Couldn't find an official thread on it, so I figured I'd start one!

I for one cannot WAIT to see this. I am so excited to see the return to traditional animation. And for it to be a fairy tale! And for it to be Disney's first african american princess! I cannot wait to see it.

Here are a few links.......

The official site: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/princessandthefrog/

Make sure you go to the official site and watch the teaser trailer if you havent seen it yet. It looks AMAZING. :sohappy:

And here is an article I saw today concerning a VERY impressive new celebrity addition to the cast!

I also heard that they will be holding the premeir in New Orleans! I plan on going to the premeir, and seeing it in the city it was meant to be seen in!

If you have any info, pics, or other PatF related content, post it here!

Okay everyone, over at IMDB someone found a video that may intrest those here who cannot wait for The Princess and The Frog; like me. Someone found a video on youtube where Randy Newmen sings the song Down in New Orleans. This is the full song and I think Disney is okay with it since he performed it at a concert. So here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YY_q2KuqAso

I am hopeful this movie will be nothing more than phenomenal. It will be a great addition to have an African American princess - for the most part every race in the world has been developed into a character at Disney. The cast on the movie is great as well. I think Oprah is doing a voice.

It looks AWESOME!:D

*prays for the 2nd Disney Renaissance*

If this doesn't do it, WDFA is in a heap of trouble. Because for some reason, no matter how good their 3d movies are, they don't bring in the bling like Pixar (see Bolt). If they put out a gorgeous, hand drawn masterpiece, and nobody buys tickets - yikes.

Just because a film doesnt make money doesnt mean its not a good movie. Take No Country For Old Men(last years best picture). It made $ 74 million at the box office and it is seen as a great movie. Now compare that something like Hancock, which made about $228 million but isnt all that great of a movie. I know alot of people like Bolt. I am one of them. Do I think The Princess and The Frog will have alot of competition? Yes. It has Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones" opening a week before it. And it has open on the same weekend as James Cameron's Avatar(not based on the animated tv show). Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 and Spyro: The Movie are also supposed to open that weekend, but I think they will be moved. Alivin doesnt have a script and Spyro doesnt have a director. But that said, I think The Princess and The Frog will bring in some good numbers and be a good movie.

Ditto! I can't wait for this, as far as the Disney princesses go, the next nationality is a hispanic one. That would great if Disney could represent everyone through the princesses.:sohappy:

I don't think you'll really need to worry about Disney stopping making traditional films anytime soon. Their past is always going to follow them around and with Lasseter in control I think they will continue pressing forward with their 2D films.

The whole "2D is dead" ended when Eisner left Disney and the bringing of the Pixar team into Disney is really going to be a great thing for their 2D feature animation group. It doesn't mean that these films are going to be hits right away and it might take some time for them to strike gold, but let's face...the late 70's up until 1988 (I think...Rescuers Down Under) was a much darker time in Disney animation history than what we are currently looking at.

I'm unsure of this film...for me...I just don't know. I know that Ron and John brought us Aladdin and Mermaid...but they also brought us Treasure Planet and a couple other financial duds. (Note: I really like Treasure Planet, but I know an unpopular movie when I see one)

We'll see though...I'm actually more excited for Rapunzel, but with it's story problems, Glen Keane stepping down from it's top role and the amount of money that they put into the computer software, I think it'll be tough for that movie to actually make any money.

I'm very excited about Princess/Frog, because the trailer looks great! The only thing that will kill this movie is if the filmmakers make it a "Message Movie" (as a friend of mine likes to say) that shoves an overused expression down our throats...like pretty much everything Disney made in the mid–late 90s.

I'm interested because as someone who visited New Orleans frequently as a child (not so much anymore), I laughed my butt off at all the inconsistencies in the "Haunted Mansion" movie. The family had a front-bumper license plate, they talked about going to "the Lake" (what lake? the one that's been closed to the public for decades?), and they drove through beautiful forested areas—none of which exists in NO.

Let's see if this movie is more correct regarding the local culture and city.
