Does anyone else have special things that they always do the night before leaving for Disney? For us we always go to our favorite pizza parlor and enjoy some wonderful pizza AND I break out the " Itinnerary" !! When when my kids were younger ( But still enjoy it now 18,21 22) they are always anxious to see what RESTAURANTS we will be eating at. We get back early and get to bed because we usually have around a 7am flight.

Every year we go Sunday to Saturday. Our tradition is to spend Saturday, the day before we leave, listening to my husband say, "we should have left today". That - and we get sushi for dinner. :slurp:

You will find me doing last minute laundry and packing. DH will be cleaning...we hate coming home to a mess. Once the house is clean and bags are packed we will watch a movie and order dinner..pizza most of the time.

I always work the day before, then I spend the evening packing and listening to Disney music. I can't get myself to pack any earlier than the absolute last minute
After that, I tend to just toss and turn all night. It's a good plan.

Besides dancing around with anticipation?

We usually always end up doing some kind of take out or go out to dinner, so we don't have to deal with the mess after. Then we come home, try and head to bed early, which never happens since we can't sleep. And I always find a way to sneak in When you wish Upon a Star, though it has gotten to be more of Baby Mine, which is the song I sing to my son at bed time.

We always get pizza the night before too! And I go through my crazy checklists for the hundredth time, w/o really needing too because I'm always ready to go about a week before, haha!
We always go over our itinerary too. But really we just hang around giddy with excitement and silly smiles. Love those feelings!

The title of your thread reminds me of the poem I just wrote for my 2 sons. We are surprising them with a trip to Disney in October and I am going to get my oldest son to read the following poem as a slideshow on the computer the night before we leave ... I feel like such a geek .... I teared up just writing it !! :)

Twas the night before Disney, when all through the house
The Casey’s were stirring, because of a Mouse
The tickets were placed in our wallets with care
In no time at all our family would be there

The children were restless up in their beds
With visions of Disney stuck in their heads
Mom’s got the butterflies and Dad is no better
We’d stay for a month if Mom’s work would just let her

Can’t wait to see Pluto, Mickey and friends
Always wishing that our vacation never ends
From Spaceship Earth to the Castle we’ll roam
Knowing we are at our home away from home

Fireworks that will bring Mom to tears with ease
Followed by her children who are surely to tease
Everyone knows what these memories are worth
At this, the Happiest Place on Earth

The luggage is packed and ready to go
The real surprise is, the kids just don’t know
No longer can we, this secret keep
Brett and Austin,
We are going to Disney in just one more sleep !!!!!!!

Love Mom and Dad

That poem is the best. Great work on that!!

We generally work the day before we go. However this year we are driving to Chicago on Friday afternoon to fly out early Saturday. Tickets were a lot cheaper than Milwaukee plus we have a free place to stay there and a ride to and from the airport so it works out great We will be mostly packing and spending a few hours with family before we head out. Can't wait.

Since tonight is the night before Disney, I need to pack, charge the batteries to my Cameras, and we always have pizza for dinner before a trip.

What a wonderful poem. Thanks for sharing! We can't wait to surprise our kids in a few years with a trip to Disney.

Hard as I try to have everything done ahead of time, I usually spend my evening packing (it's a victory if I'm done before 11). Night before is spent pulling all of my "last minute" lists off the was. The wall next to my bedroom door is full of different lists taped up, one for each person, one for carry ons, stuff like that. I finally fall into bed saying "I'm too excited to sleep" and in what seems like mere moments, the alarm is going off. We're leaving in 6 days.... I"m too excited to work!!

The night before we leave for Disney is usually last minute packing, looking over our check list and not being able to sleep. Work on the day we leave is usually brutal. We usually drive, we leave on Friday evening after work and we stop into a fast food restaurant. Early the next morning we always stop at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Once we arrive at Disney we check in, unpack and always order a pizza. We like to walk around the resort and relax and gear up for a week of fun!!!!

We typically take the 7:30 a.m. flight, so I have to take a sleeping pill the night before because I'm too excited to sleep.
This year we are leaving at 5:45 p.m., so I'm sure I'll be antsy all day long, waiting for DH to get home from work!

Other then being filled with anticipation. I alway have last minute packing to do and I tend to straighten up the house one last time before we leave... Who want's to come home and clean a house after vacation right? :ROFLOL: I also treat myself to pedicure the day before leaving for Disney! Got make sure the feet look good! Then it's time for bed and I'm just "too excited" to sleep so I toss and turn till my alarm goes off and I can say we are going to Disney today!!! :sohappy:

You reminded me - I always clean the house and put fresh sheets on...but I don't vacuum until AFTER my husband takes the dog to the "puppy hotel" so we don't come home to dog hair tumbleweed :lookaroun.

I thought of something else, kind of important: Check the batteries in your fire/smoke alarms when you return. We got a new carbon monoxide detector over the weekend and while it was on my mind, I decided to check the batteries in our fire/smoke alarms. Well, the one at the top of our stairs had a completely dead battery. My husband and I were trying to figure out how we didn't hear it beeping that the battery was low and I realized it must have gone bad when we were away for the week...in DECEMBER (scary!). Definitely check batteries when you return.

I typically will get together with the party who are travelling with me, we go over our itinerary and check out the maps while having some cocktails to calm me down. I never get sleep the night before my trip because as the comercial says "I'm to excited to sleep" so a drink or two cuts the edge off.
