Team Goofy:

I can tell this was a huge passion project for the group, and it shows! What a ton of effort and dedication put behind it. Before I critique it at all just let me say that the presentation element of this thing is absolutely beautiful between the blueprints and drawings. Bottom line: I love the ambition on display here.

With that in mind, I also have a few concerns. As pointed out by Vipraa, it's a HUGE task. The blueprints you provided showed that it can be done, but what I'm more worried about is how the park will look when the project is under construction. That's a lot of ground to cover in a plot of land that's essentially the "hub" of the park. Also, while I give you a ton of props for incorporating such thought provoking ideas, I thought the whole pollution and man-kind destroying the Earth angle was maybe laid on just a little thick...

Team Mickey: Really nice choice of location expanding Africa out to Egypt. I feel like Egypt has such a rich look, feel, and history to it on its own that people might forget it's technically part of a much larger continent. The ride was well done with some really creative ideas. I like the direction of having bird/human creatures and that being pulled from Egyptian lore. With all that said, it's obvious that Team Goofy has you beat hands down in the presentation, detail, and research department. (Not saying your presentation isn't good, just that in a competition setting theirs very much overshadows yours...) with that in mind, this should be an interesting decision.

In terms of the construction, it shouldn't be too terrible, really. It's all really centralized in one portion of the park. The only thing part of the park that would be affected would be the area around the Tree of Life. The rest of the park would be fully open. and easily maneuverable. DCA went through much worse a few years ago.

Agreed. To our credit, there was supposed to be a ridethrough video that didn't get done. The rest of us had to whip up a backup presentation. That decreased the detail a lot.

Also, @TheOriginalTiki-- I don't feel like scoring us out of 10 fits the style of SA, though I love it in 1984. I'd rather you just rank us, if others agree.

I'm slightly biased, but I've always preferred the ranking. It gives us a bit of reasoning as to why we won/ lost. And it makes the game a little less up to debate, I suppose. That's just me, though.

Rankings are fine if the judge tells us what categories he or she will be scoring before the challenge starts (and we weren't told). But in SA I don't think they should be restricted just to scoring a small set of categories.

We are just trying an experimental scoring system for this round. It will let the teams know where we believe their shortcomings for the projects were and give the the critiques some context. It would also let the teams know how close their scores were to each other. Different scoring categories with individual scores.

We are keeping the standard critiques where we tell the teams what we like and don't like about their projects. Then we will post the scores in the final unveil of the winners and losers. Tiki accidentally posted his early due to a fault of my own in communications as this is still an evolving experiment.

The main reason we are this is it shows that we are listening to some of the complaints of inconstant judging and trying to fix it. We are just trying it for a round and want to get feedback from everyone.

@Zweiland These categories are just some basic ones we came up with quickly. If anyone wants to suggest different ones we are listening. Again this is only an experiment. Everyone please feel free to chime in.

Basic definitions in my view of the current scoring categories. @TheOriginalTiki may have slightly different views but we will nail everything down.

Creativity - The originality of a project and concepts. Finding new and creative ways of immersing guests in attractions, lands and entertainment.

Detail - The level of descriptive information given about a project. How well thought out is the project. Descriptive illustrations and Artwork. Scripts and Ride through

Realism - How realistic is this project. What are the chances of it actually being built. Do the Benefits outweigh the "Costs"

Presentation - How put together and professional looking is the presentation. Does it look thrown together or was it well built and planned out.

Group Work - How much work did everyone put together. As @Zweiland said the Teamwork Category.

Now anyone can have different opinions on these and please voice them. I myself have some mixed feelings on the group work category as that is more sorted out in the Boardroom but if people think that should count to a team winning or losing then it will. Again we are listening so speak up. :)

I don't think it should count, because what if someone pretty much requests to do the whole project? What if my team picks jobs when I'm offline and leaves nothing left(not saying this has happened)? Some people can try to do almost the whole project because they can stay up late, and some of us have school and rely on the team helping them somewhat with time. And you have a point, the Boardroom is where that stuff goes down.

I really appeciate how you both have tried to change up and adjust the reviews based on what people had said before. I think it's a great move on your part

The one thing I will say is that based on past projects and seasons, it seems like this comp varies in it's reliance on realism. There are some challenges that make it known that realism is a factor (such as the land selection in challenge 5) but others where it's more about the idea itself and less about realism.

So my only suggestion would be to maybe adjust the categories based on the challenge prompts themselves. Creativity, Detail, and Presentation should probably be steadfast, but categories like Teamwork and Realism seem to vary in importance based on the challenge itself.

But other than that you both have done a really great job taking over this comp the last few weeks. You should be proud!
