It comes down to culture. I worked and lived in China multiple times for months at a shot. I loved it, but that's another discussion.

What you say about it being a problem at HKDL was not largely what I experienced as a local who visited the park weekly. I honestly take it much like the criticism of the guests and cast in Paris or the Brazillian tour groups at WDW, on some level it's a 'these people are foreign and don't act like us, so they're bad' deal.

Things are worse in the Mainland, but if WDW let its guests do whatever they wanted ...nevermind.

I just want quality rides. MM+ is an example of too ambitious and too costly. They would have been better suited slowly investing in it and rolling each part in phases. I mean that's their strategy with park expansions isn't it?

At the risk of burying news, there have been delays in the Studios Star Wars project for multiple reasons, but understand the biggest one is the same thing that has kept Pandora in BLUEprints only: cost overruns on MM+. The BoD will not OK any new project for WDW (see Imagination) until NGE starts to earn back its billion dollar spend. Absolutely nothing has been OK'd beyond Pandora and that was greatly delayed -- and may well be further pushed back -- because of this boondoggle. So, those of you who love your MAGIC Bands? You can ride them instead!
Yes, I'm hearing the same thing. Call me optimistic but I still believe Star Wars Land is going to happen.

Eventually.

OK, "A long time from now in a theme park far, far away ..."

Gotta say though, I truly enjoyed your "So, those of you who love your MAGIC Bands? You can ride them instead!" comment.

I might start using "You can ride it instead!" every time someone goes on a rant about how much they LOVE MagicBands.

I might even give you credit for the line. :)

Anyone out there still watching S.H.I.E.L.D.? ... Other than @Lee? Yeah, didn't think so.

I saw it last night, but was irked that for the episode billed as the immediate follow-up to Thor 2 it didn't have any of the actors from that movie featured in any capacity. The Marvel brand is largely superficial for the show.

Banks is Disney proper and Thor is still relevant because of DLR's meet&greet, park merch and monorail wraps. These people aren't going to see anything that isn't directly related to the parks.

I am not a bit surprised delays in the Studios Star Wars project because of idiocy by Burbank/TDO with My Magic Plus. I wouldn't be shocked My Magic Plus wouldn't be making a profit before 2016 with Iger retiring that year with Staggs and Rasulo deciding to leave Disney.

Jay Rasulo is one the people responsible for creating this boondoggle a first place. Jay is the same person responsible for Disney not having Harry Potter, and the original FLE plans besides this boondoggle. The original FLE plans had dueling Dumbos, Little Mermaid Ride, Table Service, and a bunch of Meet Greet areas including Pixie Hallow.

The problem with My Magic Plus a first place is quite simple. The folks of TDO/Burbank thought it was cheaper to do My Magic Plus instead creating attractions for DHS, Epcot and AK as a way for people to stay in the parks and not park hop as much. My Magic Plus was created because Disney didn't want guests to go to theme parks outside of Disney instead of fixing the real problem because Fastpass Plus already had to be changed for DHS and Epcot because the attractions people want to see!

This post goes out to all the tin foil hat wearers out there, but thought it would be interesting for people to digest here, or at least tell me how this happened;

My family was a wdw last week and on 2 rides with ride photos, Dinosaur and Splash Mountain, the photopass photos on the ride showed up in my photopass account without any use of a magic band or photopass card?!?

On Dinsaour, me and my son got a ride swap pass so he could go with his mom on it after we went. He decided to skip riding a second time, but it was him an I tht used the ride swap pass first, no magic band scanning, no stopping at the ride photo booth to load it onto our phtot pass card! It just showed up?!?

Now splash is the creepy one. We were at the Xmas party on Friday, no line at all for splash, I literally walked the que and wa on the ride! Again, no magic band scanned or photopass card swiped to get a picture but it ended up on my photopass account?!?

How did this happen? I know someone on here should have some knowledge but I found it a bit creepy...lol

Btw I only used my phtot pass for my band once to meet Ralph and vanelope, my wife with her own Disney account kept track of all the photos on her band. I know our TT photo showed up on my account but thts because I scanned my band to make a car...
This was something that Disney wanted to do as part of the Photopass+/MyMagic+ stuff. There would be readers on the ride and they could attached on ride photos to your account without you doing it. It's one of the benefits/selling points of the Photopass+ but as far as I know there have been many problems with it.

Not coming. No surprise.

No Small World, which has been on all the renderings I have seen, is. Unless they are simply making it a 'Phase II' attraction.
Isn't that what they did in Hong Kong before the three land expansion?

Let me repeat there are two kinds of WDW fans: Those who experienced EPCOT Center and the rest.

So, is it just me or is no lifestyler going to print my Shanghai news because their hate for me is greater than their cconcern for their flocks and doing a good 'job'?
I can't stand when people try and make the argument that big "unrelated" projects don't effect other projects from getting the green light. It happens all the time. Thankfully, the $1.2 billion investment in DCA had no effect on WDW. Neither did the two new cruise ships.

And yet I refuse and will never pay for an overpriced picture from Photopass+.

What Happens if MM+ doesn't get implemented fully until 2015? Won't MM+ fall short of generate the profits expected in the projected initial timetable. So that means even more delays in future projects? With all the new attractions at Universal I just don't see how TWDC can wait any longer before profits start to drop at Epcot, DHS, AK and resort hotels. In the future MM+ might not have the attendance numbers needed to recoup its cost. Could that happen? How long does it take for WDW to make 1 to 2 billion dollars in profit?

If MM+ increases net revenue by $200MM/yr, over 10 years when accounting for base interest.

Yeah its sounding like another decade of meetngreets and more princesses and thats about it. Now, current and outdated and new attractions have to fall by the wayside at the expense of mymagic. By the time they allow funding for IMagination it will be in such a rotted decaying state they wont want to ever invest in it. :banghead: So essentially the BOD is punishing WDW for the mymagic mess? Arent they the ones who approved the funding for it though?
