Trip Report The "same old" crews-less than 48 hours-Disney adventure!!

Hello all & welcome!! I'm excited to be posting another TR so soon!! This was a super short, last minute trip with the main purpose for going being the AP preview of SWGE(even though none of us have ever seen the movies :hilarious:). Here is an excerpt from my last TR just to give you some background on how this trip came to be:

Jul 27, 2019
On Thursday while hard at work I checked my personal email:p(in all fairness some work things come to that email). I see that at 11:02 I got the email invite for the Star Wars Passholder Preview. It was 11:04 so I thought there might be a chance so I tried to register. Stitch ate the page more times than I could count & I kept "waiting in line" forever. Don't worry--I worked while all this was going on:D I wasn't really concerned if I got it or not b/c I haven't as much as seen a Star Wars movie a day in my life. I looked at it as getting it would be an excuse to have to go to Disney;) At one point I saw something on the screen that I hadn't seen before & I got a little excited. Finally, at 12:25 E, J & I were registered for the event!!

I called E and she told me she didn't think they were going to go. I figured I would go by myself for a super short trip so I started looking up flights & room rates. I was ok with going by myself but I wasn't totally thrilled. As the day went on I kept thinking about how disappointed I was that J wouldn't be there. The heck with my sister but I knew I would miss him!! That evening she was at my house & as I was sneaking J Skittles & jelly beans🤫 it took all it had in me to keep my mouth shut. I wanted so bad to plant a bug in his ear about being able to go to SWGE & hoped he would work on his mom. But, I kept quiet b/c I didn't want him to be disappointed about not being able to go.

On our walk yesterday morning I brought it up again. I mentioned what I was seeing for room rates & flight times. She didn't want to spend a lot of money b/c we were just there & we're going again for a week in November. She said that maybe her & I could go for just one night and she would leave J at home. I wasn't going to let that happen! I said that I thought his feelings would be hurt & he was too young to understand why we wouldn't take him. She said it would be easier since we would really be on the move with such a short time frame. We're also limited to what flights we can take with him. She doesn't like taking real early or late flights with him which I get but they are usually the cheaper ones so it would cost even more if he came. We started talking about how many flight points we have & we all had enough for free flights. I told her there is a flight that leaves at 1:00 Tuesday afternoon & one that comes back at 2:00 on Thursday. We would be there less than 48 hours but something is better than nothing. I told her that we could stay at one of the All Stars or AoA to save a few dollars since it would be a short trip & we wouldn't be at the resort that much(even though it about killed me to utter those words!)

Within an hour of getting home from our walk while getting ready for work & having a few phone conversations with her we had everything booked--airfare, hotel & FP's!! We're going to Disney--in 24 days!!😍 There's not even enough time to order Magic Bands--not like we don't have a few spare ones laying around!! We will only have time to go to 3 parks. HS & MK are a given. I told E to let J pick the 3rd & he chose Epcot.

I'm so excited that we're ALL going!!

WHO: I doubt introductions are needed by now :hilarious:

WHEN: Tuesday, August 20th - Thursday, August 22nd

WHERE: That's kind of like answering the "who" part of this:hilarious: I know I mentioned above about staying somewhere a little cheaper but E still wanted to stay at POR(👏). And so much for saving any $$$--all they had available was Royal Guest Rooms!!

We had a 1:05 flight so I met E & J at their house at 10:30 and we were on our way!! This was the discussion on the way to the airport:
J: (notices I'm wearing my magic band)Aunt Patti, how did you get one? We didn't get them in the mail.
Me: Neither did I, it's one I had at home.
J: Mom, what about us? Did you bring them for us?
E: Yes, J.
J: Mom, did you bring my suitcase?
E: Yes, J.
J: I didn't see you put it in the car.
E: I did it this morning while you were sleeping.
J: Oh, ok. Mom, you forgot to pack Duffy didn't you?
E: (totally irritated at this point) He's in your suitcase J. Maybe you should do your own packing from now on!!

She proceeded to tell me as they were walking out the door he wanted to know where his iPod was so he could take pictures!! She said that she had actually forgot it so she was glad he asked for it before it was too late!!

We arrived at the airport at 10:55. While E went to park the car J & I headed through security.

