Not Phoebe's mom! 🥺

I first saw Teri Garr as Sgt. Norton on McCloud, and she instantly became a favorite. Loved her in Young Frankenstein, Close Encounters, One From The Heart and Tootsie. She made the world a happier, kinder place. Bless her.

This news was so sad! :( An interesting Disney connection is that Miss Garr got her start about 60 years ago as a go-go girl and backup dancer on all the popular mid 1960's dance n' music shows of the day, like Shindig and Hulabaloo. But that also brought her recurring gigs as a dancer and general party-goer alongside Annette Funicello in the mid to late 60's in several of the beach party movies.

Here she is dancing next to Annette in the pale yellow babydoll pajamas in 1965's Pajama Party! (That was the beach party movie where they all wore pajamas). RIP Miss Garr, and I can only imagine how you are cutting a rug up in heaven now!

FYI, when that pretty blonde pours her bottle of Dr. Pepper over the head of Buster Keaton dressed up as an Indian Chief, without ruining the movie just rest assured that he deserved it.

Okay gang, in happier news....

I went today down into town to See's Candy to get my prize baskets for Halloween. True to form, the lovely See's ladies sprung into action when I told them what I needed and why. The lead candy lady said "Oh, I remember you last year!", even though I've been into that store repeatedly since last Halloween. Apparently my dashing figure and distinguished yet kind face isn't quite as memorable as it used to be, and it now takes a unique Halloween order to jog the memory. 🤣

But with a few boxes of full size Hershey Bars with almonds from Costco, and a small See's gift basket for Best Boy Costume, Best Girl Costume and Best Family Costume, I am ready for Halloween!

What will be the popular costumes and themes this year? Will I see any jodhpur-clad and aged up Tiana's at my door? Finally a blue alien from Avatar? I have to imagine the Barbie craze is over, but I can't quite get the pulse yet on what will be the trends this year. But I'm ready for 'em!

Happy Halloween to everyone, and may your candy bucket be full of all your favorites and no raisins! 🎃

Disney owns 20th Century now, which means all her classic movies like Young Frankenstein are now part of the Disney catalog.

Plus the original concept for ToT was to be a Young Frankenstein themed attraction.

Ah yes, Hotel Mel! Sure, Tower of Terror is one of the greatest attractions of all time, but part of me wishes we could’ve seen a Mel Brooks attraction in a Disney park.

I'm sending my best wishes to the Dodgers.

Mainly because I'm an Orioles fan, and if you guys sweep the Yankees, I will laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh...

However, I have encountered a few extremely rude CMs here.

One was as I was entering today. Genuinely wasn't paying attention, ADHD meds hadn't kicked in, and went to an exit line by mistake. It was kind of a weird set up; there were two small exit lines together, and then other exit lines grouped together. WDW usually groups their exits together.

Anyway, I accidentally went to an exit right at the end thinking it was an entrance. No big deal, right? CM rudely yells at me "This is an exit!" I'm like, really? You could have just said, oh, this is actually an exit, entrance is to your right.

Then later, I was looking for the New Orleans train station, not realizing it was closed. The CM there told me "If you're looking for the river, you'll have to go through the eating area like everyone else." I was like, um, what? I asked about the train and he again rudely told me that the train was only available at the other stations. I was like...okay...maybe you could have just asked what I was looking for instead of just assuming... especially since there is literally no signage.

You are not alone. As you’ve observed, there are still countless fantastic CMs — but overall CM standards have taken a dive in recent years (post-Covid, IMO).

My wife and I are the most low-key, innocuous Disneyland guests imaginable, and we’ve been barked at by aggressive CMs more times than we can count. I suspect Disney has been struggling to fill positions, and some CMs have slipped through the cracks with insufficient training.

I think it's a tie or pretty close isn't it?

RSR / Incredicoaster / GRR / TSMM vs Autopia / IASW / Space Mountain / Indy

IASW is a short flight though.
I guess I mostly associate it with RSR and TSMM, though I also thought of Sky School (I don't do GRR much). IASW and Space stairs feel insubstantial compared to TSMM and RSR, though I've never really compared them directly. Maybe I just associate it with DCA because that's the park where I'm inherently grumpier, so every inconvenience feels magnified, lol.

The 50/50 nature of Indy and IC does annoy me though. I always find myself hoping I get off on the side fewer stairs!

85? And up 15 in a year?

There is always push and pull with pricing vs demand but to me this is a sure fire way to sell less of these. Everyone has a breaking point.

Didn't ticket prices just go up too?

Maybe Disneyland isn't learning the same lessons from their east coast park which outpriced people and suffered lower attendance two years in a row. They are now offering tons of deals at Disney World to get people back.

I'm very much of the mindset of being nice to service workers. I know they put up with a lot of crap. I even make sure to use that Cast Compliment feature when someone goes above and beyond because whatever helps; if it helps gets them a raise, helps them in their performance reviews, I want that for them.

Which is why when they're rude like that, I'm like...come on now.

They have been overpriced since the beginning to thick to be worn when warm and too thin to be sweatshirt weather appropriate.
They're not really that flattering either.

I prefer just the regular sweaters as opposed to the spirit jerseys. The spirit jerseys make me look like I'm a football player with the shoulders.

I think it doesn't help that people in the Disney fan communities elevate Disney CMs and cut them more slack.

I guarantee you if these same fans had the same bad interaction you see at Disneyland at a McDonalds or Target instead they'd be fuming about it.

But people excuse Disney CMs way too often.

I've worked at a themepark in my teenage years and we had many crowded days but I never was rude to people period.

Fans that defend bad CM behavior instead of complaining about it make the problem worse.

Not saying themepark employees have easy jobs but if they are that miserable it would be beneficial for them to find other minimum wage work instead where they don't deal with as big of crowds.
