Day 9
Spinner stays but gets a companion attraction- Flying Carpets- A mix of a new type of flying coaster and dark ride, you go on a ride with Aladian and Abu through the buildings of agrabah.
Another idea is A dark ride of Genie's vacation
Basically you fly along with Genie as he travels around the world- ( This would be a ride in Epcot somewhere)

Day 10

Make way for Prince Ali! Continuing on from yesterday’s misrepresented characters in the parks, we are going to be working with Aladdin. Aladdin is a great movie and has lots of potential to it, but it only has a spinner. Today, we are going to change that!

Did Aladdin successfully overthrow the Kingdom of Agrabah? | Lipstick Alley

Your task is to…

Propose an Aladdin attraction in a Disney park of your choice

All I ask is that you don’t do a spinner

Some reminders:
-You can keep it simple! You don’t have to make a full blown 10 page document on the ride. You can do a couple sentences and/or a few pictures. Whatever you feel comfortable with

-Don’t be scared to share your ideas! Every idea is a good idea

-Have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to think outside the box.

Now get to thinkin’!
So, something that comes to my mind is the rail-suspended dark ride system. It's a neat dark ride system that can really give that feeling of gentle flight, but it seems like it's mainly just been used for Peter Pan's Flight. I feel like it could offer a neat perspective for dark rides where their source material has some sort of flying moment or vehicle, and Aladdin is a perfect fit for that. So, I propose...

Aladdin's Wondrous Journey

A-Whole-New-World-with-Magic-Carpet-in-Aladdin.jpg

Starting in a queue that winds through the alleys of Agrabah, guests will climb aboard their own flying carpet and witness the magical story of Aladdin and his magic lamp. They'll soar through the Cave of Wonders and witness the delightful magic of the Genie, watch as Aladdin makes his grand debut as Prince Ali, and see Aladdin and Princess Jasmine discover a whole new world together.

These are very fun ideas! I love the idea of a flying coaster and dark ride!

The Cave of Wonders: An indoor coaster on the Magic Carpet, flying through the Cave of Wonders before we are sealed inside, though the ending has the Genie appear to perform "A Friend Like Me".
Love it! Friend Like Me is such a great ending for an Aladdin ride.

Aladdin and the Three Wishes

A boat ride akin to Pirates of the Caribbean following Aladdin through the streets of Agrabah then traveling with Jafar to the Cave of Wonders for the finale drop as Genie grants a wish to escape.
I love water rides so this is perfect to me. Aladdin fits perfectly with a boat ride.

MAGIC CARPET CAVERNS
AT DISNEYSKY

This is absolutely amazing! BTW, I have been reading DisneySky and I am blown away. The detail is insane.

Aladdin’s Treasure Mountain
A retheme Of Tokyo’s Splash Mountain

Your task is to…

Propose a new nighttime musical festival for a theme park of your choice

You might be a little confused, so let me give you a guide.
  1. Pick a theme park. Doesn’t have to be Disney. Make sure the lands are themed.
  2. Look at all the lands and try to add fun musical aspects (like shows, bands, singers) to them
  3. Write it up! Doesn’t need to be long, but just make it sound fun for people to go and listen to some music the compliments each land of the theme park.
Some reminders:

Okay, so a bit of backstory for this.

Remember earlier in the thread where I said that I submitted an oddball prompt? This is the prompt I was talking about... kind of.

You see, the prompt I submitted didn't really mention theme parks. It was intended to be "Create a immersive music festival." For those wondering what that would entail, allow me to introduce you to Boomtown Fair:

Best described as "the Tomorrowland festival meets Evermore Park," Boomtown Fair is a UK festival that combines the manic energy of your average music festival with immersive theming, with each style of music at the festival distributed among the distinctly themed districts, each with their own set of actors and micro venues that festival-goers can interact with in-between catching musical acts at some downright jaw-dropping stages. There's even an expansive, multi-year storyline that festival-goers can take part in.

With such an amazing event, you can see why I would want to some armchair imagineers take a shot at making a similar type of music festival. However, there was a slight miscommunication with Nate and the prompt ended up changing to what we have now. Now, I am 100% okay with the change. In hindsight, my original prompt was a bit too open-ended and probably better fit for a bigger, team-based game like SYWTBAI or SA.

