Trip Report The "same old" crews-less than 48 hours-Disney adventure!!

Hello all & welcome!! I'm excited to be posting another TR so soon!! This was a super short, last minute trip with the main purpose for going being the AP preview of SWGE(even though none of us have ever seen the movies :hilarious:). Here is an excerpt from my last TR just to give you some background on how this trip came to be:

Jul 27, 2019
On Thursday while hard at work I checked my personal email:p(in all fairness some work things come to that email). I see that at 11:02 I got the email invite for the Star Wars Passholder Preview. It was 11:04 so I thought there might be a chance so I tried to register. Stitch ate the page more times than I could count & I kept "waiting in line" forever. Don't worry--I worked while all this was going on:D I wasn't really concerned if I got it or not b/c I haven't as much as seen a Star Wars movie a day in my life. I looked at it as getting it would be an excuse to have to go to Disney;) At one point I saw something on the screen that I hadn't seen before & I got a little excited. Finally, at 12:25 E, J & I were registered for the event!!

I called E and she told me she didn't think they were going to go. I figured I would go by myself for a super short trip so I started looking up flights & room rates. I was ok with going by myself but I wasn't totally thrilled. As the day went on I kept thinking about how disappointed I was that J wouldn't be there. The heck with my sister but I knew I would miss him!! That evening she was at my house & as I was sneaking J Skittles & jelly beans🤫 it took all it had in me to keep my mouth shut. I wanted so bad to plant a bug in his ear about being able to go to SWGE & hoped he would work on his mom. But, I kept quiet b/c I didn't want him to be disappointed about not being able to go.

On our walk yesterday morning I brought it up again. I mentioned what I was seeing for room rates & flight times. She didn't want to spend a lot of money b/c we were just there & we're going again for a week in November. She said that maybe her & I could go for just one night and she would leave J at home. I wasn't going to let that happen! I said that I thought his feelings would be hurt & he was too young to understand why we wouldn't take him. She said it would be easier since we would really be on the move with such a short time frame. We're also limited to what flights we can take with him. She doesn't like taking real early or late flights with him which I get but they are usually the cheaper ones so it would cost even more if he came. We started talking about how many flight points we have & we all had enough for free flights. I told her there is a flight that leaves at 1:00 Tuesday afternoon & one that comes back at 2:00 on Thursday. We would be there less than 48 hours but something is better than nothing. I told her that we could stay at one of the All Stars or AoA to save a few dollars since it would be a short trip & we wouldn't be at the resort that much(even though it about killed me to utter those words!)

Within an hour of getting home from our walk while getting ready for work & having a few phone conversations with her we had everything booked--airfare, hotel & FP's!! We're going to Disney--in 24 days!!😍 There's not even enough time to order Magic Bands--not like we don't have a few spare ones laying around!! We will only have time to go to 3 parks. HS & MK are a given. I told E to let J pick the 3rd & he chose Epcot.

I'm so excited that we're ALL going!!

WHO: I doubt introductions are needed by now :hilarious:

WHEN: Tuesday, August 20th - Thursday, August 22nd

WHERE: That's kind of like answering the "who" part of this:hilarious: I know I mentioned above about staying somewhere a little cheaper but E still wanted to stay at POR(👏). And so much for saving any $$$--all they had available was Royal Guest Rooms!!

We had a 1:05 flight so I met E & J at their house at 10:30 and we were on our way!! This was the discussion on the way to the airport:
J: (notices I'm wearing my magic band)Aunt Patti, how did you get one? We didn't get them in the mail.
Me: Neither did I, it's one I had at home.
J: Mom, what about us? Did you bring them for us?
E: Yes, J.
J: Mom, did you bring my suitcase?
E: Yes, J.
J: I didn't see you put it in the car.
E: I did it this morning while you were sleeping.
J: Oh, ok. Mom, you forgot to pack Duffy didn't you?
E: (totally irritated at this point) He's in your suitcase J. Maybe you should do your own packing from now on!!

She proceeded to tell me as they were walking out the door he wanted to know where his iPod was so he could take pictures!! She said that she had actually forgot it so she was glad he asked for it before it was too late!!

We arrived at the airport at 10:55. While E went to park the car J & I headed through security.

