Mobile ordering and food is so much better than WDW that it’s ridiculous. Just came back from WDW after going to DL for the first time in September. The amount of time you waste having to stand in line for often times inferior food is staggering. Really was missing the convenience of being able to mobile order almost everywhere.

IMO, Universal Orlando does it better too. Placed my order on my phone, walked into Three Broomsticks, sat at a table, entered table #, food arrived in about 3 minutes. Perfect.

BTW, you can get a side of scrambled eggs for 2.99 at 3 Broomsticks. Delicious and a hefty serving. This could be the best breakfast bargain in any FL or CA theme park…

Even for "idiot tourists" like us who didn't realize we should've ordered BEFORE standing in line, the wait was minimal. We mobile ordered from our table and it was fast and efficient.

Honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy Universal as much as I did. The ability to have a "just wing it" mentality makes up for a LOT of the downsides to Universal. You know, going to a theme park to just have fun! What a concept!

That is exactly what it felt like. If you live between Los Angeles and Carlsbad, the last 1/2 mile exiting the freeway to the parking structure probably took longer than your actual drive from home to DLR.

With the reservation system shouldn’t they know exactly how many CMs they need? I remember pre reservation days noticing that it was quicker to park on historically busy days sometimes than slow days because they were staffed accordingly.

I think they have a good estimate of daily attendance… but it’s probably harder to tell what time people are arriving. Since we arrived after 1, I would believe they cut the tollbooths in half at some point late morning, not realizing many people planned to come late and stay late on Sunday of a three day weekend.

They have years of data. They should have a pretty good idea of when people are getting to the park.

I, for one, am overwhelmingly excited for The Great American State Fair in Iowa to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. It's effectively going to be a World's Fair but with pavilions for all 50 states. Should be an incredible event and might even have a very real impact on the theme park industry.

It sounds great but it could be just another grift.

That's my fear. While I love the idea, it's obviously not top priority for the new administration as there are much bigger problems facing this country. The stated goal is to have it open by Memorial Day 2025 which also seems ridiculous given the new administration doesn't even take office until January 20. That's less than five months to plan and orchestrate a national fair. I really hope it happens because it sounds fantastic, but I do realize that politicians tend to make promises they don't keep.

The answer is always PC unless you want Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda. Steam sales are great. If you want handheld get a Steam Deck.

Never played Dreamlight Valley but Stardew Valley is a great way to kill time, and is one of the highest rated games ever made.

Thanks! I'm leaning toward Stardew Valley.

Also, to be clear, I have a Switch and all those games. I'm just wondering if it is easy enough to play on Switch or if PC is better. For reference, I have an old Roller Coaster Tycoon for Switch and I don't play it anymore because the controls are so cumbersome. The real answer there is to upgrade my laptop for Planet Coaster, but that's a topic for a different discussion.

Stardew Valley, if you don’t mind the pixel art style. It’s a very solid, charming game.

Dreamlight Valley is slick, but for me the gameplay quickly got tedious. If it’d had roller coasters, I might’ve been able to overlook that.

Considering our Carousel theater is absolutely useless and the biggest waste of space in the park (rivaled only by Galaxy's Edge), I'd be hesitant to suggest they get rid of it, regardless of maintenance issues.

Glad to see I’m not alone in thinking that Galaxy’s Edge was an awful choice for Disneyland. IP lands should never ever go in a castle park- all the other lands are themes and genres that can house multiple franchises. Galaxy’s Edge is a huge chunk of space that can only ever be used for sequel trilogy era Star Wars.

I think it could be rethemed to OT Tatooine without unreasonable cost.

Better yet, though, retheme it to a catch-all scifi/fantasy village for properties like Treasure Planet, Black hole, Atlantis— Even Kingdom Hearts.

Even better: Discovery Bay at long last.

Meanwhile, poor Tomorrowland sits rotting as a mostly Star Wars land with Buzz Lightyear also there lmao

Discovery Bay would be AMAZING, especially if they lean into the mystical/steampunk side of it to differentiate it from Tomorrowland. I've tried making my own version of Discovery Land, where it's the original concept mixed with more "expedition"-y Disney attractions and even a little Dino Institute stuff to make it a more scientific discovery type place.
