Trip Report THE ONE WITH A FEW MAGICIANS IN AUGUST 🤡COMPLETE🤡

Hello again.
I have another trip booked in less than three weeks so I need to power through this. So let’s go.....

In my last TR you all convinced me to take a side trip to WDW after dropping my son off at school. I was on the fence until one poster (I am too lazy to look it up) said they would never pass up an opportunity to visit WDW. I agree.

Not too long after that we had a big family get together and I asked if anyone wanted to drive down to Florida with X and I then go to WDW with me for a couple days. My 16YO nephew said yes but he is kind of a nervous type so I did not take him seriously. A few days later his mother, my SIL said, “you know J was serious right?”

I went on DVC and booked a room immediately. I could not believe my luck when I got a 1BR at Boardwalk. I have been trying for 12 years to stay there. Yay!!!

THEN my SIL, also being the nervous type, said she would go too. WHAT???
She was just there at Christmas and she is going with me in September for food and wine. This is way out of character for her.

THEN my youngest, Dre, decides he wants to go. Wait. We are not all going to fit in X’s
truck.

SIL suggests she fly down with the boys and meet me at Disney. That is what we did. Let me tell you about it......

We had hoped for a PP pix in front of the tree but we had entered the park separately because of Dre’s MB problems. And now as we left there was one photographer and a huge line! Selfie it is!

I rarely complain about the heat because I hate the cold and if I have to complain about something I can’t control it is going to be the cold.
Bright side: look how low the humidity was!!

We relaxed and the boys swam. Bliss.
But SIL wasnt as content as I was. She wanted a draft beer. Sure, I prefer draft but we have ice cold Corona Lights right here.

I joined her at the pool bar. There were two bartenders and they were each helping someone. We stood back a bit so we weren't breathing down the necks of the customers in front of us. But when you leave the door open...

Warning! This will be graphic and judgy and perhaps even mean.
A girl with her suit up her butt cut right in front of us and proceded to order drinks and food. Lots. She clearly was not 21 and the bar tender asked her for ID. Which she didnt have. Then he told her she didnt have charging privledges on her MB. She turns to her friend/sister/cousin/ whatever and whines, “can you go get Daddy?”
Ok, you cut in front of us. You dont have ID. You can’t charge. And pull your suit out of your butt! And shame on the bar tender who knew we were next but decided to help the twit.
So Jersey Joe comes over and pulls out a wad. “What do you need sweety?”
“Where is my Daddy?”
“Here, you need money? How much?” Counting bills and thrusting them toward her, “here.”
We got SIL’s beer. As we walked away we looked at each other and said “Jersey. They are definitely from Jersey.”

I really can't stand people who cut in line like that! I'm from New Jersey and I know exactly what you mean.! Shame on the bartender for not saying anything about you being in line before her.

A CM told us they call the waterway the, Disney "channel". I have no idea if its official, but thats what we call it now

You all are seriously rubbing off on me, yesterday i picked up a tshirt that was covered in a pattern if avocados. I seriously considered buying it until I got a grip!!!

We changed and headed to the bus stop. Today was the day @Tuvalu had arranged a magic meet with some magicians who were in the world. I had prepared SIL that we might let the boys head off and do their thing and we would go to a new place for a drink with my firends. “Your what?” I explained wdwmagic and how/why I considered these people friends and it sounded crazy even to me. So I dropped it and thought I would see how it would go, wait and see if I could sneak away.

We waited a long time for a bus. A long time. Then a Jasmine bus pulled up. Remember when I was checking out if SSR and I saw the Jasmine bus driving around the parking lot?
The door open and a driver jumped out and asked us where we were heading. He then told us they would take us.

Serious #shirleystatus

Turns out the driver who welcomed us aboard was training the driver who was driving. We talked and talked the entire time.

We arrived right as move it shake it was passing by.

Then we had to FP the ladies room

Fall decorations. They look nice but...isnt it a tad early???

The boys were hungry-SURPRISE!!!-so we decide chicken nuggets.

But first:

My SIL is on Insta a lot!! But she had never heard of this. #purplewall. She posted and we moved on. (Why are we both doing the flamingo? That was not planned)

Mmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

We got one for the boys to share then moved on. I had made a FP for Buzz.

At this point I was realizing these people were lost without me. They were really depending on me to show them a good time in MK, we only had this night to enjoy it. I could not desert them even though I really wish I could have met up with @Tuvalu , @bee , @Tony the Tigger , @DisneyGigi and @NunuBelle
I am sorry I missed out on the meeting at Three Bridges but my family needed me.

Andreas was being difficult. He wouldn't smile and he kept going up on his toes. Finally the PP photographer said, “now give your mom a kiss!” And he did And thank goodness she wasn't named Callan because she got the shot! This one is going on the wall!!!

We were heading to Buzz and I got this notification.

I googled how to get galactic hero so I could help SIL get a higher score.

It didnt help

Then the people mover.