The problem is that I had already written something for the original prompt without realizing what was going on with Nate. 😅 It's not too bad, since I did intend to have it at a Disney resort due to the theme as well as allowing for easy lodging (not sure on as specific location, I'm eyeballing Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris as prime candidates), but I didn't feel conferrable posting my idea until Nate okayed it.

All of that text just to say that this project doesn't fully fit the prompt, so if you're having trouble with this prompt, don't rely on this too much.

That said, I hope you enjoy:

Underworld Festival

Once a year, the border between the mortal realm and the Underworld weakens, allowing Hades to almost literally raise hell on Earth. Dark souls, both alive and dead, gather together to create the most wicked party you've ever seen and you’re invited to join in the festivities… if you dare.

Districts:

Underworld Central - Based off of, well, the Underworld from Hercules. Features the festival’s main stage, based off of Hades’… Palace? Home? Whatever this cool skull thing is.

n5p7pbPHHOsM-RK4JDBjExx5DkN2QF2YYiKO0-4OhvkRCwi77I9hhe406ScJ8VG6mRX2lnb_u0poPf6s6jCmpjvclGRLX0HxUPl0ousnrQE3bKwmxQ2UA5p-5aWLJTA_sj9lV8y0

Wicked Woods - Sees the Evil Queen and Maleficent locked in a fierce battle over control over the area. Featuring a juxtaposition between the strange flora and fauna of the fey and the Queen’s dark and imperial developments/vanity projects. Stages themed to their respective dark diva lie on opposite ends of the district.

Sinister Streets - A dark city, home to some of the more urban villains. Features several small clubs and two stages: one designed for Cruella de Vil’s fashion shows (which festival-goers might end up getting roped into) and one large Mardi Gras-esque one inspired by Dr. Facilier’s “Friends on the Other Side.”

Wild Ruins - A tribute to Disney's beastly villains, these tribal ruins feature extensive use of puppetry to bring the wildlife to life. This district’s main stages are the Temple of the Red Flower (inspired by the Jungle Book) and the Elephant Graveyard.

Dark Waters - This once might have been a prosperous seaside port town. Nowadays, though, it’s infested with all kinds of pirates, with Captain Hook’s Jolly Roger serving as a main stage. But that’s not all you’ll find here. Also threatening the area is Ursula the Sea Witch, who has set up shop in a nearby grotto, complete with her own stage.

Pleasure Island - A more child-friendly area, this carnival-like paradise features pop-up flat rides, play areas, and all kinds of activities for kids who might not enjoy the more adult parts of the festival, all with no risk of turning into a donkey… hopefully.

The Haven - The green fields area of the festival, this district is meant as a reprieve from the high energy nature of the rest of the festival and is lighter on theming, in both terms of tone and quantity. The focus here is more on community, so there is only one stage: The Sanctuary, inspired by the design of gothic churches, particularly Notre Dame (Hellfire not included).

Potential Expansions:
The Flying Dutchman stage for Dark Waters (enhancement of the Jolly Roger. Hook would still be part of the area, just moved to...)
Skull Rock stage for Dark Waters (new Hook stage. Added same year as Dutchman)
Bald Mountain district (would feature the second main festival stage. Not sure how to represent Chernabog)
Haunted Mansion stage/district (entirely indoors. Unsure of making it a part of Wicked Woods or just next to it)
Queen of Hearts/Wonderland district (so much possibilities for this, it borders on too much. Could even warrant it's own festival)
Science themed district (One stage would be themed to Yzma’s lab. Other stage would be for Syndrome, not sure on specifics there)

Alright...a nighttime music festival. Certainly a big challenge, trying to create a unifying theme of music throughout, though I do appreciate @b-wolf95 giving a clearer bit of inspiration behind his whole prompt. It's definitely a bit out of my usual wheelhouse, but I think I might draw some inspiration from an earlier post of mine in this very thread for my proposal.

Max and Goofy's California Rhythm Road Trip

4d8b6e3fc0155daef85a3355f060fbb0.png

Goofy and Max have arrived at Disney California Adventure, taking a wild road trip across the Golden State to see the sights. Of course, no road trip is complete with some music, and there's plenty of it around the park! Each land will have its own musical themes and performances that tie into the setting.