IMG_2499.JPEG

As we were waiting for the stroller to come down the belt a TSA agent approached us & asked J if he would like this activity book. She said it was left there & she would throw it out if someone wouldn't take it. We thanked her & made our way to the "monorail".
IMG_2500.JPEG

Then directly to the store for his traditional car.
IMG_2501.JPEG

So many choices.....
IMG_2502.JPEG

He decided on a red jeep.
IMG_2503.JPEG

We walked by the macaroon stand & he said he wanted one. I told him I would buy it but he couldn't have it until after he ate his lunch. He said he wanted the brown & yellow one. It said that the flavor was Bailey's Irish Creme. Just wanting to be sure I asked the guy working there multiple times if there was any alcohol in it. He didn't speak very good English so we had a hard time communicating. Finally he understood what I was asking & assured me there wasn't.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21ST

We stopped in another store & J got a replica of the A.S.S. car.
IMG_2610.JPEG

It was almost time for the 10:30 Frozen show & we decided to see it first. E joked that we forgot our hot dogs & beers(referring to the family that was eating their lunch in the theater the last time we were there). BTW--I heard the announcement that said no eating, drinking etc. in the theater that day & I thought back & wondered how they were allowed to get away with it--esp. being 4 rows from the front.

While we were waiting for the show to start E said she wouldn't mind eating at 50's for lunch. I hopped on the app & we got a reservation for an hour later!! :D
IMG_2611.jpeg

I sent this one to R & asked him where we were & he couldn't answer me!!
IMG_2612.JPEG

I love that smile on J!!

I have to admit the show is nowhere near as good if Equity Ben isn't performing. I kind of feel bad saying that & I'm not trying to discount the other actors but it's reality. I give credit where credit is due....
IMG_2614.JPEG

After our lackluster sing-a-long we headed to TSL. No SDD for us this trip.
IMG_2615.JPEG

IMG_2618.JPEG

IMG_2620.JPEG

I may not be very observant but I am inquisitive-if that even makes any sense. I happened to notice this computer screen so I tried my best to check it out without being too creepy.
IMG_2621.JPEG

The brown circles are the rides on the track & where they were at. It was neat to watch them moving around on the computer screen. Unfortunately the line was moving too quick though & I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked watching it.

J said he wanted to ride with me.
IMG_2623.JPEG

IMG_2624.JPEG

I took this picture b/c while we were in line we were having a contest on who could find more crayons.
IMG_2625.JPEG

On the turns he would hold his hands up like he was on a roller coaster!! :hilarious:
IMG_2626.JPEG

IMG_2627.JPEG

J told his mom that he beat me. It's a good thing he's going to school soon--I don't know what kind of math he's been learning at home!!

The army men were out playing. It was so cute!!

that makes sense from a production standpoint but I would have assumed the donut part would have been flavored. Interesting approach.
I assumed the same thing--that it would be a pumpkin flavored batter but nope, same batter just some pumpkin flavoring added to the powdered sugar. But you're right, from a production standpoint their way makes much more sense.

Time for lunch!! We really enjoy it here so I was super excited!! I have a question that maybe one of you could answer. Does anyone know why when you check in they always ask which resort you're staying at? It's been like that forever. And this is the only restaurant that always does it. If no one out there knows the answer I'll be sure to ask on my next trip there!!
IMG_2635.JPEG

We only had to wait for a few minutes before our name was called.
IMG_2636.JPEG

IMG_2637.JPEG

We were taken through the maze of rooms & into one tucked in a corner that I had never been in. But we had a tv table. Yay!!
IMG_2638.JPEG

IMG_2639.JPEG

We also had the most unenthusiastic server there ever was. He had not one ounce of humor or sarcasam......nothing!! He didn't tell us to set the table. He had no jokes for us. He was somewhat nice but we all know they're not supposed to be "nice" at 50's. His charm wouldn't help him in a restaurant with a different type of environment either. Bottom line--he was just....there.
IMG_2640.JPEG

I thought this calendar was neat.
IMG_2641.JPEG

J got salmon. He ate all his salmon, most of his corn & about half of his fruit. E got Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken and I got A Sampling of Mom's Recipes. The same foods we always get there!!
IMG_2644.JPEG

I sent this picture to R. His response, "What are you doing? Your SWGE time is 11-3. It's 12. Why aren't you there yet?
IMG_2645.JPEG

As our server handed us the bill he said, "There's 3 stickers in there. You can share them if you want". He really was a bit odd.
IMG_2647.JPEG

The interaction part was a disappointment but the food was delicious as always. In June both 50's & Frozen had us laughing hysterically. Both were a bummer this time around but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for next time!!

First off--I want to apologize for not commenting to you all sooner. I was in a car accident this weekend. I am fine but my car didn't fair too well. I was t-boned & pretty much the whole drivers side of my vehicle except the very back(I have a Honda Pilot) needs either replaced or repaired. Fortunately the lady that hit me was not injured either. She was a wreck though--she kept apologizing & was crying. I felt bad for her. It's crazy how quick things happen....

Yay!! I'm glad!!

Glad you're here!!

Yay!! Glad to have you!!

