Totally agree. I would have been happy if they put Muppetvision in there. The Walt AA figure should make it a little more interesting.
While I like Muppetvision, there's no way it would still be there if they had gone through with that move. Most people here reacted to the removal of Muppetvision from DCA with a shrug at best.
I think they should replace the Hall of Presidents with an AA show on the birth of the country and the Revolutionary War. It would fit the land better and people won't freak out over our new President.
I actually really like this idea! It fits and totally sidesteps the awkward place in which the show now finds itself.

It would be great if they could just remove the current president's speech and go back to how the show was originally presented; trouble is, I'm not sure it's possible to do that without people screaming about it regardless of their political affiliation.
I think that’s what I like about it. Even among all the diverse experiences at Disneyland, Lincoln very much has its own distinct sensibility.
Very true, but because of that sensibility, I also understand why it's more polarizing than many other attractions. It's not Lincoln himself, it's how the story is told. And that story is told much like a 60s educational projection in a school, a style that I imagine many weren't a fan of when they were in that exact demographic.

I appreciate Lincoln, but it's definitely very old school and could be seen as dry or didactic in presentation, arguably more so than just about anything else in the park.

I've brought friends and family members to see it, including people with history backgrounds; my late Grandfather was the only one who appreciated it, and even he probably slept through some of it.
I actually am very into American History.

But I much prefer American Adventure at Epcot.

I also haven't been in the Hall of Presidents in a decade. And the last time was because my parents made me.

In high school, one of my coworkers at Six Flags went to Disneyland for the first time.

He told me when the Lincoln figure stood up, he was blown away.

It's interesting the things that stand out to different people at the park.

Yeah. It’s crazy dated. I view it more as a historical artifact than “the most engaging presentation about Abraham Lincoln possible in 2024.” But again, that’s what I like about it.

Have you all seen the most recent iteration of Hall of Presidents? Not sure when it was updated, but as of January 2023 I found the show much more nuanced and truthful-to-actual-US-history than the older 1990s/2000s version (at least as far as I remember it).

I love Lincoln, but to any “normal” person (someone who has never heard of the 1964 NY Worlds Fair) I’d recommend American Adventure or the current HoP instead.

I agree. And I admire Disneyland's dedication to that one figure, which I have always found particularly impressive and expressive.

I find his speech to be timeless, his movements fluid and smooth.

The new video they added over the last few years in the lobby sets up the context of the attraction incredibly well, in a way I doubt they will be able to top.

Alas, some people just don't get it.

I do love seeing first timers blown away by something.

I was on POTC late at night. There was no line. Some 20 something girls got in line behind me. They had trouble finding the entrance, and I directed them over. They asked about the ride, and I told them I love that ride, I come over from the east coast in large part for that ride.

They were in the row behind me; we were the only ones in the boat, and they were so blown away by the animatronics and the scenery. Normally I don't like talking during a ride, but they were so amazed that I couldn't help but smile at their reactions. I love that ride, so other people falling in love with that ride is good by me.

Then they wondered why there was no one on because they thought it was so cool. 😂 Uh, because it was 10 pm on a Sunday and everyone who wasn't at Oogie Boogie had left.

Both. It's a good musical.
It was a running joke for a while because for like three years in a row my Spotify wrapped was all Hamilton. I was apparently in the top 1% listeners for Lin Manuel Miranda. It was sad. 😂

I do use the cast recording for a workout playlist, though, so that helps explain it. Somewhat. 😭🤣

Ok… See… here’s a great example of what other companies do that Disney…. could maybe take a few notes regarding…

Here I sit, awaiting the less-than-an-hour-away release of Planet Coaster 2. On a whim, I check iTunes and, yep, Frontier has just released the game’s full official soundtrack.

I loved the first game’s OST (You, Me & Gravity), so this was an insta-buy. And my jaw dropped open to find that this $9.99 soundtrack contains 80 tracks— THREE HOURS and FORTY MINUTES of music!!! Listening now— It’s fun, soothing and blissful. 😃

This is how you make fans happy, Disney. This is how offering great deals generates good will. Please open the vault and make more park music available for purchase.

(Dang, this album is great!!!)

That is why I think HoP should be a mini American Adventure on the Birth of the Nation. People love Hamilton the musical.

And also use Hamilton casting rules when they remodel all the animatronics for the new show.

That would actually be hilarious! And if it's good enough for Scandinavians in the Frozen show, it should be good enough for Calvin Coolidge and FDR. 🤣

With all these whispers of Elon Musk buying or taking over Disney, could you imagine if this became indirectly true. I mean TSLA shot up %15 today for goodness sake. I'd bet Elon could push Iger out if it was his dream.
Yeah but who would want Disney? I'd wait for the stocks to go down more and then send in the corporate raiders. Split up the company and sell the film division and Disney+ to Universal.