  • Buena Vista Ballyhoo!: Goofy wanted some classic big band tunes to start off their California road trip, but Max wanted something a bit more modern to start them off. With their compromise, we get a fusion of old and new as Electro-Swing brings synth and swing to these old-timey streets.
  • Party of the Stars: Hollywood Land brings a pulse-pounding club beat that's beloved for those big name Hollywood stars. Stick around for more than just the sights, and you might even get the chance to witness a Powerline concert in person!
  • Awesome Concert Vol. 1: The Guardians of the Galaxy have stopped off at the Avengers Campus, and Star-Lord has brought along some help to play some of the biggest hits of the '70s and '80s!
  • Open Road Rockabilly: You need a quick pace to keep you going out on the open road, and the Rubberneckers are ready to put the pedal to the metal in Cars Land with some 1950s rock 'n' roll and rockabilly jams!
  • Shanty Soiree: The tides of the coast bring with them the tunes of the sailors, and a hearty crew has set up shop to delight the ear with some seafaring shanties and hornpipe melodies.
  • Pier-less Beach Party: Pixar Pier becomes the sight of a beach party that's simply "Incredible" thanks to a mix of '50s and '60s beach music that's fit for a busy boardwalk.
  • Classic Carnival: Paradise Gardens Park has always had an old-fashioned feel, and that comes through with barbershop quartet performances and calliope covers of classic Disney tunes.
  • Country Cooldown: Sometimes even a roadtripper needs a moment to cool their heels, so Grizzly Peak offers a calmer atmosphere with some acoustic country music to fit the woodsy setting.

Wgen they eventually refurb WDW Space Mountain, add a space pilot character to the queue. She could help give a bit more storytelling as the "host" of the ride, but it could be kept very subtle and low key. Plus, that could test the waters for a movie based around her character.

Thank you! I wasn't sure exactly what to do for a music festival, so I decided to revisit the Vacation Adventure proposal for some inspiration. Also, if I'm honest, there's something about DCA that just seems like a good match for A Goofy Movie.

Now, onto the next proposal...

Now, coming up with a new original character can always be a challenge. I find it helps to give some grounding root of inspiration to help guide it. In this case, I'm thinking about Universal Studios Florida. It feels like it has a bit of a muddled feel much like Disney's Hollywood Studios, given how both started out with a major focus on the "behind the scenes" of filmmaking while changing to put more movie locales in. It's been a bit better handled at DHS, while USF has been a bit more of a mess. That said, I still like Universal and feel it just needs a good jolt to recapture and realign its original premise of "Ride the Movies". Maybe a central mascot could help guide the way...

C. L. the Movie Maestro

Looking like he's stepped off a 1930s film set, C. L. (whose name is inspired by Carl Laemmle, the real-life founder of Universal Studios) is a film connoisseur and movie maker who's more than just an excitable showman. He has a true love of movies, a respect for their power to transport us from our own day-to-day with gripping stories, memorable characters, and wondrous sights. With just a flick of his magic projector, he can do just that! Guests will step out of their ordinary reality, finding themselves stepping into the worlds of beloved movies and taking part in the action. When C. L. gives the word, you'll soon to be given a chance to... "Ride the Movies!".

A bit sad that not many people responded to the music festival prompt, but I understand why. It was a rather ambitious prompt and was probably a bit too much for this game. Honestly, I mainly suggested it so that I would have an excuse to introduce the forums to Boomtown Fair, but I still would like to see more people's ideas. Hopeful someone revisits the idea for one of the bigger games on here, where the prompt would actually fit.

While it is very tempting to try to bring my wolf bot character to the parks, instead I'm going suggest something I think Disney should do when they finally redo Journey into Imagination: the Figment Squad (name subject to change). Basically, during the planning stages of the redo, a contest would be held where artists around the world are invited to create their own character for the ride. There would be some restrictions (mainly just making sure the characters aren't too adult for the parks), but otherwise, entries can be whatever the artist wants, in order to fully cerebrate the creative sprit of the world. Some lucky characters would even get their own short film about them, to be played in the Imagination Theater.

I really like this! Space Mountain has always felt a little lackluster in storytelling considering how amazing the ride is which you fixed with your character.

Some lucky characters would even get their own short film about them, to be played in the Imagination Theater.
This is a really good idea. I have always felt that Disney should let more guests be apart of the magic in the parks since that is what Disney is all about. You captured that perfectly. Wonderful idea.
