@TheOriginalTiki Here's the Mario Kart ride without the AR element.

Obviously, can't really judge it by just ridethrough videos on an experience like this.

But based on videos the version wihtout AR is a significant improvement and a LOT more enjoyable without how busy it got with koopa shells and other racers everywhere! Can't wait till I can eventually ride it for real though!

Well, okay! Am I allowed to go “Disney/Marvel” the way I did for Nin/Mario???

Cause if so, it’s
1. Disney/Marvel
2. WWE/NXT
3. Nintendo/Mario

I didn’t rank Taylor Swift because she’s a goddess/human, not a franchise and I didn’t rank Harley Quinn because she’s me, err, special and unique!
And also! I want everyone else’s!!!!!!

I wish it were just the practical effects, the speed was doubled, and the "race" was only against the car next to you. I get super competitive about Radiator Springs Racers and that's up to chance, imagine if they did Smugglers-Run style interactivity with Mario Kart. This Toy Story Mania approach does not fit Mario Kart imo.

I'm sure I'll enjoy it IRL regardless (it's coming to the other parks right)

Hmm...is it weird that I'm pretty sure I'd actually PREFER this ride without the AR goggles? I agree that the AR makes everything look WAY too busy and unfocused. It's definitely not perfect without the goggles and the goggles probably gives it a sense of speed, but at the very least I can see that there's some actual set pieces and AAs in this thing and from what I can tell it's a pretty solid mix of practical and screen effects. Very Rise of the Resistance-esque in that regard. I can't get over how SLOW those cars move though. Even with the AR element I'd be hard pressed to actually feel a sense of speed on this thing. Plus in the golden age of trackless dark rides it's flat out ugly to see such an obvious bus bar right in the middle of all the show scenes. Wish they would have hid that a bit better.

It's here! Full queue and ride video for Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge!

Looking at these side by side is a trip, there's so many effects that are ar that I wasn't expecting to be. But I was able to tell mostly what was physical from the first video as the AR portions are kinda "ghost like". I do believe this is a ride that you must see in person as videos most likely doesn't give it justice on how fun OR impressive the experience as a whole is.

Donkey Kong really is the one I'm holding out for as a child of the 90's who holds Donkey Kong Country up as the greatest game series of all time as far as sheer quality goes. Plus if the rumored technology for the mine carts is true then it will definitely have some cutting edge stuff as far as pure coasters are concerned.

Donkey kong seems like it will be the most impressive but since it's indoors now I'm not sure what they are gonna do for set pieces. Maybe bananas and those cool statues the later games got.

Well, the rumor is that the ride vehicles will be on an elevated system to give the illusion of jumps. Besides "jumping" over gaps in the track, I could see a moment of nearly running into a Kremling minecart before you "jump" over it.

I will say though, Mario Kart does look better than the Yoshi ride, it just missed the mark big time on speed (and possibly visuals due to how much is going on). But it does still look fun and overall impressive. Yoshi ride however is too short and doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Is it a yoshi's island ride? A new super mario bros ride?
