The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

My random thought today is do these people not have computers, smartphones, or the internet? Is there any logical reason to choose to wait until you're at the park to buy tickets? Even if you decided spur of the moment to come to Disneyland, you could order the tickets on your phone in two seconds.

I had to get in line a few years ago, the policy I think has changed where they can swap your printed online tickets at the gate though. At the time I had to swap it at the ticket booth.

Yes, they have been doing that for years.

I'm sure there are some scenarios where you would need to get in line, but not all of these people. If I saw this line, I'd be on my phone ordering fast.

You don't need to renew APs in this line, do you? You do that in the parks at City Hall, right?

Well I think it would be almost like a no lose situation for them. They already have the APs money but they can make crowds bearable for day guests by influencing APs checking the app that today is not a good day to come. Not to mention the long term savings on infrastructure and happier CMs. Couple flaws with this theory though. I don’t really think that Disney cares too much about making crowds bearable and they would be turning away Parking, food and merch sales.

The City Hall line wait can be just as time-consuming especially at opening.

I did something yesterday I literally never thought I would do...
I was down in Orange County and around 5:30 decided to head north and go home...
Being a pass holder I thought, hey, I can stop by for a bit, grab a pretzel, hop on Pirates, and be home at a decent time...
Well, no sooner did I make that turn towards the M&F parking structure when I saw actual gridlock going IN to the park. I then realized it was the last day of Christmas/Cali Screaming' and also probably kids last day of winter break...so I quickly re-assessed my time calculations...and realized that any hopes I had of returning home at a decent time were shot.

So I got my parking ticket, drove up the ramp and then immediately headed for the exit and went home.

You did the right thing. As an AP, there is no need to deal with those miserable days. I was going to go Saturday but one look at the app changed my mind.

On another note, how is it that I’m an AP and have not been on Pirates since April?

Haha I have no idea! For me, it's not a proper trip unless I go on at least twice.
Truthfully, I had just gone on Tuesday, so that made the decision to turn around a bit easier, but yeah...I don't regret it at all. I just never thought I would literally get there and leave without ever getting out of my car, haha.

Haha well truthfully I know why I haven’t been on Pirates. My now 2 year old almost had a heart attack because of the Davy Jones projection last April. But that was 8 months ago. Time to give it another shot.

Haha oh dang. Yeah, I always forget what it must be like to take small children with you. Best of luck!

I literally said this out loud while walking past a line even bigger than this this week - WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE NOT BUYING THE TICKETS ON YOUR PHONE RIGHT NOW??

I don't know if this thought is random because I am not a DL regular but a WDW regular, but after my DL visit this week (and with a WDW visit coming up next week), I have to say that I miss the old FP system that you guys still have in place in DL. I like the convenience of magic bands and having everything in one spot on my wrist, but I miss the spur of the moment "hey let's grab a fp for this while we go on xyz." I also think that that the old school fp's reward those of us who are organized, get there at rope drop, and have a plan, rather than those who were able to get on their computers months ahead of time faster.

Because it's hard to buy Annual Passes with multiple Disney Gift Cards on the phone/computer like I do.

When I buy new AP passes, I use my saved up Disney VISA card rewards. I cash them out in gift cards and buy AP passes.

Can't you purchase APs direct with the rewards?

I tried that once. I could buy tickets directly but I couldn't for AP passes. Weird computer thing. It ended up since points expired at the end of the year I pushed them to gift cards and then use them for the passes. The online purchase would only let me use one gift card so I had to go in person.

Add to that visitors that got paper vouchers from their travel agent.

Anybody buying a SoCal CityPass also must exchange their voucher/phone q code at the ticket windows for the multi-park ticket.

At least the Club 33 guests can get their ticket at Guest Relations instead of the ticket windows. (Much shorter line).

Spreading a little love for WDW and one of my two favorite videographers out there, Clifflix. Here are his two latest videos. An amazing 4K render of Happily Ever After and a short but very well done version of Tree of Life Awakenings from DAK.
