The Park Formerly Known as Disney's Hollywood Studios? Yep ...

Disney Florida Adventure would take the best of confusing Hollywood Studios and Universal Studios (Florida/Hollywood) with Califronia and Islands of Adventure.

Now it won't just be where's rip ride rockin' rollercoaster, and where's harry potter at DHS, but where's that toy cat story with the hat in Florida Adventure. Perfect for confusing the heck out of people who don't pay attention. Let's go to Islands of Florida and then stop at Disney's Universal Hollywood.

And yes, I've heard people seriously discuss everything but the adventure parts.

Sometimes it's the content and not the name...Disney can call it "Whatever Land" if it had the best attractions to draw guests in.
I remember when "The Empire Strikes Back" came out in 1980 (yes, dating myself) and everyone was saying "what in the heck kind of title is that for the next Star Wars film"...it turned out to be the best SW film out of the six.

How about a bit of armchair Imagineering shall we? I say keep the name, but don't make it out to be a working studio. Focus on what each "studio" has presented.

Opening Act: When guests enter the main gate they step right into the Hollywood of times gone by! There they see a few famous buildings that existed or still exist in Hollywood. They can even drop in on a classic Sci-fi tv show on the Tower of Terror or take a ride through the radio with music legends, Aersomith! (Work in progress). You may also experience a live stage show of one of your favorite Disney movies from the past. (Think something like Disneylands Beauty or Tangled show but with much more) *they could retell Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

Act Two: Disney Animation Studios. After seeing the sights of Hollywood from the 50's, take a right and see some old and new favorite cartoons from Disney Animation. For the first time in forever you can experience Frozen in front of your eyes on stage! Your friends from the Disney Channel and Disney Jr are there to meet you as well. Finally, see the World through Walt's eyes and realize how he made it from cartoonist to theme park creator.

Act Three: Disney-Pixar Studios: Take a walk through Andy's room before playing with the gang from Toy Story in Toy Story Midway Mania! Then be prepared for the Big Blue as Crush takes you on a ride of your life on the EAC. Following the wildly successful release of Finding Dory, this indoor coaster is something you won't want to miss!

Act Three: Disney Studios: requires relocation of Jack Sparrow. Possible addition of Marvel characters that they can actually use...

Act Four: Muppett Studios: relocate existing Muppett area w/small expansion.

Act Five: Lucas Studios: Star Wars and Indy.

--wow...actual lands that make sense!

It doesn't make sense when you have two act 3's.

I don't think Cars Land is something that is going to happen at DHS. I think it would be better for the park if they focused on replacing the old worn out stuff elsewhere in the park and add Star Wars land rather than spend all that money on two new lands.

as of recently. i think going down a Stars Wars path is definitely reaching out, it's using a brand that had nothing to do with Disney and Disney's brand to promote their parks. it's an unfit piece that they are just shoving in. it ruins the magic imo. same with Avatar.

TWDC spent $6,000,000,000.00 (that's six billion to you and me) on the purchase of Lucas Film. They did this to leverage the awesome power of the Star Wars brand across as many segments of the company as possible. TWDC, leveraging the IP of a wholly owned company asset is hardly "shoving". To not do so, after the significant investment in the IP would be negligent. If Star Wars is not your cup of tea, OK. But it is here to stay and will grow in presence and importance to TWDC as a whole. This thing is going to "pay the bills" for years to come!

I don't know much about what is "coming soon to ATPFKaD-MGMS", but what I hear, makes this information feel old and/or not accurate.

Not to mention it's more vague than the lists of fake attraction names posted in the armchair imagineering forums.

I still think that they should go back to having active studios there, but mostly television, and particularly The Mickey Mouse Club again. It worked well in the '90s, and would work again, with a built-in audience. So would fun game shows (like Family Feud is done at Universal) and some discovery-type shows or live-on-tape shows. Not to mention WDW Inside/Out could be resurrected..

Thanks for posting this. This is one rumor 'confirmation' that makes me happy. I've not always agreed with @WDW1974's take on some things, but he is always spot on with information.

(I've always felt that he would be in interesting person to talk with. Having said that, his often curmudgeonly styled posts, and frequent use of the word '', lead me to believe that a chat with him would be much like this :)...I'm Castanza btw)

I kind of like the great movie ride but if the whole park is getting a "redo" then I can't criticize it's removal until I understand what the redo is. It might not make any sense to leave it if the park is not studios based any more.

So, wait. Are you telling me that the average guest isn't dumb enough to believe that changing the name of the park, as was done in the last decade, is enough to change the identity of the park? We expect actual substantive updates?! Never! We are just dopes who want more meet n greets and prescheduling!

It seems, the change to the DHS moniker was as effective as Gov. Rick Perry donning his Smarty Pants Glasses.
