One Little Spark...
@tcool

Here's a short run down.

VM's (aka "emulators") also exist for video game consoles. So, you can download an "emulator" for say, an Atari 2600, or a Gameboy (various models), or even a PS2, and then download "ROMs", which are the game files.

Then you can play these games on your system.

Older computer games can likewise be run this way using programs like DOSbox (for old DOS games) and other emulators.

VMs also have professional applications, but I'll spare you all the boring details on that. It was a huge deal in the industry starting about a decade ago and really peaking around 2008 / 2009, though it wasn't a "new" thing...

But, this isn't a tech thread, so...

Virtual machine. Their are a lot of emulators for old games and even old video game systems such as NES,n64, even GameCube and ps2 but I wouldnt recommend them with out a powerful computer
I still have a N64 and Gamecube still... and my computers are most likely older than me or just about the same age.

Heh, that means they aren't as bad as you think they are (no offense).
You have no idea how bad they are. I only use them if it's an emergency.

I've still got an old GameCube...not many games though.
I have Mario Party 4 & 7, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Super Smash Melee, Paper Mario 1000 Year Door, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life which is my favorite game for the console.
