The new park commercials

Maybe there is a general bad stigma now…and we watch inept management not correct it?
We are upset at a completely normal commercial because we don't like other things about what management has done?

Folks should absolutely get on them for things they do wrong, not everything they do. When people complain about literally everything, it is easy to dismiss them as malcontents with an axe to grind even if they also have legit, good points and constructive criticism.

The commercials running here are nothing more than reminiscing about past trips....ie, nostalgia. Nothing about what is actually happening or changing in the parks currently. 🤷‍♀️
Totally agree. Charging more for the same. I all for nostalgia but Disney needs more new rides, not refurbs, and less new hotels. What do they think all these people in these new hotels are gonna do or go?

This ad thing is just indicative of a larger problem. It’s very hard to argue much in the swamp is “better” these last 5 years…with some small exceptions

The complaining is “burn”.

Also…it’s just a really unclever thing to kick dirt over there is a major expansion in town and they are flat footed/cant counter.

It sends a bad message too. Wdw ads - like the “four parks, one world” of circa 2000s - conveyed a different message: you get all this when you come.

Now they mothball waterparks and show buildings…and bog the rides down with fees…and try to display everything as “unique” in 5 hour increments

Just my take…grain of salt

Ignore the out of control pricing and lack of affordability.
Ignore the mediocre at best "new things".
Ignore the remarkable decline in quality.
Ignore the contempt shown to their most loyal guests.

Just sprinkle some pixie dust around and ignore all the problems that grossly incompetent management have inflicted on the parks and blame the people who point it out....because they're the bad guys.

Got it.

Sure but...

Buying that truck won't actually send you driving through monument valley.

Drinking that beer won't actually transport you to a perfect Mexican beach party.

Dining at Olive Garden won't actually eliminate your family's deep-rooted dysfunction.

Wearing those compression shirts won't actually land you a supermodel.

Magic ruined!!

…people scoff at the never ending breadsticks…but then later you catch them with butter and salt on their grubby little fingers

As someone with plenty of money tied to the parks' success, this looks to me to be their most cohesive and convincing effort in a long, long time.

If they can build on this concept, I'll be tickled pink (and hopefully green).

I genuinely hope you are "tickled green" by their current marketing campaign. You are one of the good ones around here, and you're also on the short list of posters I trust.

This is the exact kind of reactionary response I am talking about.

Normal person - "Sure, advertising rarely matches reality and there are certainly things I don't like about Disney, but this commercial seems pretty standard."

Disney Malcontent - "OMG, someone didn't say the newly released, completely normal commercial was a shining example of everything wrong with management and how the company is going down the toilet. How dare they not be mad that a company didn't list out all the things I don't like about them in their advertising. Instead of using any logic or common sense, I should just start throwing around the duster label. Good, now that I put that Disney shill in their place, I can go finalize the first of my five upcoming WDW trips staying at a deluxe with multiday tickets this year."

That’s excellent.

People shouldn’t be hesitant to point out Disney’s flaws. There are plenty of them.

But this unrelenting negativity on a Disney fan site gets depressing.

A few years ago this site seemed to have more people posting on a greater variety of subjects. I know some of them still post, just not here.

A handful of posters are driving people away with this nonsense.

Those people in the cigarette adverts all look so happy smoking! I should do that too and nothing bad will happen!

Well it’s only 2 trips and I have an annual pass, I am an undesirable to management.

But I guess the more important question is why you’d settle for mediocrity or having people taken advantage of or mislead? The magic of Disney for me was the outstanding guest experience, unique, original, and amazing rides and lands, spotless cleanliness and care, and value.

There’s still a trace of the original wonder left in things that haven’t been “improved” and certainly the CMs who I’ve built relationships with and take great joy in visiting with. But it becomes more difficult each time as the current brain trust “improves” things. I can’t say I’m the only one because there’s a different dynamic in the park right now, it feels off, and there’s certainly a noticeable change in the number of guests visiting and how they feel about Disney Parks.

Using the sports analogy, when the team is doing badly, the biggest fans don’t hate the team or want to give up on it and stop going to games or watching them on TV, they want the leadership to change because they’re doing a crap job.

Disney management from the CEO on down has decided to make the sole focus of the Parks to extract money from guests, regardless of whether they do a good job or not with their parks. It’s an unsustainable strategy that the fans know because it ultimately will destroy the team.