IMG_2499.JPEG

As we were waiting for the stroller to come down the belt a TSA agent approached us & asked J if he would like this activity book. She said it was left there & she would throw it out if someone wouldn't take it. We thanked her & made our way to the "monorail".
IMG_2500.JPEG

Then directly to the store for his traditional car.
IMG_2501.JPEG

So many choices.....
IMG_2502.JPEG

He decided on a red jeep.
IMG_2503.JPEG

We walked by the macaroon stand & he said he wanted one. I told him I would buy it but he couldn't have it until after he ate his lunch. He said he wanted the brown & yellow one. It said that the flavor was Bailey's Irish Creme. Just wanting to be sure I asked the guy working there multiple times if there was any alcohol in it. He didn't speak very good English so we had a hard time communicating. Finally he understood what I was asking & assured me there wasn't.

Always enjoy your reports! I'm so glad you're ok from the accident 🙏

The crazy thing is I don't remember the impact itself. I remember everything right before & after but not the car actually hitting me. I've heard that when something traumatic happens sometimes people can't remember it b/c you somehow block it out of your mind so you don't have to relive it. I'm guessing that's what happened here?? It was broad daylight so it's not like it was dark & I couldn't see what was going on.
Totally happens. My friend and I had a 4-wheeler wreck when I was in high school and neither of us remember anything after leaving the house to ride around (she actually had a head injury and lost all memory of the 2-3 weeks before the accident I think). It sucks cause we have no idea what happened! It's probably for the best though, I imagine reliving traumatic stuff like wrecks could be pretty horrible.

Same. I got hit bad when I was in high school. I remember realizing I was about to get hit and my next memory is facing the opposite direction. I can remember everything except the actual impact/ getting turned around.

Excited to hear all about your trip! Macarons are my favourite!! I took a class on how to make them and now I zero problem paying 2.50$ for one. I thought god that’s expensive but when I saw how much works goes into them, I totally get it.

100% agree. I tried making them myself... once. They tasted ok but looked terrible. (like little 💩s because they were chocolate and I couldn’t pipe the cookie part nice.)

I will gladly pay for good macarons.

So sorry to hear about your accident, I am happy no one was injured!
Thank you!! No injuries is all that matters, that's for sure!!
No worries.. you like, what you like! =D Glad you are your ok. Sorry about your car!
And Riverside is a definite "like" in our book!! Thanks so much!! I'll be happy when it's fixed!!
Glad to hear you're ok.
Thank you!!:)
So glad to hear everyone is okay.
Thank you!!:)
[small voice]I paid $2.16 yesterday[\small voice]
:arghh:PA taxes really stink!!

Awww, thank you!!

It's amazing what the body/brain does when you really think about it!! I do think it's best that the memory is blocked somehow from your mind. About 7 years ago my dad was cutting down a tree & somehow fell out of it. He survived & is fine but in the beginning the doctors told us multiple times that he wasn't going to make it. He has no memory of the actual fall either. Again, I think it's for the best.

I like that....."once":D At least they tasted good!! My niece, B(she was in the last TR) wants lady locks for her birthday. Since my mom passed I guess it's up to me to attempt them. I just know it's going to be a disaster b/c I can't cook/bake in the least. I am going to attempt it though🤞Good news is her birthday isn't until January so I have some time to practice!!
So glad you and the other driver are ok, @riverside. Cars can be replaced. Awesome aunts cannot.
Thank you!! That was so sweet of you to say!!:inlove:

Yay! I can't wait to read the rest of your report and see your SWGE pics! So glad you are ok! I was thinking about you this past weekend as August 18 was the one year anniversary of Brian's mom's death. We finally made it through all of the firsts. The hardest was what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this month. Hope you are doing ok on that front as well.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 20TH

I sent this to R to show him that the British Revolution was playing that day. We did not see them though. We didn't have much time to spend at Epcot.
IMG_2545.JPEG

It looked strange with the walls up.
IMG_2546.JPEG

IMG_2547.JPEG

Our first FP was for SSE.
IMG_2548.JPEG

I will spare you my pictures from it b/c this is pretty much how they all turned out(like they always do). I don't know why I bother taking them.....
IMG_2549.JPEG

IMG_2554.JPEG

J's habit of reading the safety instructions has now carried over to the park maps. On this trip he would get out of the stroller & grab a guide. Then he would start "reading" it :hilarious:
IMG_2555.JPEG

We headed back to WS to get dinner.
IMG_2556.JPEG

Traditional pic for my BIL, D.
IMG_2557.JPEG

We decided to get food from both Yorkshire County Fish Shop & Les Halles and split it. @susan lees I looked at everybody's name tags at Yorkshire & didn't see your son. I decided that after asking for him twice back in June that I probably shouldn't do it again. I could see it now, "Oh great, that stalker lady is back"!!