On the people mover I worked on getting a FP for Space Mountain because my nephew really wanted to do it. That was the only thing he asked for.

I got a SM FP but it was for 8:30 so what to do next?

We emerged from CoP and it was pouring. And it wasnt going to stop. What to do? We only had tonight for MK so we needed to press on. I had bought dollar store ponchos for everyone and had distributed them that morning. Each if us was responsible for our own poncho.
Ponchos on!
“Ummmm, Mom. I took mine out of my bag when we went swimming and I left it back in the room.”
“Really???!!! Is it next to your toothburush? Oh wait, that’s at home!”

Out into the rain we went. Dre was poncholess.
We headed to Pirates.

When we came out it was still pouring. We went into Pecos Bill and mobile ordered. Dre got a burger and I got my usual kids carnitas rice bowl.

Too much sour cream
The boys found a table while SIL and I got the food. It was packed in there, mostly with people just trying to get out if the rain, not eating.

After we ate we headed to Haunted Mansion.
It was pouring. Did I say that? Here are some pix for proof.

This is a random person who I do not know but I think she will forgive me for taking and sharing this hilarious picture. She was making rain(?) angels. Puddle(?) angels.

We stood here for a few minutes while Dre ran into the store to get a poncho, WITH HIS OWN MONEY.

There were a huge amount of people under the awnings of HM but they were just milling about trying to stay dry. They looked like a huge line but it was a walk on. Why they didnt just go on the HM is a mystery to me!

While in the stretching room a CM snuck over and stood super close to SIL just to the side of her and stared her down. My SIL turned, saw her, screamed and grabbed me. It was pretty funny.

I told them there was a photo but clearly I had no idea where it was. I told Dre it was in the beginning. “No, it’s at the end.” “No, it is somewhere in the beginning, just hold the pose.”

After we finished there were CM’s standing by the wheelchair entrance, which is in the hallway just before you go outside. The door was open and they were inviting guests to take the wheelchair entrance to reride so we wouldnt have to go outside and get wet. I thought that was way cool of them!! But we didnt take them up on it. We wanted to go to Small World. Well, some of us did

Overheard while walking to Small World: “What should we fastpass next?”
“The bus!”

We got to Small world and here is a shocker, it was down.

It looked like the rain was letting up a little bit.
A rainbow

But the other direction looked ominous.

Making the most if it we continued on. We came upon the carousel. None of us had been on it in so long and the line was short so we got on. Once the ride stopped the CM shouted to all of us in line that her audio was down and she was waiting for her shift leader and it should just be a few minutes. Okay people, we speak Disney. A shift leader is going to come , eventually, and do what? Call engineering? They are at small world. We hopped off line.
How about Pooh? Down
Teacups were running but no one was interested.
Fantasyland was down. There had been a power surge. Lightning? (Look @Tuvalu , I spelled that correctly)
We still had about 30 minutes before Space Mountain FP but we headed that way.
It had started to pour again!!!
Buzz was down.
People mover was being evacuated.
Did I break the Magic Kingdom with my weather jinx???
A random man came by and said they were closing MK.
?????
We continued on to SM. It was down.
SIL said, “time of death. Let’s call it.”
I suggested we book it before everyone else arrives at the same conclussion.

Some quick parting shots as we hustled down main street.

I got a notification that our SM FP had become a multi experience FP.
We kept walking toward the exit.

Can you believe people were still coming in?
Why??? Dessert parties?

We got a bus back to Boardwalk. Ice cream? Yes please!

Ample Hills is not my favorite but it will get the job done.

J also got ice cream then he and SIL headed back to the room to get out of their wet clothes. Dre headed to the gift shop in hope of finding cup o noodles. He found a can of chicken noodle soup. We bought two cans and headed back.
Dre made the soup for he and J and I got a load of laundry going and put our shoes in the dryer.

And that is the story of how I missed the epic magic meet and broke the Magic Kingdom.

Great stuff as always!..The target on the bottom of Zurg's ship about midway thru the ride is a big point target as well!

My MIL was in MK that day and couldn't believe the rain, and she's lived in Florida for over 30 years!

We missed you, but of course understood why you couldn't join us! And we could see a (the?) rainbow too from Coronado!

There are certain people who behave badly while waiting for the bus between NYC and NJ whom we call JBBs: Jersey Bus (I can't post here and it rhymes with "ditches"). These are the people who show up right before the bus leaves and try to skip the entire line because they "didn't realize" we are all waiting for the same bus.

Oh my goodness, what a day you all had at MK! I'm glad you kept your sense of humor through it all as the rain really puts a damper on my mood. The walkways in Frontierland look like a river at some parts and that guest laying on the ground was hysterical! Sorry you weren't able to get much done with the rides down and closure. I'm not a big fan of the Ample Hills at the Boardwalk either. We usual walk into Epcot and head to the France gelato shop for ice cream instead. Hope the trip got better weather wise.
