Great Flight of Passage plan - It'll look crazy. The line will be crazy.
My advice is definitely to take the shortcut....
The rope drop will end over by the Restrooms on the right side of the map, to open up River journey as well.
Most people will take the giant path that loops around River Journey to Flight. - If you can... Go the small bridge path in the center near the water feature instead. - You'll get there quicker. It's known for getting people across Pandora with crowds efficiently
That's interesting because we both did this plan rope drop last July and had no problems with being turned around -- though if you have had other experiences then I wouldn't risk it.FYI, @TheOriginalTiki , if you rope drop, you can not do the bridge trick @MonorailRed brought up. You must loop around the long path towards Satuli and Africa, before ops loops you back through outdoor overflow and into the standard queue. If you go the bridge route (and I speak from personal experience,) a CM will tell you to turn around and join the throng of people going the other way. Make sure to keep right when rope dropping, although if you rope drop early enough, you will miss the ruins, forest, and lab portions of the queue.

Yes you did indeed -- I remember these imagesI worked rope drop from May - August.
Satuli had good breakfast though...one of the best in-park imoYou'll never understand a stampede of guests running you over for Navi River Journey (Which they thought was FoP since they didn't know the land layout yet)

Was very impressed with itSatuli has some of the freshest food on property - a lot of people would be surprised. The steak is amazing! Always the freshest thing on the line.
Can someone give me a satellite map of exactly where to go at rope drop to get to Flight of Passage? I'm really worried I'm going to be one of those people who doesn't know the layout and ends up at River Journey.

Rule #1 Prison rules always apply. Shiv your way to the front.@TheOriginalTiki to add on to the map -- if I'm understanding @Magic Feather correctly, I added in that path.

I don't think this is something in need of too much studying or stress....as long as you don't head into Asia accidentally you'll be riding Flight of Passage within 30-45 mins. Which is much better than 150 mins.
It's your first time...follow the crowds and enjoy...and then if by the 2nd visit you feel more comfortable with the layout, you can try the tricks.