Thank you so much!! Wow--one year already. How fast time goes. I'm sure the wedding anniversary would have been really tough--esp. being that would have been such a milestone. I'm hanging in there. Being the oldest of my siblings I almost feel like I almost have to take on some of the "mother" things that my mom did--even though we're all grown(if that makes any sense). I feel like some of my siblings turn to me for certain things like they did our mom(which I'm totally fine with). My dad is the one that I worry about the most. He has his good & bad days--which is totally understandable. One day he wants to sell the house, the next day he doesn't. So many times when I'm trying to reason with him I feel like I'm my mom talking. Their 48 year anniversary would have been next month so I'm sure he is not going to take it too well.

I'm not either unless I have time to look at a picture... when I'm walking along in Disney, I don't notice a lot. My hubby is always like... did you see that? NOPE!
I seem to have a hard time noticing things. When I'm doing those "I Spy" books with the kids I seriously can't find anything!!

We took our order of Fish & Chips over with us to France. J was funny--he kept asking where the chips were!! :hilarious: I can see how that could be confusing for a little one. And, if you remember from previous TR's J doesn't "love" french fries so he doesn't eat them.
I told E I would get the food from Les Halles. Someone was just getting up from their table & offered it to us which was nice b/c the only thing we could find is a tall one so we would have to stand. It would have been ok for E & I but hard for J.
We got one of the ham croissants.
IMG_2559.JPEG

And one Croque Monsieur.
IMG_2560.JPEG

The croissant was definitely the winner of the two!! Actually, I don't think I would get the Croque Monsieur again. By the time I had got back with the sandwiches J had already ate a whole piece of fish! He ate some of the sandwiches also. I actually thought of titling this TR "The Trip that J Ate Everything in Sight" b/c he ate so much for such a little guy. E & I were thinking he might be going through a growth spurt??

While walking through WS we enjoyed pretty low crowds. What was not enjoyable was E on the phone with work. Somebody did something they shouldn't have & E was not happy in the least. At one point I heard her saying, "And who decided they could make that executive decision?"
IMG_2561.JPEG

IMG_2562.JPEG

Sensing E's tension I decided that I needed a beer:p I did ask her if she wanted one but she declined. J wanted a Blue Raspberry Kakigori(much healthier than the funnel cake that he normally likes to get next door in America).
IMG_2563.JPEG

This was the only place(thank goodness)that I saw that had this type of terminal. I hope & pray they aren't switching all of them to these eventually. The buttons were hard to push & they were super tiny. Not user friendly in the least bit...
IMG_2564.JPEG

My Kirin Ichiban & J's shaved ice. He ended up eating the whole thing!!
IMG_2565.JPEG

We moved to the side to stop & enjoy our refreshments while E continued trying to straighten out her work issue.
IMG_2566.JPEG

I looked at my phone & compared the weather there & back home.
IMG_2567.PNG

How about that--1 degree warmer in Pittsburgh!!

While we were standing there this duck kept moving closer & closer to us. And no, J wasn't feeding him like he did at Casey's on the last trip!
IMG_2569.JPEG

Finally he came out of the grassy area & started walking around us!
IMG_2570.JPEG

We continued onward. I believe the work drama was over at that point.
IMG_2571.JPEG

We stopped in Karamell Kuche so I could get some popcorn. I still have it in my refrigerator. I would guess that it's probably no good at this point!
IMG_2572.JPEG

The line moved pretty quick.
IMG_2573.JPEG

We headed out of WS to go to our next FP.
IMG_2576.JPEG

One of J's favorites!!
IMG_2577.JPEG

While in line they were looking for a party of 3 so we got to skip some of the line. The bad thing was that we missed quite a bit of Patrick:cry: As it turned out the CM had somehow miscounted b/c there was only room for 2 of us. She ended up putting me in the row behind E & J.
IMG_2578.JPEG

After Soarin' we headed to Mouse Gear. J wanted to go on LWTL but we were running out of time so we didn't.
I really liked those pants but I don't think I could pull them off so I didn't buy them.
IMG_2583.JPEG

I thought this dress & purse were very interesting!!

