While you are correct that they have a patent, it means absolutely nothing since its not going to be used. Sony also has patents for blocking used games but it doesn't matter since they are not using it. Companies are patenting things all the time, most of them never see the light of day. If MS ever decides that they will use said software, you can be sure Sony will be first in line to use it as well since they have a larger stake in the movie industry. One of my biggest issues with this system war is how Playstation fans seem to paint Sony as some saint in the industry. Does anyone really think that if MS went with the no used games, always online.... Sony wouldn't be doing the same thing? Of course they would.


If they spun it off, I still think they would have a huge stake in it. It could work out for the better since MS could then focus on software for the box and the new company could focus on the games/hardware side. If the Xbox one is as successful as the 360 was I really don't see them spinning it off anyway. I would love to see SEGA partner with MS if they did decide to sell of the brand. That would make the classic SEGA fanboy in me go crazy.

I know both company have terrible patients I was just pointing out a patient about Microsoft due to something said against Sony. I will also state that for as many annoying Sony fanboys, you have just as many Xbox fanboys, and personally I think both parties are making each other look like crap. I work in the technology industry. I know a thing or too. Sorry I hate the constant insulting of each other, and don't get me started on the PC "Master race" debate.

As for spin off, I am not too sure. On on side of the coin I could see it benefiting Xbox similarly to how I think Dice would be an even better company if EA wasn't standing over them. But at the same time, the possible CEO is the man responsible for what many people say is the demise of Nokia, so it could end badly. Most of wall-street see's Xbox as a microsoft weakness and wishes for MS to let go of the brand (along with Bing). I think I remember last year seeing that Xbox was less then 10% of their profit.

Also isn't Sega in bed with Nintendo for the most part?!

I misspoke. Xbox makes about 13% when combined with Windows Phone, Skype. (The Surface might be included in this now too)

If you are a playstation guy, congrats if that is what you prefer. I never really did understand why the "other" system having success was such a bad thing. Competition is a good thing for both sides. Do you think PS3 has the run of games that it had this last couple years if the 360 wasn't so successful? I doubt it. Sony was in last place and the competition is what forced them to focus. If the opposite happens this time, I can see MS doing the exact same thing.

Not really, they have a little partnership but its nothing that great. Being an ultimate SEGA fanboy its really just a pipe dream for me. The thought of SEGA having their own system again and focusing on some of their classic IPs like phantasy star, Shining force, Wonder boy, skies of arcadia... is enough to make me explode.

I wasn't sure, cause I know I see much more Sega on Nintendo and I assumed. I would like for another Skies or Phantasy star, they were amazing games and I think all the systems should team up for it.

Maybe we should join forces and petition for a new skies and phantasy star?!

I will be very curious to see what the actual sell price on Ebay will be. I remember the PS3 when it came out really didn't fair well on Ebay.

I think their late entry and fairly high price was to blame. This time I guarantee the ps4 is a very hot item in the resale market. I think there is profit there for the xb1 but less room for it.

I just realized that there is a microsoft store opening in the local mall today. They got that in just in time for the big release! On a side note Kelly Clarkson is performing at the opening... Take that however you'd like.

I don't blame you, I am having issues keeping my fanboy gushing down.

If you guys have half as much fun as I am with my PS4 your in for a big treat. Just everything about it is great, and I am sure your gonna see the same thing. The thing I love is how responsive the os is at everything. The next gen are a treat.

That is good to hear. I was in Game Stop this morning and there was already one guy in there with the somewhat mythical "Red Line of Death" issue trying to get it swapped out.

Yea there seems to be an issue with some not turning on. A majority came from Amazon from what I have seen reported. I am wondering if there was an entire batch with issues that slipped by.

That is always possible. The red line is supposedly an overheating issue, blue flash seems to be a bad HDMI connector. At any rate the failure rate seems to be at less than .05%. Of course thanks to the internet, the .05% are raising a stink.

The internet always makes things worst then they already are. I think numbers that I counted between reddit and forum in around 200 units reported online, which out of who knows how many thousands released are good number. I wouldn't be surprised to see the xbox one have some failure.. Its the sad nature of console release.
