ELIMINATIONS

Sadly, as promised, three of you will not be continuing into Stanza XIII. At this stage in the game, even talented and engaged Imagineers will start to fall. These eliminations were decided based upon participation in Stanza XII.

Starting tonight at 7 PM EST, you will each individually get to select from a list of Disney parks in the Stanza XIII private thread. Below is the selection order, with priority decided by the Stanza XII results & contributions and by your involvement in Friends on the Other Ride. Be on time if you want your first choice!

Blasted timezones! I have work early tomorrow morning, and it'll be around midnight in the UK by the time 8:30pm EST rolls around. I'll be asleep!

One More Disney Day

The remaining heroes stand together in awe as Port Disney – which just moments before was a mere figment – began to manifest before their very eyes. Disneyland Resort’s first ever water park splashes into the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Universe fully-formed.

“Great work, everybody!” cheers @NateD1226. “I cannot wait to see what we create next as a group.”

"Hopefully it's some sort of a zoo," says @PerGronStudio.

The ghost of Roy Disney looks on with concern. “The next Sorcerer’s Apprentice does reside in your group, yes, and that person is destined to defeat the villains.”

Walt joins in grimly. “But in the end there can be only one. You must stand against Maleficent alone. Afterwards, Roy & I will each select our herald for the Endgame.”

“But until then,” chirps Roy with a grin, “enjoy a carefree day at Disneyland Resort!”

Having already thoroughly explored Disneyland when they were last here, everyone decides to visit Disney California Adventure this time around.

“We might all just be individuals now –“ says @TwilightZone.

“I’m not,” randomly interjects @Evilgidgit.

“Rrrrrright,” responds T-Zone. “Anyway, even if the teams are disbanded, let’s still experience DCA as one big happy group.”

And that’s what everyone from Team Walt and Team Roy proceeds to do, enjoying a day of fun & sun at DCA as a single really large group slowly walking down the middle of the walkways. Though of course to save on time everyone still uses the Single Rider line for Radiator Springs Racers.

It’s not until dusk that our heroes dare enter Pixar Pier, following the advice of @Pi on my Cake who claims that Incredicoaster’s beloved “Jack-Jack-on-a-stick” effect is far, far more magical at night.

Exiting, all agree that Pi is (as always) correct.

After too much sunshine and roller coasters and beers, the group stumbles out from DCA in a miasmic haze. They roam aimlessly through Downtown Disney, with @Outbound drunkenly slurring some nonsense about wanting to go drink the pool water at Port Disney.

@James G. interrupts this rambling insanity with a very cogent statement: “#VBB!”

All pause in shock and awe. In-jokes and memes from seasons past spewing from their most old-fashioned compatriot? This truly has been a life-changing competition for them all!

Nonetheless, James’ unsaid intent is instantly clear. “Hey, let’s all go drink some more at Trader Sam’s,” is what he meant to say, so that’s what they all go do.

@Disney Dad 3000 – who you will recall has been bankrolling every group activity throughout this competition – once again whips out his Capital One© Quicksilver© Sapphire© Venture© Rewards Card. “Drinks are on me! Go for broke!”

Everyone orders individual Uh Oas. The party continues into the wee hours of the morning, as our heroes throw a final blowout shindig before the great conflict.​

MISTRESS OF ALL FANTASY

Team Walt, Team Roy, welcome to the semi-final. Congrats!

We’ve traveled the world. We’ve accomplished miracles. Now near the end let’s return to a cherished Disney Parks staple: Fantasyland dark rides. They are so simple, so beloved, and so often a competition’s first challenge. We instead look to them now, to see how our Imagineers have grown. With just a simplistic ride mechanism and a story to tell, how will you fare?

Our eight remaining players must design eight new dark rides for the seven Fantasylands found in Disney Parks worldwide.

  • Wait, seven Fantasylands?! That’s right, in addition to Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland, don’t forget that Disneyland Brazil is also a part of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Universe.   • Only use Disney-owned IPs which have never been adapted into a dark ride before. You may also use original concepts. Each of the 8 dark rides should be entirely unique.​
  • Each of the 7 Fantasylands has different limitations regarding space or theme. Don't neglect research! You may replace existing attractions if necessary.​
  • Two players will be doubling up on one Fantasyland. Be sure to work together to ensure both of your ideas fit.​
  • We will be providing a comprehensive list of projects which exist in the Sorcerer's Apprentice Universe. Be aware of any changes which have already occurred in your park. This will especially impact Disneyland Paris!​
  • We are aware that each player has a unique skill-set. You won't be judged on elements which are beyond your abilities. A Fantasyland dark ride doesn't need anything beyond a simple forum post with images found online.​

This is a solo challenge. Players will get to select their preferred park based on our rankings. Anyone who hasn't selected a park by midnight EST will have a park assigned.

Still, you are encouraged to communicate with your former teammates. This Stanza's winner will need help from others in the finals. Play nicely with each other when selecting your IPs.

Two finalists will be selected following this challenge based on the quality of your dark ride. Everyone else will be invited to help them in the finale.