Thanks!! I can only imagine. They look like they would be very labor intensive. My mom used to make lady locks--my oh my. The amount of work is unbelievable.

:inlove:awww, thanks!! I'm glad I made you smile!! I wish you all the best!!

Thank you!! Ask & you shall receive:joyfull:

I hope it will be somewhat interesting considering my lack of knowledge of it. R was pretty impressed just seeing my photos. You're probably better off waiting until February--maybe the crowds won't be as bad?🤞

Thank you so much!!:D Fun it was!!

Not late at all--esp. with my little setback this weekend!! I hope you enjoy it!

J is a hoot, that's for sure!! That car decision was actually torture for me. I was telling E about how long it took him & he heard me. It was then that I felt bad--I think I hurt his feelings. At that age it amazes me how much thought they put into things!!

Thank you very much!!

Thanks!! J's reaction--yeah.....fortunately this trip was so short that it won't take long to find out!!

Glad you're here!!
So glad you're ok!0

So glad you and the other lady are ok, car accidents are so scary I don't remember the impact of the ones I have had other than the time our works car park was iced over and I slid into one of the managers cars!

Looking forward to your take on SWGE as someone that isn't a Star Wars fan, personally I loved the original 3, hated the middle 3 but I am enjoying the new ones.

Finally catching up on your epic 48 hour Disney trip!

It said that the flavor was Bailey's Irish Creme.
This gave me a craving for some French Pavillion macaroons! I bet Bailey's Irish Creme was pretty good.

J got mac & cheese. J didn't like his mac & cheese.
How could he like it? It wasn't Disney mac and cheese! :jawdrop::geek:

I was in a car accident this weekend. I am fine
So glad you are okay. Those are so scary and overwhelming. I'm sorry about your car. Glad it wasn't your fault. A few years ago, I was harshly rear-ended on my way to work. My head hurt for a few days but I am glad there were no lasting effects.

When E asked me about my location I did make it sound a bit worse than what it really was so as not to irritate her anymore
What a sweet big sister! Of course, if she reads this, she'll know the truth!o_O

When we first walked in J actually said, "Let's stop for a picture"!!
He's quickly picking up on the Disney routines and lingo!

J's habit of reading the safety instructions has now carried over to the park maps. On this trip he would get out of the stroller & grab a guide. Then he would start "reading" it :hilarious:
As an elementary teacher, I am very proud of J and habits like that are HUGE for kids in terms of their reading development! I'm so excited he's studying maps and "reading" them!

J wanted a Blue Raspberry Kakigori
I did not know this existed in Epcot! I'll have to put the shave ice on my must-do for 2021!

I thought this dress & purse were very interesting
WOW! Love the vintage look and pattern!

While we were waiting for the show to start E said she wouldn't mind eating at 50's for lunch. I hopped on the app & we got a reservation for an hour later!! :D
The app is amazing! How'd we all survive without it? 🤩🤩🤩:banghead:

I may not be very observant but I am inquisitive-if that even makes any sense. I happened to notice this computer screen so I tried my best to check it out without being too creepy.
Makes perfect sense! I love that you were curious and reported back to us! Awesome that you were able to snap a picture! :geek:

On the turns he would hold his hands up like he was on a roller coaster!!
Those are fun turns!

Sorry about your lackluster experience at 50's. Here's hoping for a better experience next trip! Or failing that, just take a hot dog and popcorn into FROZEN :bored::cautious:🤫

So glad you're ok!0
Thank you!! :D
I specifically told my people not to text me for my upcoming trip, like they texted me on the bus to EPCOT the last time.

So I’m sure that’ll be ignored. 😂
I agree it's a pain but sometimes it's easier to take the call/text--at least in my experience. If it's something I can handle while I'm away it usually makes my life easier when I get back.

You're probably right....it will be ignored. But, on the bright side--doesn't it make you feel important😉
So glad you and the other lady are ok, car accidents are so scary I don't remember the impact of the ones I have had other than the time our works car park was iced over and I slid into one of the managers cars!

Thank you & I am glad I don't remember it! Slid into one of the managers cars:oops::oops::oops:...oh boy. How did they take it?

I'm hoping to get the Star Wars posts up today🤞 I don't know how well my take on it is going to fly on here but I will be honest in my feelings on it.
Immature, I know, but I cant help but giggle when you said that you bought an A.S.S. car replica!
Not immature at all--I was laughing while I was typing it:p

I wouldn't know--he wouldn't share but finished it so I guess so! 🤣

Exactly!!

