Don't understand the logic behind closing Matterhorn for refurb for three days, opening it again for 4 days, and then putting it back on refurb. I'll be going for the first time April 26 and thought I was going to have the one Disney mountain I've never been on but now it's back in jeopardy. Hopefully its as short a refurb this time around as it was the first one.

Wouldn't it be great if Grizzly River Run had more theming to Ranger Woodlore and Humphrey the bear?
I can imagine animation from this special playing in the queue, with any mention of Brownstone National Park replaced and reanimated to Grizzly Peak National Park.
It would be great if Disney repurposed some Splash Mountain critter animatronics that are rumored to all be ripped from Splash onto Grizzly River Run (possums, turtles, racoons, vultures, etc). Maybe they could somehow re-skin Brer Bear to be Humphrey the Bear to save money. Brer Fox to Donald Duck, etc. Just hoping the Splash figures get put to good use.

I can’t believe the new chocolate chip cookies from Harbour Galley actually matched the hype. Simple, soft, warm and chewy. I cant think of a store bought chocolate chip cookie that I like better off the top of my head. That includes Mrs Fields or any of the new fancy cookie shops. Mobile ordered a bakers dozen and they were ready for immediate pick up. My wife and I rarely buy sweets at the park. They usually look better then they taste and are too sweet but I have a feeling I’ll be buying these often.

Fried Fish sandwich at Hungry Bear was pretty good too. Has a nice lemony coleslaw on it with just a little kick.

Got my son on Mission Breakout for the first time. He’s been tall enough for about 4 years but we thought it would have terrified him so we held off. If it was still TOT I probably would have put him on it a couple years ago. I’ve done most of his first rides with him so it was my wife’s turn. I thought for sure he wouldn’t want to do the child switch with me but he ended up loving it! He rode it again with me and I bought him a little dancing baby groot as a memento. Really miss TOT though. It actually had build up, killer theme, was more 3D and actually felt like a Disney ride.

How do the cookies compare to the Cookie Num Num?

Glad your son enjoyed MB!

10x better. I didn’t like Cookies Num Num. Only had it once a while back but I remember them having an artificial sweetener after taste? Or was it just brown sugar?

These are just simple, really good, classic Chocolate chip cookies. They’re also better texturally.

Thanks! Only one ride at DLR left to conquer is the Incredicoaster. I tried telling him MB is much scarier than Incredicoaster but he’s a bit apprehensive about the loop.

As long as “The Humphrey Hop” (The House of Mouse version) is the ride’s soundtrack—played from beginning to end! 😃

What made if unique was that you were suddenly dropped without expecting it. With MB you are flung up from the get go, so like you said, there's no build up.

I was terrified of roller coasters until I was in Jr. High. My first coaster with a loop was The Demon at Great America. I pretty much closed my eyes the whole ride and remember thinking "where was the loops?" cause you don't really notice you are going upside down.....just feel the G's changing along the way.

Exactly. Speaking of that first fling up on MB I used to really look forward to it and now I dread it. Not the fling up but the way down from the fling up. It does something to my man regions below and so now it’s started to mess with my head. I’m so happy they don’t take a picture at that exact moment because you’d see a dude in complete panic and terror. I kind of wish I could just hit the ride like 3-4 times in a row and just shake it off. It’s part mental now.

Haha loops are over rated. I tried telling him that the loop is the just boring part of the ride but he can’t get over the visual of it.

Indy looked and felt fantastic last Monday. Everything (new definition of everything) was working except the second of the new projections (the crumbling wall) that replaced the rat projections. It actually looked kind of neat with the effect not working. Something about the lighting with the scrim looked more believable without the cheesy crumbling wall projection. Maybe they turned it off. Anyway, I sat in the back row and it felt great. The vehicles movement have reminded me more of Indys earlier days since the last refurb. Might just be in my head though.

I don't think we knew it at the time, but the Indiana Jones Adventure was the last of the truly epic Disneyland E Tickets.

I know we're supposed to say that Star Wars: Rise Before Dawn is a great E Ticket, but it seems to just meet the standards set 25 years earlier by Indy. And of course there's Millennium Falcon: Target Run, but after going on that one a few times I am inclined to rate that a D Ticket by the standards of the 2020's, along with Mickey's Runaway Railway.

But Indiana Jones Adventure, circa 1995 after a decent refurb in 2024? That's the last of the true E Tickets.

It drives me nuts that they don't have the full preshow, and they still don't have a ton of the random dialogue throughout the ride. And the vehicle movement not being random anymore.

That said... it's still a top three ride in the park.

I'm surprised they never built one in Paris.

Because Paris had deep financial problems until relatively recently, and they had already shoved in a cheap Pinfari looping coaster with the Indy name slapped on it into their Adventureland before the DL attraction opened.

Man, I don't even remember the random dialogue at this point. There has to be one good YouTube documentary on Indy.

Yeah true, considering they are both Baxters babies.

Yeah id imagine its in most peoples Top 3. It's easier to say that now that Splash is gone. I'd say its Top 3 in terms of quality but its not in my Top 3 rides at Disneyland that I want to ride most often.

Smugglers Run is a D ticket if you're the pilot. If not, it's a chore. Almost never ride with large groups because I have no interest in going on that ride and not being pilot. If I do go with large groups of family or friends that haven't been on the ride I do the right thing and let them be pilot. Now I just avoid the whole thing all together. Ive taken a lot of first timers and nobody has loved it. Mostly "meh" reactions.

Id say ROTR is a great E ticket even if it doesn't necessarily do it for me. Mostly because its light on the thrills. I'd probably be more forgiving if the other GE ride was an actual thrill ride. But I do agree that it only kind of meets Indy's standards. Sure, the 3 ride system thing is impressive but Im not sure it's appreciated by the rider. Id say where it did take everything a step further was with the pre-shows. Being caught by a Star Destroyer and walking into that hangar is pretty damn cool even if its pre shows can start to get a bit monotonous on repeat rides.

Haven’t had one of these in a while. Used to love them when I was a kid. Now I understand why. They taste like play dough. I was more into the Peanut Butter ones though.

Bingo! And anyone over the age of 16 who doesn't let a child be the pilot is either a genuine a-hole, or just ends up looking like one to their friends and family and complete strangers and random CM's for all eternity.

It's a specific social dance on that ride, where you have to let the kids be the pilots. Thus, the adults sit in the back and get thrown about while they think "I wonder what this ride is like if the pilot is actually good?" 🤔

They must have spent a fortune on that ride, and they didn't cheap out on it. Aesthetically the queue and pre-show is very impressive. But the end result as you exit the hallways is D Ticket Meh for almost everyone over the age of 16.