It was around 8 & we headed out. E was trying to keep J on somewhat of a schedule & didn't want him up too late since he is going to be starting preschool in a few weeks.
IMG_2585.JPEG

J took his usual seat so I sat back there with him.
IMG_2586.JPEG

We got off at the South Depot & walked through Fulton's--like we normally do. I was hoping they had some sort of face lotion but they didn't. I got quite a bit of sun a few days before we left for Disney. My forehead started feeling tight & I knew it was going to start peeling. I didn't have any lotion in my travel bag since I normally don't use it in Florida b/c I would probably break out like crazy between the lotion & the sweating. Earlier E had suggested that even though it wouldn't be ideal just use the lotion that they have in the room. Good idea but that lotion must have been on the chopping block b/c it's no longer in the rooms(sorry @Matt and Kelly). And that's not the only thing--how about no more pen & paper on the nightstand!! Anyhow, they didn't have face lotion at Fulton's so I ended up buying..........
IMG_2587.JPEG

.....this. Thank goodness for the AP discount b/c it's original price was $19.99!!! It did help a bit but I still ended up with a peeling forehead.
IMG_2588.JPEG

After that we headed back to our rooms for the night!!

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21ST

I got up the next morning & went to head out for a walk. I had told myself a few days earlier to make sure I charged my toothbrush before I left but did I.......noooo. Did I have my charger with me.......noooo. It started flashing yellow that morning but ended up hanging in there for the duration of the trip. Had I been there any longer it would not have.
IMG_2589.JPEG

I headed out a little after 7 for my walk. E & I meet at 6 every morning & walk here but she couldn't go with me at POR b/c there was no one else to watch J. I offered for us to take turns but she declined.

It was a beautiful morning & not too hot yet.
IMG_2590.JPEG

IMG_2591.JPEG

IMG_2592.JPEG

I went by the section E & J were in. Their room number was 9931. I guess she was right--she might as well have been in FQ!!
IMG_2593.JPEG

They were behind this part of the building(where it has 3 floors).
IMG_2594.JPEG

I headed down to FQ. I thought of my sister C & how panicked she got in June when we would walk & the bats would be out. I took this picture & sent it to her with the caption, "No bats today"!!
IMG_2595.JPEG

I finished up my walk at FQ.
IMG_2596.PNG

I had heard that FQ had pumpkin spice beignets & I couldn't wait to try one!!
IMG_2597.JPEG

It was good but the pumpkin flavor was a little too subtle for me. In one bite you could taste it & in the next you couldn't. E didn't care for it but J liked it. So much that he ate his & some of E's(here starts his marathon eating for the day)!!
IMG_2598.JPEG

E texted me on my way back to POR to say that they were almost ready. I didn't expect them to be ready that early so I had to hurry. I dropped off their beignets to them then headed to my room to shower & get ready.

I got back to my room & saw this:arghh::arghh::arghh: How can it be--we hadn't even been there for 24 hours!! What an awful feeling!!
IMG_2599.JPEG

We met at the East Depot & were on the bus shortly thereafter.
IMG_2600.JPEG

J assumed his normal position & I sat next to him.
IMG_2601.JPEG

E sat further up with the stroller.
IMG_2602.JPEG

The security lines at HS had been changed since we were there a few months prior. Now there are designated lines for strollers & wheelchairs.
IMG_2603.JPEG

IMG_2604.JPEG

We started out by walking through the shops. J saw this hat & really wanted it. E wasn't keen on buying it b/c it was something like $35.00. She kept telling him to wait b/c he might see something else that he liked better. He wasn't thrilled but she promised him if he didn't see anything else we would get it on the way out. The reason it was so expensive is b/c it lit up. He didn't know that though & she didn't want him figuring that out b/c he would want it for sure then!!
IMG_2605.JPEG

We went to Starbucks next where J commented on all of the boxes up above us.
IMG_2606.JPEG

I guess 1 1/2 beignets wasn't enough b/c he had to have a cake pop!!
IMG_2607.JPEG

J really wanted to ride TSM so I checked the app to see what the wait time was
:banghead::banghead::banghead:
IMG_2608.PNG

So we had to check the old fashioned way & go see for ourselves!!