Thanks!! That stinks but not having medical issues as a result of it is what's most important!!
What a sweet big sister! Of course, if she reads this, she'll know the truth!o_O
I don't think we have to worry about that. She told me awhile back(like 5 months ago) that she had started reading my "I Can't See" TR but as far as I know she never finished it:confused:
He's quickly picking up on the Disney routines and lingo!
Yes he is!! He made the funniest comment to me(Disney lingo)on the plane on the way home. E & I were cracking up--it was so funny!!
As an elementary teacher, I am very proud of J and habits like that are HUGE for kids in terms of their reading development! I'm so excited he's studying maps and "reading" them!
It's funny the way he studies them(& the safety instructions). I wonder what's going through his brain & how he's processing it. He always has a very focused look about him when he's "reading" them.
I did not know this existed in Epcot! I'll have to put the shave ice on my must-do for 2021!
It was quite large too! A good value for what I paid.
WOW! Love the vintage look and pattern!
It was cute--not something I could pull off though!
The app is amazing! How'd we all survive without it? 🤩🤩🤩:banghead:
Sometimes--actually quite often--we are forced to!! So many features don't work for me quite a bit of the time--unless I just have bad luck!!
Makes perfect sense! I love that you were curious and reported back to us! Awesome that you were able to snap a picture! :geek:
I thought it was pretty neat!!
Those are fun turns!
Yes! I have never seen someone put their hands up on it. Leave it to J!!
Sorry about your lackluster experience at 50's. Here's hoping for a better experience next trip! Or failing that, just take a hot dog and popcorn into FROZEN :bored::cautious:🤫
I'm hoping that also!!
🤣I like the way you think!!

We decided to get food from both Yorkshire County Fish Shop & Les Halles and split it. @susan lees I looked at everybody's name tags at Yorkshire & didn't see your son. I decided that after asking for him twice back in June that I probably shouldn't do it again. I could see it now, "Oh great, that stalker lady is back"!!

The really weird thing about your photo is that I know the CM standing at the door of rose and crown. He's a good friend of Jack's. What's the chance 😂😂

Ok, here it is....the moment you've been waiting for.....SWGE!!(Complete with probably the worst commentary EVER in a TR considering I didn't understand the majority of what I was seeing. Consider yourself warned.....)

I had heard that the line to get in at the start of the time windows was long. Since we ended up not getting there until 12:30(our time was 11-3) we did not experience that. At the area where the red umbrellas are you had to show them the paper copy of your reservation & your photo id. After that you were directed around the umbrellas & some trees to another group of CM's who scanned your MB. I really didn't understand why the paper was necessary. I can see the photo id but whatever....who am I?
IMG_2648.JPEG

I must mention that the dialect of the CM's had me quite confused--of course, it doesn't take much to confuse me!!🤣 But I would have to assume they were doing a good job of keeping with the Star Warian language or whatever it may be called.
IMG_2649.JPEG

IMG_2650.JPEG

And we're in!! The area when you first go in is pretty big & wide open. The walking areas are much better than what's in TSL but unfortunately like TSL there isn't much in the way of shade. Actually, the whole land is that way🥵
IMG_2651.JPEG

I thought the trash cans looked very interesting.
IMG_2652.JPEG

I'm sure it will be of no surprise to you that I have absolutely no clue of what this is. It definitely is not a ride or shop so I guess it's just something to look at?
IMG_2653.JPEG

People were waiting in line to get their picture taken in front of this. I believe R told me it's a fighter jet??
IMG_2654.JPEG

I was quite interested in looking at the merchandise stands b/c I wanted to pick something up for R. I had no clue what though.
IMG_2655.JPEG

I did think this was cute. Chewbacca was out working on this "fighter jet??" I was a bit confused though. I thought he only worked on the Millennium Falcon. Can someone clarify that for me?
IMG_2656.JPEG

The public does not have access to the area. One can only look from afar....

An unobstructed view of the "what I believe" is a fighter jet.
IMG_2658.JPEG

We had been given a guide map on the way in.
IMG_2659.JPEG

I was sending R pictures & he did say that everything looked "movie quality". I took his word for it. Who am I to say?
IMG_2660.JPEG

Again, the walkways are very spacious which I'm sure they are going to need but it is very open & it was getting quite hot.
IMG_2661.JPEG

If anyone out there would like to chime in with what all this is please feel free. I could really use a narrator!!
IMG_2662.JPEG

I'm sure it's not but this looks like a junkyard to me!! Again, you could only look at it from behind the fence.
IMG_2663.JPEG

Gosh, I felt sorry for the CM's. Some of their outfits were really heavy looking.
IMG_2664.JPEG

A sign in the Star Warian language.
IMG_2665.JPEG

We went to seek some shade in one of the gift shops. So did everyone else that was there. But, I don't think most had the same intention as us. They were there to check out the merchandise.
