Wasn’t Animal Kingdom open before Dinosaur released? I though Dinosaur was the reason behind changing the name of Countdown to Extinction.

Dinosaur was still in development by this time so they knew it was coming (development for the movie started in 1994. Animation started in 1996)

Yes, it was. AK opened in 1998, and Dinosaur was released nearly 2 years later.
