The Night Before Disney

What I love about this site is that its opened my eyes to so many NEW things... I feel like a newborn Disney love. Sure, I went 4 times between the ages of 8 and 14 but it was this past may after a 11 year gap at 25 that I just fell in love with Disney again. And here we are... less than a year later and I'm already heading back. Leaving Sunday morning... trying to think of some fun and interesting things for my "night before"!

we're floridians so we drive. since we like to get there in time to check in and still hit the park at opening we leave around 4am so the night before i pack, check, recheck, and re recheck everything and pretend that i'm actually going to get some sleep. usually end up getting into bed around 1-2am lay awake until the alarm rings and hit the ground running. before our next trip in november i think i may try packing a day earlier and hit the tequila bottle instead and see if that helps lol.

We usually head over to my boyfriends parents house...since they live about half an hour away from the airport and we live about an hour 15 minutes. Plus we dont have to park this way. Usually order pizza and wings. Then taking a large sleeping pill in order to put me down for the night...then I make him (and his brother who usually drives us) get up super early so we are there SO far ahead of time. I don't care. It's a DISNEY day, can't waste any time and can't take any chances we get caught up in security or have a gate change.

(Just today I had to get up extra early for work...about 6:30 instead of 7:30 and I rolled over and said "hey babe it's just like a DISNEY morning!" He was not as excited as I was)

Our last 4 trips we actually spent the night at the airport hotel. Our flights were for 7AM, and as the airport is an hour and half away, that just lets us sleep a little longer. It's nice to roll out of bed and just walk to security! Feels like our vacation starts earlier, too! We stop somewhere nice for dinner on the way to the airport, then enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we board our flight.

Going to Vegas in April, and are diong the same thing for that trip!

The Night or Day before I go I head over the Museum of Science & Industry for the day to get ready. It has that Epcot-ish feel to the Museum and I always get excited..After which I go out to my favorite restaurant by my home called Ram Brewery and order a 1lb burger cut it in half and save the other half for the upcoming morning when I go...It's Bliss...

UGH....the night before we leave for Disney is the LOOOONGEST day of the year LOL..... Forget Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, whatever, the night before a Disney vacation seems never-ending.

I always have the house clean, bags packed, lists checked/rechecked, Maybe this year I will have to leave more to do the night before, but then I will spend my whole plane ride thinking i forgot something :(

Good thing we ALWAYS take a 7am flight, and on the other end of that flight is WDW!! Makes all the waiting worth every second! 209 days to go!

The closest airport is a 3 hour drive so our night before is usually driving to the airport hotel - the shuttle in the morning to catch the flight..sometimes just getting there is a "trip".. but once I'm on that Magical Express bus its all good!

I'm usually helping the wife and kids with their last minute packing and then stuffing the crap into the car. Then I try to get 7-8 hours of sleep before we head out on the 13 hour drive.

I usually have the bags packed a couple of days before we leave. But I do recheck everything. Take the dogs to the kennel for their vacation and check with the cat sitter to make sure they know we are leaving. And we usually stay in a hotel the night before, but this year we are driving. So we definately have to get sleep to make the drive. It's about a 15 hour drive. We plan on making an adventure of it, so it should be fun. Can't wait!!

I was packed a day early for my last trip because July 3rd is my moms birthday, I new I would be doing something with her that day/night since my g/f and I left on July 4th for WDW. I slept over at my g/f's house that night and we didnt get to sleep until about 2am and we had to be up and out on the road for 6am with a 11-12 hour drive ahead of us. That wasnt fun, lol.

The trip before that I got a little more sleep but the trip itself took even longer since I was taking a full size 40 something foot RV to fort wilderness with my brother and his family.

The week and night before I leave I always look forward to being at Disney and the fact i'm on a road trip but then after driving for 3 hours and then realizing I still have the time equal to 3 NFL football games to go before we get there, it becomes a chore rather then a fun road trip, lol.

We really don't have a night before routine. This year our flight doesn't leave until 5:55pm and my hubby has to work until 2pm. I will spend the night before going through the lists, packing all the stuff we can pack and then spend the day of our flight so antsy with anticipation, I'm sure I won't get anything accomplished. I won't feel like our vacation starts until I get in our room at POR. I'm not sure I can wait another 2 months....

Twas the night before Disney, when all through the house
The Casey’s were stirring, because of a Mouse
The tickets were placed in our wallets with care
In no time at all our family would be there

The children were restless up in their beds
With visions of Disney stuck in their heads
Mom’s got the butterflies and Dad is no better
We’d stay for a month if Mom’s work would just let her

Can’t wait to see Pluto, Mickey and friends
Always wishing that our vacation never ends
From Spaceship Earth to the Castle we’ll roam
Knowing we are at our home away from home

Fireworks that will bring Mom to tears with ease
Followed by her children who are surely to tease
Everyone knows what these memories are worth
At this, the Happiest Place on Earth

The luggage is packed and ready to go
The real surprise is, the kids just don’t know
No longer can we, this secret keep
Brett and Austin,
We are going to Disney in just one more sleep !!!!!!!

Love Mom and Dad

Awww you got me all teary eyed too! I love it :)

No real ritual, I just obsess about what I could have forgotten to pack and I double (triple? quadruple?) check to make sure I have all the super important items. I'm also one of the many who cannot fall or stay asleep- my mind is just racing with anticipation and excitement!

We usually order pizza and drive my husband nuts talking about what we are going to do at Disney. Then it is off to bed where I toss and turn and get 2 hours of sleep because the idea of visiting that darn mouse just keeps me from sleeping!! LOL

I just noticed that you guys are just a couple hours west of us! I actually almost came out to Paragould to look at a car last month until I saw how much of a drive it was for a car I wasn't certain about.
