This would have been one of the first 'singular attraction' prompts - but it would have had a large footprint to work with, heck maybe even @AceAstro could have included the Muppets somehow here. ;)

Nevertheless, we ended up scrapping this one because again, Season 2 had multiple Shanghai projects and there were a ton of options in the SAU that had never been explored! So we wanted to try and cover some different bases and styles of projects, such as focusing specifically on a queue, or a show, to ultimately give everyone some experience doing different components of imagineering projects, so they can succeed in the finale project

We have been transported to Tokyo DisneySea during a showing of Fantasmic. While Fantasmic was brought over from Tokyo to the continental United States parks, the show has been running for decades now and might be in need of a new facelift. In addition, given the reliance on backstory and the S.E.A. mythos to the park as a whole, perhaps a new nighttime show could spawn an entirely new connected backstory throughout the Disney Parks and Resorts?

In this task, the teams will be designing a new nighttime show for Tokyo DisneySea to replace Fantasmic. Furthermore, similar to Fortress Exploration being the original headquarters for S.E.A. and spawned other attractions throughout the Parks, this nighttime show must be the catalyst for a new connected storyline. After designing the show, please provide an explanation as to how this story will be incorporated into future attractions and locations throughout the Disney Resorts.

- Fantasmic 2000 within Fantasmic 2000! :eek::p
- This Stanza eventually morphed into the concept for Stanza VIII: The Fireworks Suite, and toned down a bit from having to include a complicated backstory for how the nighttime show blended into the expansions of the rest of the park. For Stanza VIII - it ended up being just a nighttime show.
- Ultimately, we felt that while this would have been the end of Act II - remember we were still doing eliminations each round with this format. Nighttime shows are not something that are typical in imagineering projects, so to have someone eliminated right before Act III - on a project that was not familiar, we just didn't want to end it on that - which is why Stanza VIII (a non-elimination round) became this project, and Stanza X ended on something mostly everyone likes - The Muppets!

- And once we decided that we wouldn't be using the Fantasmic 2000! Name, this thread become that idea (in April!)

Commentary - Act III

After Stanza X in the other Act II - we still would have proceeded into Act III, but it would have been designed a bit differently. While I don't have any written content for this because we planned out from Stanza I - Stanza X and left the door open for change, there would have been two challenges with 6 contestants remaining (3 per team)

Stanza XI and Stanza XII would have been combined, with Stanza XI focusing on someone from the team describing the research that went into the project, blueprints/location scouting, etc - to try and authentically replicate the imagineering process. And Stanza XII would have been to design the S.S. Disney Cruise Ship Theme Park. A new entry into the Disney Cruise Line.

Basically you'd be creating a Disney theme park on a Cruise Ship. It would have been called 'Ave Marina' in reference to the Fantasia segment Ave Maria, which in Stanza VII, became Ave Mario!

In the end though we thought this was too similar to the semi-final project of Season 2, where the semi-finalists designed Cruise Ships as well. While we were going for the spirit of Season 2, ultimately we felt that was too close to the cruise ship semi-final from the past, and wanted to end doing our own thing.

We both really liked the original MGM, and never had we seen a project delve into the old MGM, it was always about changing the current day format, by adding modern IPs and whatnot. But going back in time to save MGM, was interesting to use, so that ended up becoming Stanza XIII: The Carnival of the Animators

Now, at the last minute, we ended up having to alter it slightly and play in Stanza XIII, adding the original DCA to the 1995-2001 timeline, but MGM we were very satisfied with the results of that park, it ended up being one of the best projects of the season and a great semi-final product from everyone!
